Apple Watch Series 5 Pre-Order Thread (US)

This morning the status of my September 10th pre-order for a Series 5 Space Black Stainless Steel Apple Watch with matching Milanese Loop band did not change to "Shipped".

I tried to track the shipment via "Track by Reference Number" on the UPS website using the order number without the last two digits. However, the resulting tracking number is for an Apple delivery to Vermont. The supervisor with whom I spoke this morning was able to verify that said UPS tracking number is not linked to my full order number.

The "moral of this story" is that entering the order number minus the last two digits in "Track by Reference Number" on the UPS website is not a foolproof method of finding the tracking number for your pre-order.

Will my Apple Watch ship from a stateside warehouse in time for delivery tomorrow? The supervisor said that he did not have the means to find-out. But given the fact that my pre-order does not yet have a tracking number and that my the credit card still shows the charge to be pending, rather than posted, I strongly suspect that it will not.

My buddy in Vegas just had his show up and it’s shipping from California. There’s still a chance. It always seems like someone pulls some magic tricks and makes it happen.

If you sign up for the free UPS "my choice" any time a delivery is scheduled for your address it will immediately show up in your account. That is any time a shipper even generates a shipping label with your address on it. There is no need to try and game the system with order numbers.

How do I get this to work? My watch shipped and I can’t see it anywhere in “my choice.” Does it have something to do with the addresses needing to match exactly?
 
I ordered my 44mm Aluminum late Monday evening, and the one with the white sport loop was the only model, that showed Friday delivery still. I'm wondering if a bunch of these are already stateside, which is why the shipping is not showing as soon, as the phones, that have to be shipped from China. Mine is still showing Preparing for Shipping, but no tracking yet.

Yes. A lot are already stateside and shipping from Apple’s usual origins (like Mount Juliet, TN).

Yes, the address you use to sign up and the ship to address need to match. Names don't. Like I get all the stuff that my wife orders from Target on mine all the time.

hang in there. They are processing bulk shipments at the clearing house in China right now. I'm guessing they just haven't gotten to the one containing your order yet.

You will. This is my third Hermès Apple Watch and the quality of bands surpasses any other. They are the most comfortable to wear. And the faces exclusive to the Hermès are really beautiful.
 
After all the worry of not getting any tracking for my watch, it has now departed Louisville before my phone, which I have been tracking since Tuesday. Apple and UPS always get it done!
 
My watch "shipped" today, however has been in my choice on UPS for days... Somehow though the tracking still only says "Shipment ready for UPS" and still has absolutely no scans. Apple and UPS still show delivery date for tomorrow though...

Nike watches ship two weeks after the new Apple Watch releases. This year the release date is 10/4. My wife is patiently waiting for its arrival.

Watch and phone arrived at the UPS center 15 minutes from me!! Gahhhhh I wish I could get them now!
 
Would I be crazy for trading in my aluminum AW4 for a titanium AW5? I’m sorely tempted and have the money, but I know I don’t “need” it... Other than the always-on face and the cellular (my AW4 is not LTE version), would there be any benefit?

Edit: Oof November delivery though... think it would come sooner?

My SS SB S5 still shows processing. Guess the 9/27 date is accurate. Oh well at least I’ll have my Pro Max 512 MG tomorrow to play with until then. Can’t wait to see that color in person. I am super pumped for the stainless steel S5 as it’s my first stainless steel. Always had aluminum.
 
I’m late to the flight-tracking party, but about how long do packages sit in customs? My watch has shown “Clearance in process” all day on UPS. Arrival scan earlier today in Shanghai (yesterday, shanghai time?) but still no departure scan. Are scans delayed or is the package just chillin?
 
Well. I ordered a 4 but first I put in the wrong city for shipping and then I had to reorder and it went on back order so I had to cancel and will be ordering a 5. Maybe. But I have to wait a few days. I plan to order the 40 mm aluminum sport band in space gray. Hope the order goes better this time. If I don’t change my mind. Not a great first foray into the Apple Watch universe. Enjoy!
 
Just got tracking. Space Black Titanium with black leather loop. Ordered on the 12th, estimate of 9/30-10/4, UPS shows scheduled delivery for Wednesday 9/25. No complaints here!
