After the other suggestions were unsuccessful, this worked for me:
  1. On iPhone, open Settings > Your Name > iCloud and turn Reminders OFF
  2. When prompted, delete all reminders from the iPhone (they are still safely stored in iCloud)
  3. Still on iPhone, open the Reminders app, it should now be empty. If not delete any local reminders (you will need to manually re-add these to iCloud later - maybe temporarily write them on paper)
  4. Force Quit the Reminders app on iPhone and turn iCloud Reminders back ON
  5. Still on iPhone, open the Reminders app, you will see it downloading your Reminders from iCloud
  6. Finally, open Reminders on Apple Watch and watch it sync the Reminders from iCloud
iPhone 11 Pro - iOS 13.2
Watch S3 (GPS) - WatchOS 6.1

Shame on me for not backing up the reminders on my watch before trying this... this deleted all reminders that were on my watch. Apparently they had not been synced to iCloud. So be careful!

Yea, I tried this and not only did it not fix my Apple Watch syncing issue, but I also had to reenter all of my Reminders - not one of them came back to the phone. If I log into the Reminders iCloud web app, I can see them...sort of (they are all missing the dates, times, and recurrence information), but they did not sync back to my phone. Luckily, I screenshotted everything first. I re-entered all of these (took a while), now in iCloud I can see both the old ones (no info) and the new ones (with the correct info). None of these sync to my watch.

In fact, I think I've tried every solution on here, none of them fixed the Watch sync issue (Series 4, FYI).

Curious, in the Apple Watch app on my phone (11 Pro Max), I don't have a Reminders app listed - meaning, I can't adjust settings or uninstall the app from my watch. I even tried deleting the Reminders app from the phone, re-installed (which BTW, this time my Reminders did come back, thankfully), but still no Apple Watch app listed for Reminders. Is this true for everyone?

There is no Reminder option in the Watch app.

Ok, well, thanks for clearing that up, still it sucks that I can't use the Hey Siri on my Watch to add Reminders since it won't sync back to phone.

Really odd you are still having this issue. Everyone did at first but it’s fixed long ago.

Lucky me. I will say that before I reset iCloud, it took 5-10 seconds to open each list, same with opening the Notification pop-up so that I could mark it Complete, now that happens very quickly, so that was worth the effort. However, I really would love to find a solution to sync problem.

Thank you. This worked for me

Good afternoon, I just updated my Apple Watch 5 and my iPhone 8 to OS7 and iOS 14 respectively hoping that my sync issues with reminders would be resolved. Then I called apple support and unpaired and paired my watch, still no love! My problem is that the reminder complication on my Apple Watch does not update the reminders that are due today. The complication says “none today” but when I open the app on both my watch and my phone there are 2 showing in the “today” tab. I had these types of issues with OS 6 too but it was intermittent. Now its constant. Any ideas? Thanks

I've been running all of the betas and now the first public released versions but I continue to have issues. In fact, I had to log out of iCloud on my SE 2000 2 days to get rid of the settings badge bug and now Reminders on my phone are not syncing (before that the issue was only on the watch (series 4), and that remains an issue). Very frustrating

I can tell you that I have been on the phone with Apple support twice. The first time we went through all of the possible fixes including unpairing and pairing. Today they finally told me that this is a “software” issue and that I need to wait for the next software update. I was indeed waiting for this software update to fix a previous reminder complication issue. The previous issue had the complication showing an incorrect status that would change depending on whether I had anything due or not. Now the complication is simply not functional at all. So they did “fix” the previous issue and now the complication is dead. I agree that it is frustrating! I will now remove the complication from my favorite watch faces and wait...Thanks for replying Alhagar. Terry

Ok so software updated to 14.0.1 and 7.0.1 and the reminders complication still shows “none today” when there are actually some reminders set for today 🙁

I have spent many hours over the last several months trying to get Reminders working on my Apple Watch, including all the suggestions on this thread. But what worked for me, finally, was this from post #3:

Force quit reminders on the iPhone
Turn off the watch and turn it back on again
Open reminders on the iPhone
Open reminders on the watch

Thank you! I didn't follow the directions exactly. Rather than force quitting Reminders, I deleted it from my phone. I didn't know that you could remove Reminders or any Apple app, but I did. I had to download the app using App Store and then re-install it on the Watch, but suddenly I had reminders on my Watch again. I hope it keeps working.

I do not recommend un-pairing the Watch. That was a real pain to get working again for me, and it had no effect.

Well, the 'fix' worked for a few hours, but once again there is no communication from the Watch to the iPhone, iMac, or iCloud. I'll try again when the next IOS and Apple Watch version is released. What a pain!
I've gone back to using MinimaList. It's not as nice perhaps, but it works.
