Do you reckon this will still be available if I don't purchase EE contract until next month?

Probably. EE generally keep their offers as long as they run. Take Apple Music for example which they offer six months free. Been on that twice in last couple of years.

Just seen the prices for the Apple Watch but it doesn't say how much or what to do if you buy your watch from Apple then want to add to your plan how much it will cost.

I am not interested in 24 month contracts for a watch from EE that I will sell next September
If you buy from Apple there's no extra charge from EE

I found the terms and conditions for EE's smart watch data plan - this looks like the terms for the add-on you'll buy if you bought the watch outright from apple. The pdf is available here:

http://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/Help-PDFs/smart-watch-pay-monthly-simo-plan-terms-2017-v1.pdf

I've skimmed through it and the stand-out feature is that it's a 30-day contract. If I'm reading it right, you can add it and take it off as you please, presumably just like the data plans for the iPad.

I really hope I'm right on this - I won't always need data on the watch so turning it off when I'm out the country (it doesn't support roaming) so this looks like a good deal.

So just to confirm, I could get a 12 month contract for EE and then ADD-ON the £5 extra a month or whatever and cancel it every 30 days if I want to?

If I sign for EE now and want to move in the future I assume the esim isn't locked then to EE

Thanks for the replies. Does EE 4g drop to 3G or lower if in a poor / uncovered signal area or is it 4g or nothing?

Just called EE to change my sim only plan, only get 4gb of data at present. Advised I wouldn't get Apple Music for 6months again and when asked about the watch I just gave up all faith. His response when I enquired about the 6 months free then £5 a month was, "we will have more info on the 22nd but you will have to order a mini sim from us" I advised him it had an electronic sim built in and decided I wasn't agreeing to another 12 months with this network just yet. The customer service is the worst.

Ther

there seems to be conflicting advice on this
The woman from EE said it's free where you just use your normal data plan from your phone but as you said different reports

Wow, I didn’t realise that. Deal breaker for me in that case, outside of 4G network and then you get nothing! How good is EE’s 4G network
Very good generally

Never seen a place where 4G isn't available.

AW3 is able to support UMTS 2100 - it says so on the supported frequency bands. It is just that the service provider(EE) have chosen not to support it.

Ok here is what EE guy said

If you buy the Apple Watch Series 3 (4G) outright from a official Apple UK retail partner, then you can also benefit from EE connectivity with six months free unlimited data and then it’s £5 per month for 10GB.

You’ll also need a compatible iPhone, on an EE pay monthly handset or SIM only plan, to do this which is one of the following:

  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X
To set up a data plan, just download the Apple Watch Series 3 (4G) app.

You’ll need your EE log in details, or you can register for an EE account today

Then simply:

  1. Open the Apple Watch Series 3 (4G) app on your iPhone
  2. The app will then take you through setting up your Apple Watch Series 3 (4G) , things like Apple Pay etc
  3. Select Set up Mobile Data
  4. Log in using your EE log in details
  5. Select the Apple Watch Series 3 (4G) plan and agree to Terms

You can find our offers to get the Apple Watch Series 3 (4G), with full connectivity, directly from EE at: https://shop.ee.co.uk/apple-watch-series-3

Hope this helps,

Lee

There are patches in greater London that drop to 3G for me, so sods law when you really need a connection on the watch, you'll be in one of these spots...

Not good enough for me to risk it in rural England. Would be better in cities I imagine.

I also believe that wireless will only work on the watch if you have first used the that wifi network on the iPhone and that you can't go on a new wifi network straight from phone.

For me I'm prob better with non cell version

Hi,

Just to add what I was told by the manager in the EE store in Glasgow Silverburn Mall. He confirmed that it would be six months free of charge with unlimited data, and then £5 per month with 10 GB data cap.

Also, I called in to the Glasgow Silverburn store and the Three Manager there told me that Three have no plans to offer services to the Apple Watch because they have had their fingers burned with previous cellular smart watches! He said that this is company policy not just his own opinion. If this is true then I find it extremely short sighted of Three!

I've heard that the other networks simply do not have the backend number sharing technology that EE has, and so could not offer plans for the Apple Watch even if they wanted to.

(And, considering the snail's pace progression on other features like visual voicemail and Wi-Fi calling, I wouldn't expect that to change anytime soon.)

Seeing as I am not on EE and I do not like the fact there is no other competition I will skip the 4G watch and 'maybe' change my series 0 stainless steel to a series 3 standard stainless steel model.

Sadly there is no "wifi" steel. It's LTE all the way. I'm an Apple fanboy and I think sometimes they just seem determined to shoot themselves in the foot. I'm happy for my watch to be tethered to my phone. The watch has 16GB capacity. I can (theoretically) run all day and listen to music without the need to "stream". However I couldn't do that because it would be flat within the first two hours.

LTE is great. And, what an achievement! But honestly? It's an occasional use luxury, for those that run or more likely those that forget; like me. And the UK is around 54th on the European 4G network table; so where I live since EE went 4G, I get NO service. so, if the customer service from EE isn't that great and the network isn't that great and the rates aren't that great; I'm unlikely to buy a watch that's offering stuff I can't or won't use at a rate I'm not happy with paying.

So, where is the steel, sapphire screen wifi watch Apple? And how many sales are you losing by not doing one? I'd hazard a guess and say more than you'd like to admit.
