Just because you see no reason doesn't mean there aren't reasons for others to engage. Telling others there is no reason for them to act is rather illogical and presumptive, in my opinion.
Or... bear with me... every person has an opinion and that's just that. ... an opinion.

Also you're reading far too much into it. (but what's new in MacRumors forums lol?) I'm just trying to help people out.

...speaking as someone who bought an S3 only to have the SE (which I would've vastly preferred) come out a few months later. As I said, just trying to help people not make a mistake.

18 hours is grossly pathetic. form over function with the AW as usual. and that's just 18 hours of it acting as a wrist watch. go for a long run or even a 5 hour bike ride with the family on a weekend and it's nearly dead. and wear it all day only to have to charge it just to put it on to track your sleep. nonsense. anyone who wants a watch that can track your GPS activities, track your sleep, monitor your heart...everything except make a call (which - we're not dick tracey, it's a poorly executed feature anyway) can be done with a cheaper Garmin or Suunto or Coros or plenty of other options that will last days if not weeks even with gps tracking of your activities.

it's a lifestyle watch pretending to be a fitness watch and doesn't pass the first basic test - last longer than a day.

It's barely an S upgrade, the 6 was barely an upgrade over the 5. Here's hoping the 8 actually offers upgrade worthy changes.

Telling people you don't know what to do isn't really helping them, in my opinion. I think the better response would be to remind people that they have (in the U.S.) a 14 day no questions asked return policy. If someone is curious about the new watch, do some research and then make a purchase. A person should be able to make an informed decision after 10 - 12 days of daily use, in my opinion.

Is there a thickness specification listed anywhere? I am unable to find it. Looking to compare to S5/S6 if the S7 is any thicker.

I own a 4 with a loop band.
Will the old bands work on the new watch?
I know it's a minor quibble...but I spent $100 on the band..

Does that header picture not drive anyone else crazy? That band hasn't been sold in a few years now, and certainly won't be sold with the Series 7. Solo Loop FTW.

Nothing ever indicated Apple was changing the band port. That’s a massive monopoly for them and changing the Port at this point in the game, would only do them a disservice. Now, they’re definitely capable of change, but I only really see that happening if they offer like a ‘circular design’ in the future, that might have a separate band design.

Is Apple creating Apple Watch trade in programs? I have a Series 4 that would like to trade in.

I’m torn. I have a black titanium S6 and I have wanted to add an SS gold finish to my one-watch collection for a while. One obvious next step would be to buy a gold S7 but I’m so disappointed with the derisory (in my opinion) upgrade from S6 to S7 that I’m very tempted to leave it another year before I add a gold finish to my collection. For iPhone and often iPad I tend to be an I-want-it-on-release-day customer but not this time. I might yet get a gold SS S7 but I’ll not be part of the “transaction did not complete” madness on pre-order day this year, I’ll wait until I can see it in a relaxed manner in an Apple store, and I might yet skip this generation entirely.

Two things:

1.) The problem with any Apple Watch color you might want, it might not be offered for ‘next year‘s’ model, and Apple changes colors quite frequently and then removes them. However, unless you’re interested in buying an older model with the gold stainless, then that would be your option.

2.) I don’t see the Apple Watch series 7 completely being back ordered to the point where you can’t get one for weeks. It really depends on which model that you want, with the more expensive models typically are easier to order because of the price point that’s higher that most consumers probably won’t spend money on.

Unless I am mistaken, there is not a single new health feature for the S7. As gimmicky as blood oxygen was last year, at least it was something. This update basically feels like smaller bezels + faster charge time + some slight durability updates.

That coupled with dropping silver for a gross silver-gold hybrid means I'll still with my S6 for another year. I have absolutely no reason to upgrade and smaller bezels isn't that intriguing to me.

I agree with you but the color choices for the SS Apple Watch are very similar from a year to another. I would be very surprised if Apple discontinued the gold AW

Could be an expensive year next year then with a iPhone 14 and watch 8 for me. I wonder if the move to 3nm will mean a much better chip?
