Okay guys and gals,

I just talked to a contact at Apple (he's not a customer support person and that's the most I can say. but he did have information that was being distributed for phone support staff)

he said that they have a memo in which they told their phone support employees that "having a change in your order status is not an indication that you will or will not receive your watch before those who are yet to get an order update."

He went on to describe and insist "A change in order status does not indicate an April 24th delivery and the lack of a change to order status does not indicate that you will not be receiving your product at launch. On the contrary, orders are being processed differently this time around and the specifics of logistics in which bands, which models, which delivery companies, are all contributors in the timing of the status changes and will continue to be processed 24 hours a day. Orders processed today may not ship till Friday, while orders processed tonight may not ship till Monday and orders processed tomorrow may very well arrive Friday."

"The process in which the orders are being scanned and attached to the product for shipment are not being based on time of order specifically. The first come first serve only applies to the delivery window, not to the time of day. All 4/24-5/8 orders, regardless of wether they were 1 minute or 4 minutes after the Site and App went live, will be processed for the same shipping windows. The determination of the products arrival will solely be based on inventory, geographic location, and delivery provider."

"The fact that your order hasn't updated is irrelevant. Your shipping window is your shipping window, regardless. Orders began updating today and will continue to update. With most orders already in the process of shipment, it is a matter of being input into the system. Your devices arrival date has been determined regardless of when you receive the notification at 4:00pm or 4:00am, the outcome will be the same."

Basically don't count on ship dates from May 13 - 27th to actually ship till then

Yellow band?????

My friend ordered his at 2:02am CST and got his "Preparing for Shipment" notification and a charge on his card earlier today. He ordered a 42mm SG w/ Black Sport Band.

I ordered the same model at the same time and haven't received any updates or a charge.

It'll happen.

That is not any help at all. Our "shipping window" is 2 weeks wide, and that gives us no guidance about where in the 2 week period our orders will ship. We are still clueless.

but thanks for trying

Matt, there are folks who have those May dates who did see a preparing for shipment... it's really based on inventory and he said that they gave themselves such large breathing room and such big windows for delivery that he expects but can not confirm or guarantee but anticipates that the early delivery dates for an order will be met and the late delivery dates for that order will become the early delivery dates for the next shipping window.

He seemed confident. and though he isn't related to any of the dispatch or retail departments. He said that these shipping windows are not because of anything more than preparation for order variables. There are only 12 iPhone possibilities, while including bands there are dozens of watch possibilities. The shipping windows were to account for not having vast inventory for each combination possibility.

What I take form that is that my 4/24-5/8 will be more like 4/24-4/28 and your dates will be more like 5/8

ITS conjecture of course. Pure speculation. But he has helped me get a product on launch day every year since 2005 and hasn't led me astray yet.

look at the message above.

Any Canadian fellow has his order in this state?

I do. I ordered 2 Stainless Steel Classic Buckle 42mm. They are both preparing for shipment. I actually ordered them as separate orders under the same account. I ordered the first watch at 12:05(3:05), the other one at 12:08(3:08). Im in Toronto Canada. Credit card just got charged for both orders as well.

Okay guys and gals,

I just talked to a contact at Apple...blah blah...Your devices arrival date has been determined regardless of when you receive the notification at 4:00pm or 4:00am, the outcome will be the same."

The Customer Support staff at Apple are trained to give people hopeful yet non-specific information so as not to make people upset while never actually committing to anything. This is exactly that. "Oh, your order isn't updated yet? Don't worry, no one is promised anything! You might still get it on the 24th!!"

Logically, people with earlier payment processing have a greater probability of launch day receipt (assuming they aren't two days from a hub). They just do.

is all I've been getting for 20 minutes.

I ordered mine at 3:03 AM, i got the 42mm Space Grey Aluminum Sport and It still says "processing" and I haven't been charged yet :( I really hope it either happens later tonight or by the time I get up tomorrow. Anybody else in the same boat as me with the same model and time of preorder?

You just said it... assuming.

But I'm sorry pal, Im not talking to customer support staff. And he didn't give me added hope, he didn't say, don't worry you will get it too. he said you may not and others may not. They are being scanned in batches and by delivery companies. If your area is a FedEx area for Apple, then you may have already had the update, if you're a UPS then maybe not, etc. These are the kinds of things that are affecting the status changes, not the time. As we have seen because dozens of people here are claiming their late orders have changed while early ones haven't! so... with all do respect, don't suck peoples hope up and spit it out because of your own cynicism. No disrespect.

This may well be true, but if so, it's really infuriating.

Apple advertised that the Watch was "available on 4/24" and that pre-orders started at 12:01 AM on April 10. If they can't get their **** together enough to actually ship a damn watch by 4/24 to someone who ordered at 12:02 AM on April 10, that's just ridiculous.

Anyone from AUSTRALIA seeing a change to preparing for shipment? I ordered at 5.02pm so expecting to be in first batch but still no update. Abut concerning considering its Tuesday in Australia but people in USA are getting updates and it's only Monday ??

I think that we have our shipments closer to the launch date because we are closer to China. With the iPhone 6, the order status didn't change until the Wednesday before the launch but the phones were still delivered on the 19th. I'll be worried if mine doesn't change tomorrow.

EDIT: I think that it might change because I'm getting an error when I try to check the order status

Thanks for the info actually very helpfull. I've read all your recent related posts on this thread.

I just know that there are other guys like me, who don't buy much, do much, spend much, or go very many places because these launches and this technology is their "thing" their "vice" their "pleasure" their "splurge" and it means a lot to them and it is heart breaking to not be part of the hype and culture that you're passionate about.

Thanks buddy.
