It's funny how when a company makes a product which people doesn't want (Samsung Gear), they have an abundance of them and end up literally giving them away. But when it comes to a successful product (Apple Watch), they sell out in 6 hours. Who'd have thought.

6 hours? it was "sold out" before the orders even began.

People probably stopped ordering after six hours. They never sold out, because they didn't sell any!! They only accept your order and give you an estimate.

A sale includes the actual transfer of what was purchased.

At this point you may find more luck finding the watch in a Nordstrom or some other high end boutique.

Nordstrom's is not high end, nor a boutique, nor do they currently sell Apple Watches.

You're thinking of Maxfield's which is a high end boutique that sells the Apple Watch.

At some point they need to communicate with their customers. All the hype and build up for this watch has mislead people into thinking that they would have received their watches already. The company has placed watches on the wrist of celebrities but has made them out of reach for the majority of people who ordered them. This week we hear from the Wall Street Journal that apple has a problem with the "taptic" engine on the watch. Getting this information second hand has only expounded the frustration from their customer base. Apple should have never launched this product when they did and owe their entire customer base an apology. At the very minimum they should let the customers who have already ordered know what the issues have been. Their customer service department should contact the customers directly as opposed to leaking information through news outlets.

Hello, phan. We see things in a similar light. I was also thrown back by the celebrity-love the watch got before the actual consumers, the people that matter. Very un-Apple move, which is just another reason I think Cook is very slowly going to run Apple downhill. Only time will tell.

But ya, the lack of communication is what's getting at me. I can accept that they royally screwed up, but waiting weeks with no real word is upsetting.

See ya on tour, bro.

It sure was a failure! A failure in providing the product to its loyal and future consumers. Though the watch sale soars, the company integrity in dealing with its consumers on a new product launch is in question. But it's a new product and I believe it's Angela's first official product launch. It's just a tad bit disappointing. I did order the watch and it seems like it will get here by next year. Lol. People that ordered in the first 20 minutes on 4/10 are barely getting theirs. Since I ordered on 4/28..... 2016? Lol. By that time, there's prolly already new and better watch casings.

Has Apple even missed a delivery window yet? nope.

It's easy to not miss a delivery window when it's a nebulous blob of a month (June), ~2 months after a preorder.

Just stop with this line. You know fully well that it has nothing to do with missing delivery windows, and entirely to do with the absolutely absurd 2 month delay on preorders.

Agreed...good point.

I'm not even gonna respond to this...

But what bothers me more is that for some reason Angela decided to make the watch available to buy in high-end fashion stores in the first wave countries in Europe...

Some have managed to order one on-line from those stores and got their watch shipped to them the next day...Now where's the logic in that..?

Coming from the fashion industry...she should have stuck to selling designer jeans and cardigans...

This is my sixth on-line order from Apple and never have had to wait this long...

Apple's silence on their delivery woes is deafening and unworthy of a company that prides itself for its customer satisfaction !!!

Are you still within the delivery timeframe?

you say that because you already HAVE the watch...
I order a space grey sport at 12:04 into launch and still in processing.
Horrible launch yes.similar to iPhone 6's but at least the over estimated times where changed and most seemed to get launch day(i ordered two phones within 20 minutes of launch.

My 6 took a couple of weeks. Yes, I got my 42mm SS Milanese day 1(24 April) so yes, my perception is based on that lol.

Apple Watch **might** be the biggest Failure to Launch from Apple yet

All I know is that with this whole launch mess they better wait a good year and a half before gen 2.

This launch is and has been a huge mistake! A lot of people including myself stayed awake into the wee hours of the night only to wait two months. This is horrible! I had to update my CC information and because of that I ordered in the first 6 minutes and I have to wait 4-6 weeks! Why not even tell customers space grey will be especially limited, so we can choose another band instead. Worse launch ever!!!

I read the story that Apple was in talks with Nordstrom, but i guess that is a dead deal. My sense of "high end" might be skewed? Only been into a Nordstrom's once in King Of Prussia, PA..lot of clothes with prices way out of my range ($200 bucks for Diesel jeans already ripped..um, no  - I saw Armani, Gucci stuff there as well.)

I personally never heard of Maxfield, it's strictly in LA. looking at their website..Apple watch still shows on the homepage..not sure if they still have them in stock, my guess is I doubt it.

At this point, Apple could consider a "Retail Store Launch Day" Maybe something like Friday May 29th or Friday June 5th.

Have a "Watch Sizing Event on May 27/28 or June 3/ 4) Each store will get a limited supply of watches - some bigger retail stores offering the Edition. No reserves, pay up front on Sizing days.

It will be first come, first serve..that's it!

All participating Apple stores will sell out, not question (equals BIG money for them) Just an idea, but I'm doubtful this will happen. Basically when the hype finally dies down a notch..people will just have to wait until mid, maybe late summer at some point until you'll see these in stores.

Al I'll say is this. Every day I have it and use it gets better and better. It is a fantastic product and I can't wait to use how it evolves over the years.

I didn't buy the apple watch, but I am seeing the launch as a failure. They should launch this product in July, where they could send out their product in a short time frame, instead launch it too early with this mess.

This is ridiculous... Apple's integrity is taking a hit? Really? This place is full of drama queens with a sense of entitlement that is amusing at best and sad in reality.

They said it would be in short supply. They said it would start shipping at a specific date and it was. Anyone that ordered a watch was given a shipping window setting expectations on when you'll receive it. Apple doesn't charge you till it is ready to ship. Done. Simple.

Do I wish I had mine sooner? Sure. Do I check my order status more often than I should? Sure, I'm excited. But sheesh people, relax. This is all supply and demand and clearly the demand is far higher than the supplies despite Apple's best attempts. They communicated that supplies would be low and gave everyone realistic shipping estimates. They haven't charged anyone money for something that isn't shipping. So what exactly does Apple owe you again?

That's right, NOTHING. :D

EBAY is now the exclusive premiere store for Apple Watches! EBAY even has dedicated product information pages that are better written than Apples store. Apple should be really embarrassed by this situation. :D

It's okay for Apple to botch a launch. We can say they failed when they do. It doesn't mean we don't support them anymore. They are not perfect. If the supply was that short - they were not ready to launch this product case and point. Why upset your loyal fans by not having the product your trying to sell what's the point.

The point I think here is they made a promise about the release of the watch that they were not prepared to meet. So this was there only option. Trickle it out to a few people and say to your share holders we made Q1. When in fact June is the real time most people will be able to have one. Any company should be able to meet the first 10 minutes of preorders. This launch failed there is no need to get defensive. We all still love apple. But I am not so blinded that I can not see a failure when it happens.

Ye, this launch was a complete mess.
Sale numbers may be good, (if we ever get the product...)

BUT the customer experience sucks.

Grade = D-

Drama queens? For stating something they don't agree with? Lol. Apple owes me? Did I said anything that they owe me? Saying something that could've been done better is not drama. You on the other hand is the one being dramatic for running your bias opinion.
