It basically never makes sense to upgrade from the immediately previous model of, well, basically anything. Maybe it makes sense when there’s a really major change in the platform, like going from Intel to Apple Silicon. Otherwise it’s mostly just a wasteful exercise. Would you replace your car every year? (And if in the tiny fraction to answer yes to that, the next question is, would you expect everyone else to do the same?)Skipping that one and waiting for one with additional health features. Does not make much sense to upgrade from my Series 6
That sounds exhausting tbh. You have to hold your arm at a weird angle to keep your face in the shot and hold it for the duration of the call with no option to set it down on a a table. But each to their own.Would love for the watch to one day add a front camera for video calls
Exactly this. I wouldn’t even be upgrading except my battery is degrading and a replacement battery costs almost as much as trading my current one in and buying a new one.It basically never makes sense to upgrade from the immediately previous model of, well, basically anything. I’m not trying to pick on you in particular, but there’s always a few comments along this line (“not a worthwhile upgrade from last year’s model”) for every new Apple release, and they always sound to my ear like, “water is wet”.
This will be my first Apple Watch and I wouldn’t mind a discount.Ouch! This Watch is going to get discounted fast.
For me, I walk the dogs two or three times a day for about 30 minutes per, plus my workout (spinning so no GPS use, but constant heart rate monitoring) which varies from 30 minutes to 75 minutes daily. I don’t have a set schedule for charging the Watch, but try to let it drop down below 20% before charging, so sometimes that’s in the morning, or often it’s mid-day. Fast charging would be helpful for those of us who are wearing the Watch constantly. I’m going to continue to use my 5, at least until next year to see if Apple makes a more significant change to the form factor or performance of the series 8.What sort of use do you do out of interest? I’ve got a 6 and have always on display, I typically do at least a hour walking work out a day , then usually another work out later on but inside so not using GPS but I find I end the day at around 50% although worry this may drop off quickly.
Last night for the first time actually I wore it for sleep tracking - had around 30% when I woke up I put on charge for a hour and it’s been ok, think I’ll need to get use to a new schedule of when to charge when my S7 arrives although the fast charging will help.
That is fine and that was to reason that I went to the Apple watch in the first place. I was on a fitbit and they kept falling apart. Before that I had a Jabra "UP" and that was not reliable.Multi day battery life. For the life of me I don't understand a full blown app store and so many apps for a device that is very limited in interfacing ability. They should introduce a variant of the watch that is completely for activity and health, and with multi-day battery life. Those are the only ones I use on mine.
As a ford salesman, I could tell you MANY reasons the 2021 blows away the 2020. Starting with the 12 inch screen and adding wireless CarPlay… performance… it’s a huge upgrade honestly. However just like with vehicles, the average user upgrades/trades on a 24/36 month cycle (think of lease terms). That’s what we should be comparing things to.
Well, Ram’s stay trash. However, even in automobiles of any sort, year over year updates/upgrades are typically pretty great. Kinda relative to the price tho. What people consider “worth the extra money”, others don’t. Can’t deny advancements simply because a personal opinion that it’s not worth it year over year. That’s what I was getting at. Not semantics, but preference. Safety, performance and technology have rapidly and continually been enhanced greatly year over year for the past decade.Alright, I'll say 2021 RAM 1500 versus 2020. Didn't meant to get semantic. I was picking a random car out of the lot.
"Insert car here" that is not a new generation then?
I dunno, they haven't allowed Qi charging yet. I am saying they should.Which universal chargers do well with the sensor hump on the bottom of the watch?
We can call it “NostrilTime.” It’ll be great for those short video calls before our arm gets tired and we have to put it down.Would love for the watch to one day add a front camera for video calls
