Holding back this kind of product shipment will only harm company sales in the short and long run. The price for the watch will be the same now or next year, we’re not paying higher prices for anything. Why would we rush and buy a product that will not arrive until about 2 months later? What you say does not apply to electronic devices sold from apple. This isn’t food or something that we need to survive so holding back shipments of this kind of product does nothing but hurt their own sales.

Scarcity marketing works best with luxury goods. Things you don't need. The Apple watch is one of those...

My last reply to this subject... You know, I can see your point of view, I can see how it seems the logical answer. Using scarcity as a marketing tool is not intuitive. You might call it a paradox.

"Used up all the manufacturing potential"? Do you honestly believe that? L-effin'-OL!

I do.

Did you know that Foxconn where they make the iPhone has as many as 450,000 employees in one location in China?

It's literally a city with it's own TV station, recreational facilities, fire brigade, grocery stores, banks, hospital; an entire infrastructure.

What's more typically employees work 12 hours a day 6 days a week. A quarter of the staff live in dormitories on site.

They get paid about $12,000 a year. Or about $3.20 an hour. Vastly more than minimum wage over there.

So where in America do you think you'd find 450,000 skilled workers willing to do that?

To double the wages to even come close to hitting America's minimum wage would cost Apple $103 million dollars a week. And American workers would probably need medical care, and we have the most expensive health care system in the world, so that's not going to be cheap either.

Bottom line is, I think many Americans don't get the shear scale of what goes into making products as popular as the iPhone, and if the Apple Watch were made in the US, shipping times would be many months away not a few weeks.

My status with Apple is now preparing shipment! Ordered April 10th, 3:13am EST

Picked mine up from UPS on Friday. Had a great weekend with it. Battery life is excellent, never used more than half the battery in a day.

On Sunday I was eating brunch and it told me I was checking into a Marriott today, let me check in with a couple of taps. The key will be waiting for me when I arrive.

Today is my first business trip with it, excited to see it handle different time zones.

Good luck with yours!

Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Sport Band
Available to ship: 5 - 7 weeks
Delivers: 23 Jun, 2015 - 08 Jul, 2015 by Standard Shipping

Better than mid July at least. I'm more glad I got a date range.

My 42mm Stainless with Milanase Loop arrived on 5/15, having been ordered on the afternoon of April 10th. It originally said June, then May 29-June 11. So they beat the estimate by a few weeks. Glad the wait is finally over.

Out for delivery

I've felt the same way. I have the same watch and delivery date and I'm getting tired of waiting. I keep checking my email and the Apple store several times a day to see if the status has changed. Just keep hanging on, delivery within 2 weeks!

According to my tracking number, my watch should've delivered about two hours ago! I'm staring out the window waiting for the big brown truck! Come on already!
