Educated guess: the stock ready to ship on Oct 15 will be super limited or non-existent. Delivery times will be many weeks or even multiple months for most models from the beginning.
So Apple sees no benefit in offering more details like specs, models, configurator etc. before preorders start. No need to build a hype. There will either way be more people wanting to preorder on the 8th than they can serve over coming weeks no matter what.
I wonder if they’re going to be selling models pre-packaged with bands again, which is why they haven’t updated the Studio.

That’s what I’m wondering too. If so I hope they at least let us favorite the pre-packaged models before Friday to make preordering go smoothly.

I think the soft release is because they know there will be heavy demand against the limited supply. I think that new display will be much neater in person than we think.

The pessimist in me suspects that the lack of pricing info (beyond the base model) is an indication that all of the other models are going to increase in price. Could be that manufacturing costs went up, but they don’t want to raise the base model price, for fear of scaring buyers away altogether, so they’re waiting as long as possible to reveal the price of the other models in order to minimize/postpone the inevitable bad press. Hope I’m wrong.
I thought the same. I generally buy in March when the deals start to get interesting. I'm a happy AW3 + cellular wearer, and considering it's still being offered by Apple, I'm not in any rush to replace it. That said if something were to happen to it I would replace it with a 7, but no plans to order anytime soon.

Let me the the fist to say it, EXCITED!!!
Are we sure it does not have a built in thermometer?
Wrist thermometers are unreliable, to say the least. They pick up body temp and therefore are not very good at telling you the temperature around you unless you take them off and let them sit for a while.

I’m not too happy with Starlight replacing Silver in the aluminum  Watch.
Looking to upgrade from a Series 4 but thinking Starlight will not look good if I like Silver. It’s almost like  is pushing me to go to stainless steel. Besides being cheap, I run and SS is heavier than aluminum.
Not sure if I take a chance on starlight and return if I don’t like the color or just go with SS to get silver. Can I even return if I don’t like the color?
Ordering both and returning one seems like a dick move, right?

Got a 45mm Hermes with the Noir deployment buckle (a strap I'd wanted for a while), delivery 19-21 October, happy with that!
