If iJustine isn't the most annoying YouTuber on the planet, I don't know who is. She gives blondes a bad name. Her phoniness is right up there with Pee Wee Herman! Just shoot me if I had to listen to her for more than a couple minutes.

MacRumors, keep her off this site. She brings down the quality.
[doublepost=1537471432][/doublepost]Don't know what planet you flew in from but she is about the worst ambassador for Apple that I can imagine. You must be her friend writing this for her because I asked five other people to watch it and they all shut it off because they couldn't stand the phoniness of the whole thing. And they were a mixed set of ages and gender. Maybe it plays well in L.A., but anywhere else, forget it!

iJustine: this video is the best apple product related video i have ever seen.
i am not saying this is the best product video, but the best apple product related video.

this video works on so many different levels at the same time.

she is obviously genuine.
she really does love apple's products.
and she loves how she can interact with those products, and the opportunities it provides for communication with her circle of friends and family.
its also clear that she values good design and how good design has positive impact on how we feel and react to our circumstances.

the video is great fun as well.
blending personal tidbits and other aspects of her life makes the video compelling to watch.

this product review video also provides info on many of the key features that apple is marketing.
ekg, greater display size area, bands, walkie-talkie, etc.

all of the above is about iJustine's reaction to and use of the apple Series 4 Gold watch.
it almost doesn't even matter that no where in the video does it mention if its the aluminum or the stainless steel model... which is annoying...

but the video (as all her videos) works as well on a deeper sociological level as well.
its very much about 2018 USAmerican-ism.
yoga, Starbucks, fitness challenges, etc.
her entire lifestyle that she allows us to see is so extremely 2018 USAmerican and that is one of the key reasons why i am willing to bet her videos are favorited so much by non-Americans.

lastly, whoever is doing her video editing and production is a real professional.
the music, the timing, it all is so well done.

I am the same. Last year I got pots, pans and a spatula for Christmas but did also get an iPhone X because they were delayed. And because I waffled about wanting one at all. I ended up returning it and getting my silver 8 Plus in January, though.

Up until a couple years ago, my husband and I celebrated our birthdays and wedding anniversary very modestly, if at all. We now time some of our Android purchases to roughly match those dates.

Mother’s Day is usually when I get a wearable or a band for one.

I was going to ask for the Apple Watch for Mother’s Day, to help spread out the expenses. But we found out his employer is willing to pay for his Apple Watch. So at the last possible minute he managed to snag the apparently last gold 40 mm Apple Watch preorder available for pickup at the same store where we are picking up his XS Max.

For Christmas, my husband says he would like to get me the gold Milanese band if I’m interested in it. I’m definitely interested but may ask for that to be put off for Mother’s Day. I kind of need a new backpack for my tech stuff. Mine is just a regular kids gym bag and I want one with real padding for laptops.

i enjoyed your post alot. thanks.

returning the X for the 8 Plus was totally a great idea.

and i have to admire a person who gets pots and pans and spatulas for christmas gifts.

postponing the watch until Mother's Day in order to be able to receive a pack to carry tech items: thats genuine purposefulness that i admire.

thanks for sharing your post.

Apple Watches don’t tend to become classics you hand down in your family tho.

They are not really comparable in any way. People shouldn't be comparing a mechanical timepiece with an internet-connected miniature computer just because one of the 10,000 applications the computer can run is a clock application.

The guy from Spain doesn't even have 200k subscribers and yet got an invitation to the event? He really must be be an Apple bootlicker.

Ok now I get it after watching a few of his videos on YT. He's like the gay version of ijustine. And calls her the "Mother of YouTube".

I think Apple pretty much invented the "unboxing experience" thing (or, at least introduced it to the consumer electronics field) by actually putting significant design effort into packaging. Its interesting to see, even if you don't intend to buy the product (I have no axe to grind against the Apple Watch, I just don't want/need one).

Exactly - the 1st gen "Edition" Watches that were sent out to various celebrities for the original launch may be worth serious dosh in the future (if they've been well stored + documented and Apple and/or the celeb in question are still famous) but anything else will likely be scrap value only in 5-10 years time, especially if it relies on dead web services or obsolete communication protocols. If its gold or something then the scrap value may be better than nothing - stainless steel or ceramic, not so much.

A high-quality mechanical watch isn't a practical purchase - its a piece of jewellery that also tells the time (if you just want the right time get a $20 digital) and (if chosen carefully - I'd want to Do The Research) could even be an investment or an heirloom. Personally, I don't want a piece of jewellery (even if it does tell the time) but I can understand the decision.

Spending $1500 or more on a wrist computer that will be obsolete long before the "cheap" $500 aluminium case version with the same functionality starts to tarnish is just the equivalent of using $100 bills as firelighters.

Spending other people’s money, eh?

Yeah. I can relate. I do the launch thing, but my husband knows it’s my big thing each year.

I am also eyeing that gold Milanese. If I like the gold watch, I may order myself one. My birthday is at the end of the month. ;)

Off topic but not really... iJustine is so annoying.
don't watch her videos? :)

Seriously, I'll never understand why (a) people post videos of them unboxing a product - well maybe I do as there's the 'look at me and what I've got'. Though (b) why other people then actually watch them doing it.

If I make a video of me unpacking my weekly groceries will all of you promise to watch?
That's literally what most of the forums are for one this site. Look at me and what I've got...

Those review videos have become in general so boring.
I don't know anymore why I should watch those anymore.
Was so dumb when I watched one review after another one.

LOL how funny to read people complaining about the price :) how about you pay 9-10k for a useless Rolex,Breitling etc to look at the time only ? If you compare to those prices and functuality I think Apple Watch is super cheap .You can do more with it.
What are you going to do with the Rolex besides looking st the time only ? :))

Yea why would anyone hang a useless piece of art on the wall when they could have a fancy HDTV instead?

Here's an unboxing video worth watching.

Silly question: does the walkie-talkie feature only work on the cellular models? That feature look great but don’t wanna shell out extra for the cellular version. If I had that, I’d just be making calls on the watch instead of using walkie-talkie.
I have a series 3 non cellular in the uk and I have the walkie talkie app its in watch os5. im glad its not a series 4 only feature

Here's an unboxing video worth watching.

:) - yes, that was well deserved in some ways, but it is also a good illustration of the difference between typical consumer goods packaging and Apple's* carefully planned 'unboxing experiences' - its partly funny because the ziplock bags, cable ties and styrofoam padding that the unboxer is orgasming over are so completely generic and mundane. Based on the packaging, the AcmeTron WKX1759/1-TC (or whatever) inside could have been any old consumer electronic black box unless you sat down and read the bullet lists. Compared with the Watch unboxing videos is like comparing opening a catering-size tub of chocolate-flavour topping with opening a high-end box of chocolates.

So, I counter your video with this one:

* I'm sure a high end regular watch will come in a nice presentation box, but Apple have been doing this with more mundane things like laptop computers since forever - back in the day, even if you bought a comparable-level product (e.g. a Sony Vaio) the packaging was more like the product shown in the spoof video. Post-iPhone, other manufacturers have been upping their game - the packaging on my £200 Huawei phone was rather nice.

Easy to please then?

You don't know the half of it! LOL!

I pretty much like most movies I see, a large majority of restaurants, LOTS AND LOTS of food, and most people I meet. I am not terribly discriminating. And when it comes to beautiful women (like iJustine), I've always been a sucker.

So, frankly, I don't get all the complaining about her. What, she's too cute and smiley? Is that the problem? I guess there are guys who prefer the "Debbie Downers". Hmm, that sounds like fun....

That video is freakin' HILARIOUS!!! OMG, I can't stop laughing! Of course, the Pee-Wee Herman music makes it even better...you just imagine the Keystone Cops at Microsoft running around like a bunch of fools trying to add more crap to the box design, under the direction of the Commissioner of Keystone Cops himself, Steve Ballmer. Work up a sweat and repeat after me: "Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers!...."

I would be more than happy for an enviromentally friendly grocery bag with some woodwool packaging around the product for safety. All this consumerism packing presentation is so pretentious and plays to peoples already over inflated egos.

The video posted by Gameboy70 typifies what I'm talking about - very good.

Unfortunately, the contents of your dolphin-friendly bag will still be non-biodegradable landfill in a year or two because it has been designed to be non-repairable/non upgradeable.

The packaging is mostly card and what plastic there is claims to be recyclable - c.f. all the styrofoam and poly bags you see elsewhere, and I suspect a lot of people hang on to it in case they want to sell on or hand down their iDevice. I'd be more worried about the ridiculous amounts of packaging used by everyday groceries than a bit of extra cardboard lavished on an expensive watch.

I'm all for great unboxing experiences, it's just unboxing videos that bore me to death. But that MS unboxing video is spot on brand!

Reaaaaally???. How about use it and keep it for ALL your life?. Gen 1 Watch is basically useless now. Well, it kind of works as a Rolex now: only gives the time!!!... Electronics vs mechanical, depdency of a smart phone or not. so, I guess you pay for a Rolex the brand recognition. In the end, if one cares about durability just go with a GShock. That is the most sensible watch purchase, considering only functionality, I mean... to each their own :)
Dude i wasn’t even talking about the build quality or durability etc :) you are missing the point lol i was talking about functuality ,i mean you can do more with the Apple Watch but with Rolex u can only find out the timing and date lol I prefer to upgrade every year so i can keep up with the technology .Technology is changing Rolex, breitling etc maybe was good in 80s,90s but now it’s a technology world .
Already have my Rolex watches (that's why your comment struck a chord) and plan to get an Apple Watch 4 next year. Just proving a point that one is an investment and one is a toy.
lol you don’t know anything about investment ,I have money and i can buy as many Rolex etc i wanna buy but that’s a waste of money ,and look on eBay and see who is right :) let’s say u pay 10k for a Rolex today u r a dreamer if I think u can sale that watch more then u pay after 10 years later ,and remember Rolex will release many models every year as well.
[doublepost=1539041792][/doublepost]
AW-Rolex comparisons are stupid. An AW is a product of a kind, with certain functionalities and goals that are specific. And so is a Rolex. They are two different products with two things in common: they stay on your wrist, and they tell you the time. Anything else is different.
[doublepost=1537459116][/doublepost]

It’s not their purpose, not the desire of any AW owner. You don’t buy an AW to hand it down to your family. You buy an AW to use the heck of it, every day, in any situation, for two/four years.
If you love Rolex then wtf u r doing in Apple Watch forum ?:)) go waste your money for a worthless watch that tells you the time only lol
