hmm... one discouraging thing is I am not able to see my order in my account... I get an error every time I try to click on "order status". Is this happening to everyone, or is my order just screwed up?

Yes, the same to me...

Order Status Not showing for me

I wanted to make sure everything went through fine, but I can't see my status either. Just states, "Orders are not available at this time. Please try again later."

Tried online and said, "We're sorry, something went wrong with your request"

Had my apple quick pay all set up and then it had my work cc and address. needed to change it but got it in (hopefully, and correctly) within about 3 minutes from the launch.

Apple doing their usual 'supply issues' to create an illusion of demand. I guess with a shipping date so far away, you've got time to think about how much you don't really need the watch and cancel your pre-order. That's actually really considerate, thanks Apple.

you should get a confirmation email if the order went through...

Yup, I can't view my order on the web or app; however, I did receive the confirmation email.

After some Apple Pay fussiness with addresses (re-entered billing/shipping and it worked after that), the order went through; 38mm stainless with Milanese Loop, delivered 4/24-5/8. Ordered via the app shortly after the app came back up; at the time I ordered the web store was still down.

Oddly, the only shipping option available after re-entering addresses was standard; go figure. I hope I can later call in to Support and get it upgraded to the free 2-day I saw at first before Pay didn't like my initially-entered addresses. Or is this truly the only option available for Watch orders?

This configuration has now slipped to 4-6 weeks.

The backend is probably overloaded with people placing orders, so I'm not worried; I've got a confirmation number to work with if I need to call in for any reason.

So MAD! Had a SS 42 Milanese locked and loaded in the cart, through the apple store app and couldnt figure out how to load my gift cards. In the end, had to use laptop and fell to 4-6 weeks. Not too worried though, Apple's dates ALWAYS improve, so I probably wont get 4/24 but willing to bet week after for sure!
Don't be mad. Looks like only sports watches are shipping on or near April 24--every other is pretty much at 4-6 weeks now (the golds are worse! Not till July!).

As you say, dates will probably improve.

I don't understand. First new product category under Tim Cook, one of the most awaited product category, millions of dollars in marketing (hence, expecting consumers' heavy initial demand naturally) and then they take 6 weeks or more to deliver the product? Surely demand cannot be that huge. I mean if there is one company in the world that is quite familiar with a heavy demand, then it is Apple. Something is not right here.

here's how to understand it -- they don't materialize out of thin air. they take time to manufacture, and we don't know when they started making them. clearly recently. also remember they're building iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, etc...

I highly doubt their "supply issues" are in anyway fabricated.

One of two things will happen, with people being able to see the Watches tomorrow, either (A) people will fall in love with them, spread the word and the orders will go crazy or (B) people will not like what they see/feel and cancellations will start for all the midnight orders and then this will hit the press I am sure.

My guess is it will be (A) but I know I made an appt. for tomorrow to see them in person, just ordered two tonight.

lets all hope that at the try on appointments you can order for in store pickup and they'll have them on launch. I ordered online, but if the store says I'll get it on launch threw them..... I'll cancel my online orders.

Here's hoping. ;)
I have a 12:45 appointment to find out.

Got one but will cancel as I want to pick it up in store.... Got a try on first thing in the AM so will see if I can order one there for in store pick up... wonder why you couldn't choose the option when you ordered as they said you'd be able to.

I was able to order a 42 mm space gray Apple Watch Sport, it's my graduation gift. I'm surprised that mine won't be delivered until May 13 - May 27, considering the confirmation email stated that I order at 2:05 central time. Oh well. Also, like many others, I made an appointment for this Saturday to make sure that I actually even want the watch.

This is especially important considering Apple is about to double, triple or MORE the size of an existing market.

Some 750,000 android watches out there. This is going to handily crush that. Who knows how difficult the estimates were?

nonsense. you have no idea what you're talking about...Apple just had the most profitable quarter in the history of man -- because people want their products. they don't need to create an "illusion" of demand -- there IS demand! more than they can produce immediately for multiple product categories. these things don't fall off trees, they take time to be built.

Does anyone know more about this? So you think they might say you can order during your appt and then they guarantee they will be available on the 24th? Tough to believe though...

Every release people complain about this. Apple has a nearly impossible job selling these things and predicting what demand is. Sorry, it's just not that easy to guess demand.

This isn't a simple misjudging demand issue. It's a manufacturing problem issue like the white iPhone 4. Barely anyone has a chance to hit the "buy" button before it slipped from launch day to 4-6 weeks later. No way Apple's system could physically handle as many orders as you are suggesting to sellout in 2 minutes. There is an easy way to estimate demand - it's called a Focus Group. Business use them every day.

And knowing how much of a demand their products create, they consistently fail to produce enough products to meet Day 1 demand. This happens every single time, and yet you still believe this isn't deliberate.

If you didn't get an email here's how to check the status.
Go into your acct details and select cancel order
When you see that screen you can see the status of them and bypass the check order status.

Hope that helps

Ordered pretty quick. 12:05 PST. Really disappointed that I'll have to wait till the end of May.

End of May's better than my June, which is better than July, which is better than...

That was remarkably fast delivery date slippage.
Not bad for such a doomed device. Imagine if it were expected to be a hit? ;)
