And if they are retooling the hardware design, how about a tougher screen? I’m super careful with my tech. But every Watch I’ve owned ends up with a pretty decent scratch across the face - typically within the first couple of months. I’d likely be in on a more rugged model that has been lightly rumored for a couple of years.
You just need to get the stainless steel model. Everybody I know who got the aluminum watch with the Ion-X glass got a ton of scratches within months. I’ve had the SS models with the sapphire glass since the first gen model, and none have ever scratched.

How’s the body when it comes to scratches?

Rather than continuing to add sensor after sensor, I'd much rather Apple work on improving the interpretation of the data that the Watch already collects. For me, that includes getting more of the current data (more HR readings and more HRV readings) and then helping to add context to the data so that its actionable.

You can add all the sensors in the world and all the data, but if the data isn't correct, is too small of a sample, and/or isn't put into context, it's not that helpful. That's the next big step for wearables in general, I think. Context and interpretation.

Yes. And Garmin’s already doing that with their Morning Report that analyzes all the data and informs you of your training readiness for the day.

However, I think Garmin sometimes provides too much data, well at least for me. Maybe they’re just flexing or competitors showing they have the most stats and metrics. But as you say, make it relevant and contextual to the average user. It will come down to the accuracy of algorithms to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do today.

It’s definitely a compromise — the stainless steel will scratch and it’s a lot heavier. But I’d rather have scratches in the metal that can be buffed out over the screen glass, which would have to be replaced.

Next upgrade, I’ll probably go titanium or ceramic, whichever is offered.

Instead of having all these sensors why not work on longer battery life
My guess is that Apple considers that the Apple Watch has enough battery life to last through a day of typical use. Any extra (even if they are derived from a more efficient processor) will simply be used to power additional sensors and features. Alternatively, I suppose users can always turn off the AoD if they desire longer battery life.

Don't speak - or allow yourself to be spoken to. At least sometimes, measure on alternate arms. Make sure the cuff is right size for your arms.
i think that there was something wrong with that wrist device. It had given more reasonable processes in the past. The point was that measuring BP is a complicate process if you want the data to be accurate enough to be useful.

The poor battery life of the Apple Watch is a huge drawback. The best I got out of the AW7 was 26 hours and that is completely unacceptable as I travel for work and leisure, as it may be nearly 30 hours to get to my final destination. I can easily charge my iPhone on a plane or train, but a pain to charge the AW.
Do you turn on “theater mode” when sleeping? I find that helps otherwise my watch triggers the screen frequently as I move around. Others have suggested turn off the always on display if you are traveling like that. It is a nice feature but a simple tap or raise to turn on the display is a minor effort.

Personally I get about 30 hours out of my S7 watch. i do use “theater mode” at night. Otherwise different usage patterns probably account for the difference.

Yes, let's fight for less health options.
Seriously arguing against a silly thing as fever sensor?

While everyone has had or had onset of a fever and NOT known themselves? Heck even a toddler knows the prende are the ones guessing.

I’d rather have blood pressure or blood sugar sensor than a fever sensor which is temperature lol. I’m quite certain the majority in this thread or Apple Watch owners globally would also.

It’s not silly just because you don’t see a use for it. I want a blood sugar sensor as well. I don’t think blood pressure is possible with a watch. This would be useful to prevent heat stroke. Most people don’t realize their body temperature is rising in the heat outside until it’s too late. This would be extremely helpful in this case. Not just for fevers. I’ve had a heat stroke before and had no clue my body temp was rising until I was in the hospital. And I was staying hydrated. This would have let me know before things got bad.

Nope it’s the focus of whose in charge of the Watch division since version 2. Not Cook.
Is Cook suddenly not the CEO? Do the people that work for him do things in secret that he doesn’t know about and doesn’t approve of? Do you think Apple is just made up of different departments all keeping secrets from each other and all these secrets just come out together during Apple events?

If accurate, I suspect I will be replacing the battery in my Series 5 later this year.

Besides the new body temperature sensor, the ‌Apple Watch Series 8‌ is expected to maintain the same design as the Apple Watch Series 7, including the same processor as the Series 6 and 7.

Wow, that’s disappointing. What happened to the new flatter design that was being touted last year and thought to be coming for the Series 8?

And same processor again?! Apple seems to be hitting a wall lately with their chip designs.

Why would the 8 have the same processor as the 6 and the 7 watch? I currently have the 5 and been holding off for a while to upgrade.
