Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for the Apple Watch in Italy on May 8, according to Italian website iSpazio. The report, citing an internal source, claims that Apple Stores in the country have already received Apple Watch advertising materials and display tables for the wrist-worn device that will be setup on May 7 to prepare for the launch.

While not mentioned directly in the report, iSpazio administrator Fabiano Confuorto told MacRumors that Apple Watch pre-orders in Spain and "a lot of other" second wave launch countries will also begin on May 8. Confuorto did not specify which other countries, but we will update this article if additional regions are confirmed.

The sales process will reportedly be identical to the United States and other first wave countries, with Apple Watch pre-orders taken exclusively online at launch for delivery to home and, after the pre-order window ends, in-store pickup. Presumably, try-on appointments should also be available on May 8 in the second wave launch countries.

Second wave launch countries for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year included Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. Shipping times for the pre-orders could be 4-6 weeks or later in those countries based on current estimates on the Apple Online Store in the United States.

Apple Watch pre-orders became available on April 10 at 12:01 AM Pacific through the Apple Online Store in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and United Kingdom, and sold out completely in less than six hours. The company also began taking Apple Watch try-on appointments the same day at Apple retail stores and select fashion boutiques such as Selfridges in London, Isetan in Tokyo and Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

Update: According to 9to5Mac, Apple currently has no plans to start taking second-wave pre-orders on May 8.

Even though preorders are seemingly falling behind, the fact that they're continuing the launch in other countries may imply that they are confident that production will suffice.

No way are they going to open preorders in May to not receive your watch until late June or July or even later out of the gate.

Here's hoping they reserved some watches for those countrys and they won't start with "june" delivery dates.

Will countries that doesn't have an Apple Retail Store like Singapore to be part of the second wave?

DONT TAKE ANY ORDER TIL I GET MINE !!!!!!!!
still hoping i was in the 4/24-5/8 group ordered 2:02
couple more days to go , hoping for friday but if not im sure it will come following week

I have a feeling that the 2nd wave countries are the ones that have a page for the Watch already, and promising a 2015 release. In some cases you're greeted with an Apple Watch banner on the main page (some have updated that to the newest ecological manifest from Apple).

Example:
www.apple.com/fi/watch
www.apple.com/es/watch
www.apple.com/it/watch

Example of that not being the case:
www.apple.com/pt/watch
www.apple.com/pl/watch
www.apple.com/gr/watch

If this would be confirmed, I would cancel my order via a freight forwarder from Germany.

"Second wave countries", since Apple doesn't care much for them do they get to pay less?

Btw. has anyone in France or Germany got an order update or a shipping confirmation?

I'm from Germany and the status of my Apple Watch Sports 42mm White Sport Band has been updated 2 hours ago to "Versand wird vorbereitet" ("preparing for shipment"). I'm so happy now :) I guess, this is a good sign to have it delivered this Friday! *yay* :D

I really don't think anyone has ordered an Apple Watch since 10th (or at least in any significant number)

8th May with the same 2 week wait wouldn't really affect existing orders

I live in Italy and iSpazio is well known to be just a very very useless information source also considering they limit their job to badly translate stuff they regularly find on trusted international blogs like this one.

Actually they have NO IDEA! so please don't take them seriously because even in the case they aren't wrong it will be just because they made a lucky guess. The reason why they don't talk about the other second wave countries is also because again they have no idea. This is only a mere wild speculation and the only people reading that blog are just poor stupid italians who can't understand english and can't follow the feeds where the news originally come from. iSpazio is in the wild for the sake of earning easy money with advertisement and nothing else.

They have no way to gather real fresh and original news from unofficial sources.

I seldom read news on iSpazio since I don't find it very reliable.

Last week in Milan I asked about the availability and although they didn't give me an official answer they suggested me it will be available in June, so preorder on May the 8th with 4-6 weeks delivery may be an educated guess.

Would be awesome if the Netherlands would be in that second wave. Even if the estimated delivery date is still June or something, I would be satisfied already. Having the (pre-)order placed is something, right? :)

Can't wait to order that Apple Watch Sport Space Gray! :D

I'd really like them to ship my 42mm SS w/ Milanese loop first

I agree Jason. Received confirmation email on 4/10 at 12:04:01am. Still no charge or change in status.

Wife and daughter both ordered 42mm SS with classic buckle, both charged, both show preparing to ship

I was wondering about that too. It doesn't seem like the ship dates have changed much since end of day April 10. I think it's mostly that Apple's ship windows are much broader than in the past. Mine has like a three-week window for shipping, but new orders ship in June, which gives them a huge 30-day window. Also, I think they seem to be increasingly underpromising on the dates because people tend to complain less when they get something a couple weeks early than a couple weeks late. Everyone I know with a ship date of April 24 - May XX is getting one on April 24.
