The U.S. doesn't have the labor force. It's why Apple only brought over the Mac pro. It doesn't sell too many so it can be handled but they probably used up all the manufacturing potential in that area.
"Used up all the manufacturing potential"? Do you honestly believe that? L-effin'-OL!

Clearly something major is wrong and they're coming up with excuses. My money is on defective parts slowing down production. I think they've tried to push out the watch before it was ready to go.

finally tried one on yesterday. it is WAY less bulky than it looks in the ad. i tried it on with the band i want the millanese loop. i was shocked at how light it was on my wrist. but stainless with the loop band is $699!! i will never pay that much for a watch. but i have been using the viggle app for quite a while. in march i earned enough point on my account for a16gb iPad. as soon as i got it i took it to the apple store and traded it in for the 128gb model. so basically i got a $699 iPad for $200. i started 2 other viggle accounts in my parents names. since doing 3 takes about the same amount of time as 1 since i have multiple devices. soooo, i'm going to work the same deal to get a watch for $200. and a new iPad air 3 when they come out in the spring. apple is still making their money on me but i'm getting great deals. since i am usually watching TV anyway why not earn points while i do it? plus i learned a lot of giggle tricks to earn faster. 330,000 points a month per account. 2 million for an iPad.

It was pretty obvious both black models were gonna be very limited at first, otherwise they would have had more band options with them. Especially the SBSS would have been offered with a BSB instead of only releasing it at the highest price. Who wants a black watch anyway? I got mine on release day and I'm waiting to buy some more bands in store...

Umm, apparently A LOT OF PEOPLE!!!

I'm not even talking about wages I'm just talking about eligible people. How many cities in the United States have hundreds of thousands of people available to do this work?

The factory that makes the watch, Quanta Computer, reportedly only went from 2,000 workers to between 20,000 and 30,000.

As an aside, the user customized Moto X apparently only cost an extra $4 to $5 to be assembled in Texas instead of overseas.

Also, I wonder if Apple is planning to invest heavily in researching assembler robots like Google supposedly has. That would make moving to the US easier as well.

This sounds like spam.

Quanta blames limited Apple Watch production on worker shortages

Without mentioning the Apple Watch by name, the vice chairman of manufacturer Quanta Computer said on Friday that initial production of a client's wearable was limited because of workforce shortages, although his company has since caught up.

Holidays are important, but so are the needs of your B2B customers and thousands or millions of end customers.

If this story is accurate then someone really messed up here.

"Used up all the manufacturing potential"? Do you honestly believe that? L-effin'-OL!

Obviously it can always grow but that takes a lot of time. If you honestly believe America has the labor force, machines, ect to handle somthing like the iPhone then LOL to you.

Those comments are so relevant and appropriate here. The humor in his comments is because of the irony.

You have so many RAGE posts here about not getting these watches quicker. Rage about supply, rage about launch, rage about missing the preorder boat by 30 minutes and being set back weeks.

On the other hand, the same crowd rages about Chinese labor, unfair wages, unfair work practices, slave labor, sweatshop environment etc.

So I'd say his humor is spot on relevant here.

Yes, it must be one or the other, cuz you're dumb.

You can google it... It's a thing, it's taught in marketing 101 and it works - especially for a company like Apple. Am I positive Apple is using this as a marketing tool for selling the watch? - No, but I'm reasonably sure, because this sure smells like it.

Like I said, let's just see what mix of watches is available in the coming weeks... and let's see how easy it is to get one at the end of June.

You'll be amazed.

I'm not saying your wrong, but in my case I have not placed an order yet simply because I would have to wait until July to get it anyways. In fact, I just spent the ~$800 I had set aside for it on a new monitor for my gaming desktop (Asus Rog Swift). The wait has made them lose sale at least for now. Also, that monitor is awesome.

Ordered my Apple Watch SG-BSB in 05/01 and just got an update saying delivery is expected in 5-7 weeks.

[But, with today's possible hint at an even more amped up production line alongside Apple's already impressive attempt to come in ahead of delivery expectations, it's still possible many orders will reach their owners ahead of time.

This is one of the most hilarious things I've ever read on Macrumors, and why I'm taking this site less and less seriously.

Anticipating the :apple: watch many years ago, I became a Kickstarter backer of the Pebble watch. The campaign on Kickstarter was in April and the watch was to ship the following September. From the time I placed my preorder (which is what you are really doing on Kickstarter) until I received my watch was 1 year and 9 days.

I placed my order for a Silver Sport watch with a WSB on the 7th of May, and as of today I have a shipping window of June 23 to July 8. This is a walk in the park compared what we all went through with Pebble. And, yes we had the exact same stories of Chinese New Year, and sub-par parts.

On the Pebble launch we saw the same thing with early orders and people feeling they were pushed out of the line because of the color they chose. I was one of the earliest backers, but because I chose a gray watch I was pushed toward the end of the line because Pebble could not get the color right, and eventually I had to switch color to black in order to get a watch at all.

To those who argue that they seem to have only worked their way through the first 12 minutes of orders I would say possibly, however, look at how many orders there were in that time frame and after that things became a lot less hectic.

After what we went through with the Pebble launch, I do not for an instant believe or even think that Apple is attempting to do anything with this launch except get as many quality watches to as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

Pure BS to compensate for managerial /marketing error.
Either have enough to ship in maximum of three weeks or don't offer them.
Ordering forGraduation, Mother/Fathers/Bithdays is put at mercy of marketing people wanting to create "buzz". Greedy self centered thinking. Makes me think twice about any addition Apple product orders.:mad::mad::mad:

So... Does this mean people will be getting their watches earlier than expected?

got confirmed 14 minutes after launch, got delevery estimate between 13-27 may and still no change on status of the order. Imagine

The only thing impressive about this launch has been how impressively slow the watches are being shipped. I ordered on 4/10 at 12:14am Pacific time and still processing. :(

I ordered at 12:05AM and just got the watch yesterday. given that you're almost 10min behind me and it took them this long to fulfill the first 5minutes of orders you still have a decent wait ahead.

They had months to prepare. If they had workforce shortages it's due to incompetence.

You probably ordered a lower demanded model (mine is Sport black). If I followed correctly there has been couple of people who got confirmed at 12 past launch and got their watch two days ago. I am not stressed because I look into the product that much. I am just angry because Sunday I leave the States for 4 months and because it will arrive later I will have to find someone coming to the same place to bring it to me... Extra hustle because of Apple

Nope ordered 42MM Sport Space Gray.

That sucks. This is the first time I ever order on pre order for a Gen 1 product. Never again.

Nope ordered 42MM Sport Space Gray.

Maybe 5 to 12 minutes were included in the same shipping idk. Any way, people ordered at past 12 got theirs two days ago. Maybe we are waiting for the second phase within 13-27 may

Well my watch still says "Processing" since day one. I am starting to think that I am gonna get my watch next year.

I've felt the same way. I have the same watch and delivery date and I'm getting tired of waiting. I keep checking my email and the Apple store several times a day to see if the status has changed. Just keep hanging on, delivery within 2 weeks!
