Lots of people do. I use a case because I don’t want to be without it. Especially with the world falling apart I don’t want to risk not having my watch for an extended period of time. If you go naked get Care. I’m paranoid so I also have Care.

The reason why I can't use a case is because I purchased a case and finally realized it didn't work with my third party charger without keep reconnecting to charge so charging slowly. :(

I’ve had every Apple Watch since launch, never with a case or a screen protector. No scratches, except when I fell while running (broke my finger). The sapphire glass scraped and I had it repaired under Apple Care.

Never even considered having a case on the watch. I like the design too much to cover it with an ugly case. No scratches whatsoever. I do use a screen protector though but only because I didn’t take it off after my month long holiday last year.

And I also have Apple care on it.

Series 2 without case and screen protector. With AC+, substitute one time before expiring for some little damage at glass. Now naked again.

Never used a case on my watch i must admit but if you use a non SS model i think it’s not a bad idea as mine were more prone to scratches.

I use a case when at work, I’m a production printer technician at Xerox (furloughed at the moment). There are a lot of tight spaces I have to reach into, so I’d rather not destroy the screen. I do have AC+ as well. But doesn’t hurt to have a little bit of protection. Otherwise I don’t use a case.

Does anyone else carry their Apple Watch of course without a case ?

The watch is one thing I've never cased up.

On of the guys who works for me had a case once, got rid of it after a few weeks though. That's the only time I think I ever saw an Apple Watch with a case in the wild.

It would be more interesting if people indicate whether they have aluminum or stainless steel/ceramic/titanium watches. I’ve never had a scratch or any damage to any of my watches (every series except 5).

Granted, I’ve upgraded every year except last year and sold my current watch. I had one aluminum series 2 to start with, but I exchanged it for another Stainless Steel. Just can’t get rid of the paranoia that the screen will scratch. I HATE scratches on watch crystals.

Edit: I’ve never used a case or screen protector.

I’ve had two aluminium watches, currently have a series 5 Nike space grey. Always found them durable and well priced compared to the stainless models, although next time I might buy a secondhand model after a few months and take advantage of the fact they almost halve in price in a matter of weeks. Happy with the aluminium though, especially it’s weight which is super light.

I’ve owned a Series 0, Series 3 and Series 4. All 42/44mm in silver aluminium. The aluminium has always looked like new. It seems to hide any small scratches extremely well, as I’ve just inspected it under light and it looks flawless. I’m not particularly careful and never use a case.

I very briefly owned a Series 2 in silver SS (before selling it for my aluminium Series 3). It was nice, but the case accumulated a lot of minor scratches. I know you can buff them out, but it’s more work than owning the aluminium.

The screen does accumulate some minor marks, but I haven’t severely scratched any of them. My ideal watch would be an aluminium case with sapphire screen. I’m less worried about small screen scratches than when I had a traditional watch, as I know it’ll only be 2-3 years before the whole thing will be sold on/recycled and replaced.
