Just spent a few hours on the phone and through chat asking questions. Got a lot of mixed information. Most of it boils down to “it’s says it’ll be there Friday and that’s all we know.” Even spoke to a supervisor.

One agent was telling me there was some sort of glitch with some orders that they’re implementing a fix at 9pm PST to fix that doesn’t let them press some button to submit the order to be researched or something? So she thinks that’s it and is telling me my tracking number should pull up after 9pm PST. The supervisor told me there are no glitches and doesn’t know what she was talking about but that my order shows it’s ready for shipment and a tracking number will be provided later. He said he doesn’t care that I’ve ordered in the past years and never seen this, or that others online are getting tracking numbers. He said “Apple changes things sometimes.” He was very rude.

Overall, I got no real reassurance. Most people just kept saying “it’s being prepared for shipment, you’ll be emailed when it’s shipped. That is all.”


Woah, if you have a 9/20 delivery date you can expect it to be delivered.
 
Another data point: ordered a Space Black SS 44mm this morning, arrives 9/20 and Preparing to Ship at the moment. Nothing in UPS My Choice either, which did show my S4 last year ahead of time — though I ordered later this year.

That is remarkable. It fits the hypothesis that there is inventory of Space Black Stainless Steel watches in the States to fulfill preorders.
 
Very late to the game here. Just decided to get an Apple Watch as a motivation to get healthier.

Anyway, wondering if there is any chance of grabbing one launch day or am I better off ordering from Apple and having it delivered by 10/3-10/8?

Edit: wanting a cellular Space Grey Aluminum. Would like a Sport Loop, but not 100% on that.

Apple has historically had a good stock of aluminum watches in the Apple Stores on launch day. So either go visit a store or look online to order and go pickup.

Thanks, exactly what I was hoping to hear. Living in NYC means several convenient locations I can try Friday morning.

I didn't place an order until 2 days after the event. I had decided not to get one this year, even though I've gotten a new one every year since they were released. But of course I caved!

I have at 9-30 to 10-3 estimated delivery date for my AWS 5 Alum 44 sport band. It just went to preparing to ship and my card was charged. Ironically I was whining on the phone to a friend about having to wait for it, when the message came in about the charge. Woo hoo!

So it looks like they are beginning to prepare the second wave of deliveries.

I ordered a SBSS 44 yesterday with a 10/2-7 date but my card was just charged so it seems it will be moving soon.

I’m willing to bet everyone that doesn’t have tracking in My UPS yet will get it sometime Wednesday evening or night and they’ll show originating from Mt. Juliet TN.

I ordered SS gold 44" AW with a gold Milanese Loop for September 20th.

This would most likely be my choice, too (alternatively, the same in silver). Do we know yet whether the series 5 SS gold looks the same as the previous two gold versions, i.e. more on the bronze side?
 
I ordered the 40mm gold S5 al with gold SS Milanese loop the first day. My watch has gone from Suzhou, China to Shanghai, China to Anchorage, AK to Louisville, KY on 9/16. Apple says it will be delivered on launch day. It’s hanging out in KY until it moves toward me in Northern California. I have the S4 but I wanted Always On since I bought the Series 0. Can’t wait until Friday!

By the way, the charge on my credit card is still pending rather than posted. On the other hand, the shipment of my iPhone 11 Pro Max is progressing rapidly. As of the time of this post, it is on its way to Louisville.

I am on the same boat. At first, after the series 5 announcement, I thought I could wait until next year. However, as I always want to have “always on display” watch and how I always hate moving my wrist or tapping my series 4 gold ss to view the time or the display content, after two days of thinking, I decided it was time to have “always on display” Apple Watch with ceramic as I always want ceramic. I ordered on 9/12 and got 9/30-10/2 delivery date and accepted it as it was my fault not to order sooner. Got a nice surprise this morning that my card was charge and my order was being prepared to be shipped. I know exactly what you feel.

Nike Watches will not deliver until 10/4 because they are released two weeks after Apple releases the other versions. Not sure why but its been that easy for every Nike version. Your delivery window is not too off from the official Nike release. My feeling is you’ll get it a few days before your current delivery window.
 
My watch finally left Shanghai this morning, appears to be on the way to Alaska. Now I just need my phones to move.

Sooner or later, I hope to find the reason why pre-orders for the Space Black Stainless Steel variant are not getting UPS tracking numbers.

I need to have mine held for pickup, so this is maddening. Support has been incredibly unhelpful. They have a firm stance of “our system says Friday, so it’ll be there Friday. That is all.”
