The lowest is 827 and the highest is 852 that's not much of a spread so it seems to me that people aren't quite sure what to use them for or perhaps the bar of what we expect is low.

This seems to be a yea it works like they said type of deal.

Yes, but this will not happen this year, if we believe the rumors.
And by next year, the smartphone industry will have moved on to something more than 8 core phones, waterproofing, 4k screens, removable storage, and wireless charging. I can't see the iPhone 8 even having those features, let alone the VR developments taking place by Google that will be in the next generation of Android phones.

Im a mac user (have been for a long long time) but I use the samsung gear s2 because:

1) its round and the benzel is easier to use than the nob on the side of the apple watch for left handers
2) can go 2 or 3 days on a charge
3) heart rate works for me (I have hairy arms)
4) cost me 1/2 of the apple watch
I have an Apple Watch, but I recently bought a Huawei Watch. I find it to be much better than the Apple Watch. It doesn't have a large range of pointless features that I will never use, but focuses on what is important - notifications and relevant information. Apple seem to have forgotten that in order to use an Apple Watch, you must have an iPhone. Certain functions are simply better performed on a phone. Why have those types of features on the watch in the first place? All they do is clutter it up, and slow it down.

Fact is many people don't find many of these features to be important or essential, let alone all of them at once. Life outside of this blog is very different.

The statement about the iPhone 8 is silly. Nobody knows what features it'll have.

The gullible still fall for this marketing company, JD Power, that is paid by the recipient for the award? Think about it. What company pays staff to do research then issue free award and advertising? I even worked for a company that received such award.

Considering those phones are much slower, throttle and have bad frame rates (and sell less) even with 8 cores (which can't all be used at full capacity at the same time, you do know that), what exactly is Apple missing right now? Producing some half assed product because the tech is NOT READY is not the Apple way.

Apple may put in the phone a true tone display of the Ipad (the best display around, beats even OLEDs) with a digitizer like the pros and that will be more useful to the average user than a half assed VR.

Funny how removable storage as existed from the start and Apple never put it in? Why? Because its slow as hell.
Wireless charging is a useless gadget : slow, inefficient and you can't use the device while it happens.

The 6s is not reputed waterproof but seemingly does pretty good at it anyway.

Like it or not market research firms would fall over one another to be another Jd power; while many narrow-minded people don't give them any due, companies pay them big time to study their products and operations.

Thank you for a sensible post this is exactly what I'm thinking.

In order to use any smart watch to full capacity a Bluetooth connection is needed, whether it be phone or computer. Apple Watch is an extension of the iPhone and there are various interactions that save one from pulling their phone from their pocket, that go beyond mere run of the mill notifications. At any rate is a personal decision.

That's not the point I am making. Apple, Facebook, Google etc seem to think it's important to bombard us with notifications, alerts & messages all day long. They design their products to constantly nag us all day long for attention. As humans, we have fallen in line with this mentality. We think we need to react immediately to them.

I've started to get annoyed by all the notifications I receive on a daily basis and I think to myself "**** it, I'll reply/respond/react when *I* can be bothered too". At the end of the day, it's never that important. It's bad enough getting nagged by my iPhone/iPad/PC/iMac/MacBook and even my damn smart TV all day long, I think it would send me over the edge if my bloody watch started to cry for my attention as well.

And, in every case, notifications can be turned off. If you don't understand how to turn them off then that might be your real problem.

To paraphrase you. Those phones score much better in multi-core benchmarks, and only slightly slower on single core benchmarks (depending on the phone of course). The fact that Android phones in the same price range as the iPhone have better multi-core scores could have something to do with them having over 400% more processing power; they don't have bad frame rates either; they represent 85% of the smartphone market and are selling really well. It would seem that Apple is missing quite a bit right now, by producing a half-assed product with three year old tech. No wonder they have lost so much market share to Android.

Apple may put a true tone display, similar to the iPad in their next phone, but unless it is 4k, it will be far less useful to the average user. VR is a very useful feature, and where the tech industry is going.

Funny how removable storage, has existed for some time now, and Apple don't make this available. Why? Because Apple can charge ridiculous prices for more memory in a phone, and effectively force customers to upgrade from the base models of iPhone, by making them almost unusable. Wireless charging is not a useless gadget at all, and many phones have fast charging even through wireless connections. Most of these same phones also have fast charging through a wired connection. Most Android phones you can still use while they are charging, unlike the Apple Watch, the only product that Apple offers this type of charging on.

The 6s simply isn't waterproof; many of the alternatives are. No one with any degree of common sense is going to risk getting their iPhone wet, yet many Android users regularly wash their phones to remove dirt, and some even take underwater footage using them.

Qualcomm is cutting cores and changing architecture, the last gen was just too hot and throttled way to much.

What thread is this again? Oh yeah, android vs iOS.

Samsung doesn't tell how many Gear watches they have sold.

Likewise, Apple doesn't tell how many Apple Watches it has sold, or how much of their AW related revenue is due to bands.

So we have to rely on estimates.

Because nobody buys that s---, and presenting sales less than 1M would be a joke.

IDC estimates that there were 1.7 million Tizen based watches sold in 2015.

WTH, "slightly slower", that's not what I said BUD. Keep your words in your own mouths. That's not what the current tests show at all. The A9 is still faster, and doesn't throttle. That's it. Seriously, stop putting words in the mouth of people.

So Apple is just doing the same as Samsung, not hiding anything.

Who's hiding is Samsung that doesn't present sales numbers for ANYTHING at all! Not for phones, or tablets, or laptops, or anything.

IDC estimates that there were 1.7 million Tizen based watches sold in 2015.

I meant 1 million per quarter!
