Apple Watch Order Statuses Shifting to 'Preparing for Shipment'

People are coming on here to share their opinions views and beliefs and maybe to even simply talk about the Apple Watch, therefore I'm fairly confident about 2% of the people in this discussion want to watch you fight. Fellow anxious people who haven't had their order status switch yet: There are currently 5 UPS planes that are hauling absolute ASS to Anchorage. I expect these have the remaining SS/Various Sport models for launch window in them. We should be seeing more status changes change this evening as they make their way to Louisville. Everyone keep calm, they're on the way!

hahah ya I have been watching this just because it is interesting to see how they move so much stock. Hoping they are loaded with watches hahah
Can't say if this is 100% real or not but I just talked to a Apple Online store Supervisor and was told my watch is coming from Tennessee and being as how I am in Atlanta, my preparing for shipping notification will come later than those who are getting it in New Orleans or Birmingham. They begin updating based on distance from the Hub.
She couldn't say I'd be getting mine because it's not an indication of inventory, she could only say that they start preparing for shipments based on distance as the ones that are mearley a couple hours away can be updated and shipped on the same day.
I'll be honest, I don't feel any different though. Shannon could be full of ****. I had a contact on the exec level tell me yesterday that preparing to ship is not an indication of the delivery date. Hence mid May customers can get preparing to ship statuses but not get it this Friday. And visversa

FWIW, I don't think there's anything to the theories about other items you purchase having an impact on your ship date.

April 10:
3:08A ET: Ordered 42SS Classic
3:18 ET: Ordered 38 Sport White
Later that day: Ordered two sport bands
Subsequent days: Ordered Milanese loop band; Additional charger
As of yesterday, the White Sport (ordered 2nd) flipped to preparing to ship. No movement on any of the other items.
I definitely don't have any insight into what's causing status to change in what order. But I think my case demonstrates that adding things like additional watches/bands doesn't seem to have any impact one way or the other.
That said, I'd like both watches right now please

I see everyone saying their credit card has not been charged yet or whatever. Anyone else use apple pay on the apple store app? My charge went through immediately. I got my Amex card not present email before my order confirmation. I am 4/24-5/8 and still processing like most everyone else.
For those of you wondering for next time. I had the watch I wanted (42 SG Sport) saved as a favorite days before. As soon as the Apple Store Opened, I went to my favorites and clicked Buy with apple pay and it was done within 25 seconds of the store opening.

So this sounds right to me. I remember I was in the first wave of the iPhone 6 shipments. I live in Oregon and they had a bulk container in Southern California. My status didn't change until the night before launch day and I still got it next day. My Black Sport was ordered at 12:03 and is still "Processing". I'm guessing this is similar.
You're hoping you don't die before a watch comes? Well, at least you'll be able to check your pulse when it arrives! (I think that is one of the sensors that should work initially right?)
On one hand I agree, but on the other, it is fun to call out liars or posers.
This thread is starting to become stale, though I do understand everyone's feelings and frustration at Apples process for this launch and the desire to "me too" it and be part of the excitement. Heck, I did!
I too am anxious to receive a "Shipped" text from Apple. Trying to be patient. Enjoyed anyone who posted yesterday that their status had changed to "Prepping for Shipping" before I finally got my status update.
But I honestly of not believe anyone has received a "Shipped" notification. Based on the history of posters on this forum, there would definitely be at least a screenshot of the text.
Of course, I suppose, then that would lead to posters saying the screenshot was faked.
<Sigh>, won't win either way.

I'm still in the "Processing Camp" with a 38mm Black Band Sport model that was completed at 3:02am EST, no charges to card.
I'm also curious if we'll find out if the Stainless Steel link watches are going to ship before the 5/13 date I got when I got a confirmation email at 3:01am.
The removing the date on the store, the silence about orders, and the relative lack of shipping notifications compared to other Apple products makes the whole thing reek of damage control in progress. I hope it's not.
