Last I heard, they believed it'd be only 1 watch order per person. Unless either that's been disproved now or you're using two separate Apple accounts to pre-order.

Not sure about the online ordering but the store pick up was said to be 1 per customer. Just to be sure I will order one on my account and my wife will order 1 on hers.

They are obviously going with the withholding supply tactic. Once the new iPhone comes out, they will flood the market. Just "watch".

One thing that astounds me is that, on one hand, Apple/Angela Ahrendts talk like they are trying to make the Apple experience a more luxurious/higher end product, yet large portions of the purchasing public have to get out of bed at ridiculous times in the slim hopes of ordering a launch day product. Believe me, there is nothing classy about seeing me at 3am* sitting in front of my iMac in my boxers!

*No, nobody is FORCING me, I get it.... But it all seems rather contradictory to me, just my opinion.

There may be demand, AT FIRST, with all the curious people who "just gotta have one first" lining up, but that demand will fall quickly and Apple will be begging people to come in and buy their watch.

How long before the watch is found in the stores next to the iPod?

All the comments on the local news stations say it's overhyped, overpriced, and under-equipped (battery).

I just spoke to Apple UK about pre-ordering for in-store pick up and they said they weren't sure and to keep checking on the web page for more information.

A watch is one of the few items I would definetly not want to buy online. You need to try it on, look at it properly, etc. I'm sure this will sell well to the usual Apple fans but to the rest I think not.

This is INCREDIBLY exciting!!!

We get to see the best marketing company in the world work their very hardest - going after every marketing angle known (and trying things never done before) to make this launch a success.

Will they succeed? This is a true test that I find riveting! I bet this is the first time apple execs have every been nervous. Even if it fails, they sure do have a lot of cash to soften their landing!

I wondered (and hoped) that when we had the option to "mark our favorites" in the online store, that Apple would use the data to see configurations with the highest consumer interest and then bump up manufacturing accordingly.

I wonder if interest in certain watch configurations has been on par with Apple's expectations? 42mm Space Gray Sport, for example.

I just hope Samsung didn't pay people to increase the 'mark our favourites' on the online store, so that :apple: would be left with too much excess stock.... I wouldn't put it past our most 'favourite' competitor...

You are completely guessing on the demand and have no way of knowing if that is true. But I am also going to agree with you and say I think it will not even come close to selling or the demand of the iPhone 6+.

so what Angela'a really saying is....come to the store and try it on...fine, and go home to order. ? I think they're going to lose a lot of folks who won't make that final step to close the sale. I think they'd be better off having a kiosk/dedicated computer/ipad where you can order it in the store right after trying it on.

"Apple Watch Orders Exclusively Online at Launch, Demand Expected to Exceed Supply"

wow, who woulda thought demand would have exceeded supply? really people? this should come as no surprise unless you've been completely cutoff from the entire world since 2007 when Apple first dropped the bomb.

In other news, the Titanic sank.

It hasn't sunk yet. It'll hit the first iceburg at 12:02am PST.... Sinking will begin shortly after. lol

I have $100 that says you're 100% wrong. heck, I'll even up the bet with a 10:1 odds. lol

That seems like a stretch but you better be careful saying anything negative about that company on the Apple Forums. ;)

This is so very true. I hate buying clothes online without trying on for fit and if it looks good on me. I still do it unfortunately and sometimes I regret it big time. Same for a watch as they are labeling it as a fashion statement and that may require someone to try it on first. Yet, I won't go to the store and try it on. I will just order it.

If everything is to be pushed online, what's the point of Angela?

IT's more like whats the point of a retail store....Make the store a showroom, direct all sales online, and service the products? Doesn't sound like a good recipe for success.

True that.... I am ready for the backlash....

But in my earlier post, I did also say ':apple: is doomed', so I guess I maybe ok....

Can we still order online and pick up in store on the 24th?

That's what they are saying but it may vary by country and I "think" you can order more than one if you order online. They say you can only order one at the store.

Also, you know how Apple likes to launch things on a Friday and how they said 'early 2015' for the watch. Well their 'early' finishes at the end of April.

Ship one week later and they'd have to admit they shipped late and have to explain why. Maybe they have launched before they've been able to make as many as they would like.

They clearly needed the time to iron out kinks, and from the sounds of the reviews they're probably still desperately working on that.

I think they'd be better off having a kiosk/dedicated computer/ipad where you can order it in the store right after trying it on.

Can you not use one of their computers/iPads on display or your phone to order it right in the store?

Two things: One, I wouldn't want to buy a watch that someone else has worn before. Second, in the UK anyone selling online has to accept returns. Combined: Every time a watch in the UK is returned, that is one watch that I wouldn't want to buy. And probably many people wouldn't. I wonder what Apple will be doing about that.

Australia might be the real winners here; we get 8hrs to try them on before pre-orders start at 5pm for us. Those in the States of America - if they hope for launch day stock - have to pre-order before they can try them on.

So, 9am in Sydney, Australia is 7pm TONIGHT EST.

Your duty to the rest of us is to give us reports about how the watch seems in the Apple Stores. Hopefully I can start reading that at 8-9:00 tonight.
