To those who comment on whether they should upgrade or not... remember that a new Apple Watch isn't only for existing users.

There are still TONS of people who don't have any Apple Watch at all.

At last count there were around 1 billion iPhones out in the world... but only 100 million Apple Watches. There will still be a lot of newcomers to the Apple Watch.

:)

I am going to wait for the blood glucose model. The 6 I have work fine as is, so unless it stops working, I am going to wait. It tells time, does the heart . unless it has a function to make me coffee and a sandwich, going to wait.

Don't know about the actual advantage of a smaller chip. Anyway excited to see green or any other new colour that will be available.

I still use my S0 daily - I can still get a full day's use out of it on a full charge (although I generally keep it in Theatre Mode) and it's as fast as it ever was... which isn't very fast. The integration between iOS 14 and WatchOS 4 isn't very good - notifications missing, failure to answer phone calls on the watch, etc. but hey, it still tells the time.

Maybe it's time to upgrade.

Same here, still on s0. Although i can still answer calls and receive all of my notifications.

I was hoping for a design change for the 6 but that did not come. Hoping the 7 will have a design change.

Smaller chip = bigger battery?? (I hope!)

I'm on a v6, so I probably wont upgrade unless something is pretty special about it.

Best Buy tends to run sales on the prior gen watch a few months after the new one is released. I got my stainless S5 about 4 months after the S6 was released for $300 off MSRP.
I actually got my Series 3 as an open box clearance return from Best Buy not long after launch. It still had the plastic on it and was eligible for Apple Care, so I think it was literally opened once and then returned.

My guess is that battery size is mainly unchanged, Apple has been sticking to 18hrs from the get go and they are not going to double that.
I would hope for new sensors but we will have to wait

I just hope they finally change the design. Love my watch for it's features, but hate the design. Really want thinner and most of all round!

New sensors would be great, I agree, but I really think more battery would be good too, especially for those that want the sleep tracking. I really just want it so I could wear it for a couple days without recharging.

If the S7 is truly smaller, Apple will definitely not put in a larger battery; they'll instead use this opportunity to make the watch thinner (as they are wont to with everything else) and give us no improvement in what they surely see as already good-enough battery life.
I believe another earlier report said the watch will be slightly thicker but on the order of 1mm or so give or take. But this is the one apple device that I personally want to get thinner. It’s very chunky and catches on things frequently.

hate to be that guy, but if an apple watch 7 is the first of it's generation, then it's probably a bad idea to buy this watch at launch. at least wait 3 months or wait for it's first sale to buy it

that would actually makes sense ... guess we'll have to see what happens

The Apple Watch is actually the one device I want them to make thinner. They've all been around 11mm since the first generation. I feel like a skinny version would be subtler on the wrist, in addition to getting caught on clothing less.
