I have an S4 and there is nothing here to make me want to change it out. None of this forced upgrade is good I guess ;)

I do not understand why many are so not happy, the watch is getting closer to ideal. There is simply no need to change anything in the design here. I would like, of course, a more powerful battery, but I understand that it is not easy and it takes many years of development for everything to work.

I’ll be getting a blue Series 7 the first chance I get. I didn’t get the 6 last year because the color was the only change I could justify but this one comes with a bigger, better screen, and the functional keyboard plus the new sensors included with the 6 so that’s more than enough to drop my 5 and make the jump.

Dang these comments are salty!

And rightfully so imho and I give Apple the benefit of the doubt a lot of the time. The watch is something different to everyone. For me, it is about health (including exercise and sleep). I thought I had read a story saying the Blood O2 sensor was updated, it turns out it is NOT updated. It is hard to get working for me when I do exactly what I am suppose to do. That's fine. The lack of real health benefits for this watch means I don't upgrade.

Apple also needs to up the battery life. When my watch face is down, I don't want a brighter face because I am not looking at it. This year is a let down for the watch.

or I'll say f*** it and go with Garmin Fenix.
I have an AWS5 but I'm considering getting a Garmin Fenix 6x Pro and Garmin 7 (when announced). I would love a rugged or a more masculine version of the AW with better battery life.

I have an AWS5 and I'm considering buying a Garmin Fenix. I would love for Apple to build a more rugged/masculine APW with great battery life. Because of this incremental upgrade, I can now go the Garmin route for a year. There's obvious pros and cons with both, especially when it comes to Garmin not being of the "Walled Garden" and not being as smart. The aesthetics of the APW is finally bothering me. Give us an option. Maybe APW Sport.

I have the fenix 6x pro and its a great watch! There are limitations with notifications and being able to respond to email and text messages etc. Its a great watch! I have had the apples watches before the fenix and I may buy the the Apple 7 watch because of the larger Bezel/Screen/Viewing size. Which is a reason to upgrade for some who like myself like a bigger size face/bezel. You are getting more for your money, and many feel the same way about the larger Iphone as well? I am fine with the squarish design but would like to see a round bezel watch? Bezel size does matter on a watch, just like a phone. It is very surprising what a 1-2mm increase does when viewing a watch face.

Sounds like you're the perfect candidate to update to the 7 to be honest. I've got the 3 as well and had it around the same time as you. I see this as a great upgrade now. At first I was disappointed, but the more I see about this watch, the more impressed I am. Blood sugar sensor would have been nice, but apart from that, it's pretty solid. Bigger watch face in basically same size body is impressive.

I now believe those leaks were deliberate by Apple and this was the design all along.
Solid device that I think someone without a watch should consider. Messages, phone calls, activity tracking, weather, maps, remote for music and TV... its all very convenient.

The only compelling updates from the S3 that I see is the larger screen (My wife recently got the smaller SE, and screen is bigger than my larger S3) and faster charge time. All of the other limitations outside of still to mature health sensors still exist. -About the same battery life. Same frustrations having to manually open apps to update complications, and reading individual messages on the phone and watch all I assume to conserve battery use. Its a device still in need of a better battery to take that convenience to the next level.

Might be worth it from my 5 to the 7 but not from 6
It might be worth it for those, who really like a larger bezel/screen size on a watch. Again 1-2mm increase in a watch makes a big difference in viewing real estate.

I currently have a Watch 3 which works perfectly for the main things I use it for (activity tracker, apple pay in physical shops, alarms etc…).

It would be a noce upgrade from 3 to 7, but I really wanted to test it with Fitness+ before upgrading but it’s not available in Italy yet.

I could wait the end of the year, sure…but knowing that 9 months later the Watch 8 will be presented, makes me less and less motivated to upgrade and rather wait for Watch 8.

I don't mind the look, but I would love rugged and more battery life.

The only major difference between the two is the screen size. Everything else is the same with the exception of minor cosmetic changes (colours), slight technical changes (faster charging) or non-changes (new label stuck on the same chip). Really I'm not sure why Apple bothered as I don't see series 6 owners as a prospective market.
