Still can't replace pro equipment, let the kids play with those features..

Why comment if its going be so ignorant?

No one is saying this is going to replace anything. What this does do, is make it feasible for a LOT more people to monitor their Glucose and potentially helping them achieve better health.

This is also HUGE for diabetics patients who might not be able to have the more 'pro' continuous monitoring devices. Now they do in terms of a watch and can still use other devices to confirm if there is a spike in their Glucose.

Ok What i really want is a front facing Camera on the Apple Watch. I mean isnt it time we should be able to have facetime calls on the watch?
No.

Do people remember the Samsung watch with a camera?

The ergonomic are atrocious, go ahead and hold you arm out in front of you for 5 minutes as if you’re checking the time.

This would be very cool if they can pull this off. I'm all for them adding more sensors. I'd like to see them add a skin temperature sensor as well someday.

It would also be cool if they could figure out how to take blood pressure readings without a cuff as well.

As an aside I'm thinking about getting an Apple watch within the next 1-2 years. How does sleep tracking on the Apple Watch compare to Fitbit? I've found the sleep tracking on my Fitbit to be really good and I don't want to lose those metrics.

As a type 1 diabetic, this could be a game changer. I currently use a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (which connects to my iPhone and Apple Watch). If this can be proven to be as accurate (or more) than a Dexcom, I will buy an Apple Watch Series 7 on day one. Also it needs to have high, low, and urgent low alerts to compete with the Dexcom.

Samsung watch already sucked it cant be salvaged with a camera, Apple Watch is great they got the software right, we can already do calls. Whats wrong in video facetime?

I love the people that crap on technology they haven’t even seen yet. You’d be the person saying “it’s ridiculous to think that thing can fly” when the first plane took off. Wait and see what they have before deciding it can’t possibly work. We are talking about a lot of very smart people and a lot of funding in R&D here.
Wait: you love those people?! 😧

Nah, JK! 😄 I get what you mean.

I hope this works, my wife it Type 1, and even the "medical grade" insertable/under skin sensors give wrong readings on a regular basis. Tho I don't have a lot of hope that over-the-skin can possibly be more accurate or more reliable.
Same, my wife also have Type 1 and she is constantly monitoring with her pump, bolis, and another sensor that connects through bluetooth. If they can pull this off, her life gets much easier.

Sounds great but if it’s anything like the inaccurate readings i get from the Blood Oxygen i don’t really see the point?

If it is proven accurate I wonder if insurance would cover? For a type 2 diabetic, there is a bit more tolerance for the readings. I would be in line to upgrade from my S3. As of yet, not had a reason to.

I wonder if this will simply be a possible "early stage" indicator of low blood sugar levels that send you to a Dr for a thorough check. Maybe over time it could become more extensive but initially would be a big first step for people who do not get checked at all until it becomes a more serious issue.

Just to give me an idea of what is happening over night I will buy this. If I can cut back somewhat on strips too it will pay for itself.
