Tried a few cases- they all look crap. Tried a few screen protectors - look and feel rubbish.

Naked is the only way to go with a watch.

There’s some quality ‘bumper cases‘ for the Apple Watch on the market, and I do think that they are relevant in the sense of depending on the work environment someone might endure on a daily basis, where it does have added protection.

There was a member who was a welder, and that they use a ‘bumper protector case’, just to protect the casing from scratches and other random encounters. So it probably depends on one’s environment where they would consider a case/bumper.

but in terms of aesthetics, it’s detracts away from the 7000 series aluminum/stainless/ceramic, etc. But you have to consider everybody’s ‘use cases‘ are different.

With how often I bump my wrists and hands into corners and door knobs, I have a case on. I’m clumsy and one time shattered the glass and scratched the aluminum on my Series 2 cause I bumped into a corner of a counter. Since then, I used a case on my Series 3 and now my Series 5. I paid a good amount for my watch and I don’t mind spending $8 for a case.

I think it looks good anyway.

This!!! For me it’s because I’m disabled so I use my arms a lot to move myself around. I never realized that sometimes my wrists bump into stuff.

I made my Mom get a case for her watch because she’s clumsy and every watch she’s ever had has always looked busted. And I was right. Just yesterday she banged her wrist on the door frame as she left my room.

People who are anti-case for Watch confuse when that say cuz the watch is too pretty to cover up. These same people almost always have a case on their iPhones as if their iPhones aren’t just as sexy. It makes no sense to me.

Your watch is cute! Here’s mine.

I have that exact same band lol! I also have that case in your picture along with the one I have on now. Once I get bored with the white one, I’m switching to the red. We also have the same exact band. Some cases don’t look so great and others look fantastic. The ones we have, I think they look great! We must have good taste lol

I’m not anti case, I just don’t like them. It wouldn’t bother me if others use cases on their watches, it’s up to them. I do put a case on my iPhone as unlike the watch it’s not a gadget that is part of my clothing/attire. It’s a phone and I mistreat my phones more than I do a watch. I prefer the look of the watch without protection on it and unlike the iPhone I don’t sell it on.

For those who are clumsy or have jobs where the watch could get damaged, definitely put a case on it. The only person this matters to is the one making the decision. Have a case, don’t have a case, it’s all gravy :)

I think almost all Watch cases are ugly to be honest. But I think Rhinoshield nailed it. I also have it in white. I have all of the rims except for the camo green. Right now I’m rocking the black case with the blush pink rim. It matches the black Mod case with pink rim on my iPhone. Band is pure black.

That’s different. I explicitly said those who say it’s too pretty. But those same people are on Reddit showing off their new bands/faces and their watches are busted. Not cute. Those people who give that excuse get on my nerves. Then they tell us case users to just live with the scratches. Thanks but no thanks. I don’t care if people use cases or not. Just don’t tell others not to while wearing your scratched to hell Watch.

I can see what you mean. Personally I don’t use cases on anything if I don’t need to.

- iPhone - a simple clear TPU case only when I’m traveling abroad for unexpected encounters / mishaps.
- iPad - a thin case always with smart cover because I prop it up to watch videos.
- Apple Watch - only a screen protector when I’m traveling abroad for unexpected encounters.

Wait a minute, people use cases for their watch?

This coronavirus is sending people crazy. What's next, cases over their rolexes?

Wait a minute, Did you not read the contents of the thread that everybody has different ‘use cases’ of why they might consider a bumper case for the Apple Watch?

Also, your comment about Rolexes and cases, [I gathered the sarcasm], Rolexes are constructed entirely different of a very thick steel with rigid construction. When you’re looking at an Apple Watch, it’s essentially durable composed of silicon/computer components, but not nearly on the level that a Rolex would be. So I don’t think your comment about a Rolex is appropriate in comparison.

I‘ve used a case for the first time with my series 5. I went caseless with my series 3 and series 4 and both got scratched. I have a very thin Plastic case on. I forgot it’s on there. My series 0 was stainless steel so didnt get scatches on the screen. However there were scuffs on the casing which I used to buff out occasionally with a cape cod cloth.

I had a case in the beginning because of my paranoia, but it generally got in the way and impeded touch performance when I was out running.

Now I don't use a case. I asked myself why I was using a case. To keep it in pristine condition? Who for? By the time I can afford to upgrade to a new one, the resale value of mine would be somewhere down there with the cost of the strap (and not the ones Apple sells!).

Now I just use it as a watch, no special treatment.

What are the best cases?

i may just get apple care for my watch...never got it before though

Like a Swatch Watch?

No case for me, the thing is thick enough as it is. Not only that but the natural titanium looks really nice.

Oh no case on my iPhone either, BTW.

I used to have a case & screen protector on my series 0, purely because it was my first expensive device that would see more day to day impacts than my phone. When I upgraded to the series 4, I have been using it naked since day 1.

Honestly wish someone made a really big metal case for the watch. I run a metal bumper all the time on my AW5 but I wish a company came forward and designed one like those released when AW0 came out. Unfortunately because Apple changes their design sizes, being thinner or wider, most of those companies didn't bother doing cases for future watches. For as much as I do, I can't go without a case. And I work in an office and home office, but the amount of moving around I do between machines causes me to bump my wrists. Bumpers/Cases just work for me.. though I also do get the argument that people don't want to wear them because they like the look of the watch itself. Absolutely get that!

I see spigen do a very slim cases that makes it not look that obvious. Maybe adds a bit more bulk to it though

i had two aluminium watches that both got scratched before going for SS so if i do get a nike series 6 then one of these cases might be worth a try.

Never had an issue with the SS ones I've had, but the titanium one SUCKS, I get scratches on it all the time. Next year back to SS. If you can afford it go SS, especially the black SS which is just indestructible.

Is it really that bad? Damn. I plan to get SB SS for series 6. Love my silver SS but going for a change as I’m going back to space grey devices now after trying silver. One thing i wont be getting is the Milanese loop as i did notice a few marks because of this but luckily with SS i managed to buffer it out. The SS is costly but as somebody who had two aluminium this year which both got scratched i feel for peace of mind SS is the way forward.

Yeah I think it's that bad based on my experience. Just from having my hand/wrist laying on a desk when I'm looking at my phone I have a ton of scratches on the top/upper frame. It's not a patina or a wear pattern, these are definitely scratches I can feel with my fingernails. I'm very careful with my watch but I don't think this is a use out of the ordinary.

I have had SS before and still have my old AW3 SB SS. The SS gets swirls which is normal but doesn't scratch easily. The SB SS is indestructible, I still use my AW3 SB SS for my home construction projects. I finished my basement and just a few weeks ago built a huge background playground for my kids and I wore the SB SS the entire time with zero care for damage and it's pristine. I would never think about doing that with the Ti, heck I get nervous now with any light contact on it.

That’s rather bad given the price is so high. It bothered me badly when my aluminium ones got scratched never mind with a device that expensive.

SS sounds expensive on paper but if I did decide to sell my current SS after selling it it would only say £500 to buy the SS SB so really not much difference from buying aluminium which would be £429.

I will likely stay away from Milanese loop though as it doesn’t like my arm hair at all. I tend to just use the sport loop now. Got the leather loop if i wanted a nicer look though
