Apple Watch Now Available for Pre-Order Through Apple's Online Store

So bummed. I wanted either the Plastic SS or the Black SS.

I ended up having to get the classic leather buckle yuck. And I'm a vegetarian, so I don't like leather. I ordered the plastic too and hopefully can return the leather one or sell it, once my plastic one arrives.

Really? lol if I didn't care to develop apps I wouldn't even bother with this crap. Either they don't have the capacity to produce these things or they're just playing marketing games. I highly doubt there were THAT many sales where they can't offer launch day delivery.

Oh well. Back to coding.

Will be interesting to see if those who make try-on appointments tomorrow will either change their orders or cancel or go home and order more? I ordered two but made an appt for tomorrow just to make sure I like what I got, if I were to switch though I am sure I would be SOL on the shipping so I hope I made the right choices...

Yeah. Apple probably miscalculated demand. Most people want to be conservative with their watch color choices. And space grey sport $349/399 is the cheapest most conservative option.

I want to be able to wear my Apple watch sport out to dinner or at the gym. Multi use. The cheapest and most conservative option is space.

Doubt many teenagers are buying so the other color choices are still somewhat more available.

Got my appointment to try one on for fun. However, the only one I would consider would be the link bracelet as all my recent watches were links (Citizen Eco-Drive, Seiko Kinetic) but honestly the cost of that band is ridiculous without knowing whether the band can be used with future generations of the watch or what the upgrade cycle will be like, and still $500 for a band is too much.

And personally I would go for Stainless Steel. The Space Grey might look good but the problem with it is like with so many things that people have fallen in love with black as a look (or been fed it to the point they think that is what they want) like how you see so many nice cars with black wheels, when really they just look ghetto. It's a culturally pervasive lack of style.
 
Was able to grab two 42mm watches with the classic black buckle. Both deliver 4/24-5/8. Hopefully they appear on 4/24, but excited either way. It's been a good night shopping lol.

Also made two appointments for me and the hubby for Saturday morning to look at the various bands and see if we want to diversify our looks.

Curious what time your order was... I placed mine via the app between 12:04 and 12:05 for the space gray, it said release day window but the email lagged behind till about 12:08 and it said 4 - 6 weeks... :(

Went ahead and ordered a 42mm green at that time and got the email right away and it was for release day. Not sure if I'll keep both orders or cancel one of them..

Nope, just checked the other 42mm sport band colors cause' I would have ordered one of those and cancelled my original order and now they are all at 4-6 weeks. A few 38mm still have April 24th but my big wrist won't be able to get away with a 38mm.
 
Almost all bands available for order look like may or later. Except the milanese and the uglier ones. God I would love the milanese, but i'm not paying that much.
 
I got my 42mm Space Gray :apple:Watch Sport as soon as the app came up, had it favorited and used :apple:Pay. The whole thing took less than 10 seconds. Looks like my order time via e-mail was 12:04 PST. What's the earliest time anyone has?

The website wasn't even back online by the time I was done. Glad I had it up in both places.

Scored 4/24-5/8 ship window, which is a pretty big range if you think about it.
Really hoping it comes on launch day, because, obvious reasons.


Within 1 minute of being live, ship time on my model slipped to 4-6 weeks, and within 5-10 minutes it was clear into June.

Glad I was able to score it when I did.

Didn't even try for accessories or extra bands.
I don't even want to look at those ship times.
Might be nice to have an extra charger though...
 
Got 42mm Gray & Made Try on Appt

Although the main site was up about 5 minutes late, I was able to purchase the 42mm Gray Watch with black band. I got a bunch of gift cards for Christmas/Birthday so I could buy the watch when it came out. I had to enter 7 cards and was afraid it would crash each time. But, it worked great!

From the store page right underneath the 3 watches at the top, there is a heart. Under there is a small link to schedule a try-on appointment.

I got to the page where it asked to select my state and then store and it went to the page that allowed me to select a time real easy. But, once I clicked to schedule the time, it errored out. After several tries it finally worked and I have a confirmed appointment now to try one on.

I'm pretty convinced it would't have mattered for you. There aren't a lot of people who seem to be getting the space gray near launch day.
 
Ordered pretty quick. 12:05 PST. Really disappointed that I'll have to wait till the end of May.

I'm not a TC fan but a little shocked how he botched this launch. It's not the first time he has done that but he was so public and Apple so loud with the pre-order build up. My respect for him as a CEO has dropped another notch. Maybe Apple will miraculously ship by launch but right now May is not near launch.

what on earth are you talking about? Cook didn't "botch" anything -- they just sold out!! that's a smashing success, dude. get real.
 
Seriously people moaning about the website, use the app. I learned on previous launches to use it. It's hassle-free and less overloaded than the site. Just go in the night before, pick the model you want and save it in your favourites. When the store opens go straight into your favourites and hit "buy now". Couldn't be simpler or faster.

You can change the bands though... so the difference would be silver or black case and then a black band... I think there are a lot of classy "silver" watches out there...

Yeah, that's what I decided on the space grey/black sport. Multi use, plus before I decide to fork over that much cash for the milanese watch I'll see how I like the whole "smart watch" idea.
 
I don't understand. First new product category under Tim Cook, one of the most awaited product category, millions of dollars in marketing (hence, expecting consumers' heavy initial demand naturally) and then they take 6 weeks or more to deliver the product? Surely demand cannot be that huge. I mean if there is one company in the world that is quite familiar with a heavy demand, then it is Apple. Something is not right here.
