Apple Watch not ringing after using CarPlay

I didn't even pick up on this at first but can confirm I have the same issue across two phone + watches all on latest version of OS and only a problem on wireless Car Play.

Can believe how long this has been going on when its a pretty fundamental requirement of a cellular watch...

For what it’s worth, when you aren’t near your iPhone the watch rings like normal. It’s only when in range and your phone is the device pushing phone calls to the watch. Still unacceptable, but just wanted to give you that bit of info in case you didn’t know.

Well, since, unlike previous "it's fixed" updates, you haven't come back to go "nevermind, it's back" so this gives me hope. Been having this problem for some time myself and finally decided to dig today and figure out WTF was going on seeing as resetting my watch and phone didn't change anything.

For me it's wired CarPlay on a 2021 Mazda 3 that triggers the bug. Once I use the car, my Macbook Air M1, iPad Pro 11 and Apple Watch S4 will no longer ring unless I restart the phone (iPhone 12 Pro). All on latest public OS versions.

Yes! Since 14.5 beta 2, bug was fixed and never came back!!!

I am incredible excited for 14.5 to come out now. This being fixed and being able to unlock my phone wearing a mask are huge.

edit: 2 things that 14 months ago I had no idea I would ever need.
