Apple Watch Series 12 or Ultra 4

Great timing for this topic, I’m looking at the same decision even though I just got an 11 a year ago. I made the mistake of getting black, and the hot desert southwest sun makes it quite uncomfortable to wear outside.

My concern about the Ultra has always been the size, but you guys make it sound like it’s not an issue, and that it’s indestructible. I guess I’ll need to get to the Apple Store and check out the 4 when it’s out and available.

I decided to order one. The band selection was a disappointment, but I have a couple of Nike bands from my 11 that are still in good shape will work on the Ultra if I understand it correctly.

I had the S0, S3, S6, S7 then got the U3. Like the battery, don't like the bulk. Going back to the S12.

Appreciate your feedback. Coming from many S# series I was thinking about going to AWU4 - but the bulkiness (especially for sleep tracking) is making me think about staying with Series and take the S12...

I had the Ultra 1-3 and I liked the watch, but this is the 5th straight year of the same design and it really needs some improvements IMO. It is quite bulky and while I appreciate battery life (it still needs to be charged every 24 hours for my use case). At least they are adding a new chip. On Watch OS27 Siri is very slow for even the most basic tasks.

I use the Nike bands on my Ultra when exercising. No issue at all.

Yup. That’s what I use to exercise with my Ultra - an old Nike band. 🙂

You can turn off 911 dialing in Apple Watch app. There’s no need putting a case or screen protector on an aw ultra. They are rugged as heck. Anyway, good choice. That’s my favorite band and since I’ve been rocking the natural since s1 ultra (no choice back then) think I’m going black. Just need to decide on the color band. I’m only getting $190 for my trade, but that’s pretty good for a 4 year old watch. I also get 10% military discount so that takes a good chunk off the price too. Enjoy!

I don’t want to turn it off, the lockout prevents accidents. As I pointed out the case is not for protection I decided a screen protector is unnecessary the watch lives on my arm 24/7 under long sleeves only off for charging.

It looks like the AWU4 has the same case dimensions as the Ultra 3 the lockout Spigen will fit the AWU4.

I have no problem with the size of the AWU, think of it as an advanced divers watch which are often even larger then the AWU. If you wear your AW 24/7 battery life is an important consideration.

In my possibles bag I Carry this Anker PowerCore Battery. It can charge everything iOS, and more. You can position the AW on the charging disk and use a watch band like the Alpine Loop to tightly strap the watch down so it cannot move.

What is the battery working time on 12 model? Is it max 1 day vs 2-3 days vs AWU4?
What do You think it is better to buy, AWU3+extra guatantee (swimming) or AWU4 without it?
