So again, for those who don't understand Cook's way of doing things (as compared to Jobs): the pro watch is actually the real Apple Watch. And the regular Apple Watch is now the cheaper, K-Mart version meant to make share holders happy. Same with iPads. Same with iPhones. Same with Macs. The pro is the real device, not a luxury one.
At least Apple still offer the watered down non-Pro hardware & items so the peasants can still get their Apple branded gear.

I agree! We haven’t heard a lot about the Apple Watch. I really hope Apple is not going to play us this year as they did with Apple Watch 7. I don't want incremental upgrades.
I hope Apple has been able to keep the leaks at a minimum and ends up surprising us with something worth upgrading to, even for the $399 model.

On the contrary, I don’t sense in putting out a new $399 AW 8 if the upgrades are as sparse as the rumors suggest.

But seeing all the things inflation and international conflict is making most other businesses do, maybe 2022 will Apple’s lowest performance/$ lineup?

I'd like to see Graphene Aluminium-ion batteries being deployed in devices like watches. Battery capacities seem to have plateued and much of battery life gains have been the result of chip/screen efficiencies. Being able to charge a device in 5mins would be the next best thing provided its battery life is comparable to current lithium-ion batteries. It'll be interesting to see where things go over the next several years.

I struggle a bit with wrist pain, the watch digs into my wrist, something that doesn't happen with Garmin so a design change is welcome for me.

I've never damaged a regular AW so not too worried about "Rugged" but damn does this thing need better battery life. My last cycle with this watch, there were times I forgot and left in on the charger, because it's always on the charger in the morning and evening.

This thing absolutely must have significantly better battery life if it's going for a $1,000. The offering just isn't that good to warrant that price any more. Garmin has really upped their watches with the recent changes. Apple needs to keep up.

If it doesn’t have at least a week long battery life then they have missed the mark for me. And I know it won’t happen for this generation but solar charging would be great. Also it needs to have sapphire if it’s the “durable” one. I’m surprised none of the rumours are mentioning sapphire.

Also I really wish they would change the software so that you have your watch face with complications and then widgets just a click away so that you can access information quickly that doesn’t fit on your watch face. Kinda how Garmin does it but I’m sure Apple can do a better job of it. I’ve had 3 Garmin and they’re kinda crap in the “smart” part of smart watch.
