So let me break it down for you from my point of view:
I'll contend my dislike for the Apple watch doesn't come from insecurity, but because I feel it epitomizes the wrong directions Apple has taken over the past few years. The Apple I used to know and love is now more about fashion and looks than actual functionality. And that makes me mad. It's been making me mad for a couple years now. You guys seem to adore that new Apple, so that makes me mad at you.

True that the AW is Apple's first attempt as a luxury fashion retailer, but watches are considered jewelry and a fashion statement so that's a given.

However, Apple has always been form over function, even the Apple you used to know and love. Interesting that you're not mad about that.

It's subjective, but I'll disagree. While yes they were always about form, that was always balanced nicely with a focus on function as well.
The old mac pro's and powerbooks and MacBook pro's of the past were gorgeous, but also elegant examples of how to incorporate power and upgradeability into that design.
It's my opinion (and there's many these days who agree), that Apple's focus has gotten out of whack and it's way more about form over function that ever before.

Why is the AW any different in this respect then? Just as iPad is far better at some key tasks than iPhone, the AW is far better at some key tasks than iPhone. You have no problems with the iPhone, right? The AW is merely an extension of it, circumventing having to check the iPhone constantly. Did you want them to make the AW as bland and fashionless as possible?

Come'on, you can't possibly disagree this is an Apple product way more about fashion than anything else they've created (way more than the ipad, or iphone). They specifically launched it, unlike any Apple product before, in fashion magazines and with fashion models promoting it. The irony is, (and this is where I start viewing the AW as stupid) all the dang watches look exactly the same ... so where's the fashion statement in that? But wait, you say, your band is brown leather, while mine is white leather with little red stitching on it ... ooooh what an incredible fashion statement!

Anna Kendrick nailed it when she called the Edition "the gold standard in douchebag detection". Where does that leave the lower priced models? Well naturally those are the bronze, silver and copper standards of douchebag detection.

You must have missed the memo that watches in general are considered a fashion statement. Did you realistically expect Apple not to advertise the Apple Watch as a fashion statement?

Why do you bother to reply on an Apple Watch post?
[doublepost=1465467707][/doublepost]

actually the premise of this thread wasn't to "reassure that I'm a dork" dude I know that. I get you're trolling-sure showed me and you're probably late for your high school chemistry class that you're most likely failing. Enjoy summer school.

LOL at Enjoy summer school.

Good stuff.

So let me break it down for you from my point of view:

The Apple I used to know and love is now more about fashion and looks than actual functionality. And that makes me mad. It's been making me mad for a couple years now. You guys seem to adore that new Apple, so that makes me mad at you.

I have never owned any Apple devices besides the iPhone (starting with the 3G), iPad and Apple Watch. Although I have used Macs here and there since the early 90's, I've been mostly a Windows user. As an outsider I can tell you that, while my opinion of Apple is more balanced, many other outsiders have ALWAYS thought Apple was more about fashion than functionality! Personally my opinion of Apple has been that they marry form and function better than most (if not all) technology manufacturers out there, which is why their designs are so widely copied. I have considered switching to an Android phone many times in the past, but even with the latest Android options I still find iOS to be a better experience. When I upgraded to the iPhone 6, I stayed with Apple because I knew the Apple Watch would be better than the Android smartwatch options out there.

You could say that the Watch is different because it's jewelry. I see it as a natural progression for Apple. The Apple Watch solves a problem that has annoyed many of us iPhone / smartphone users... it allows us to interact with the apps on our phone without the need to actually get the phone out dozens of times a day. Personally I am glad that the Apple Watch is available in various materials, finishes and allow for an infinite number of watch band options. It's a watch, so why not? I haven't worn a watch in years and I think the Apple Watch is one of the best tech gadgets I've purchased in my 20+ years of owning a lot of different tech gadgets. I also like the way it looks, which is important since it's in a visible location. I'd hate to be stuck with a single plastic band like you get with most sports watches or early smartwatches.

You can't get mad at Apple for wanting to stay competitive in the mobile world. They knew Android users would continue to have more and better options for smartwatches. It may not be a big market now, but it's rapidly heating up. The Apple Watch is currently the watch to beat, so even if you have no interest in owning one you should at least appreciate that it's the best of its class.

Why bother posting? Again, it's a question you really could ask of anyone on here. We're at work, we have a few minutes of down time, check in on macrumors and see something we feel like commenting about. That's pretty much what any of us do. We're all kind of wasting our time reading these threads and posting our two cents, but we enjoy it, so that's all that matters.

Actually many of us come here because we are interested in getting more out of our Apple Watches. We want to know what apps others are using, what third party bands they like, or what useful features there might be that we haven't discovered yet. Sure it's often just for fun, but it can also be quite informative... especially for a new Watch owner. And yes we also discuss the things that aren't working well because someone might have a good solution or workaround. Just like any technology forum.

I enjoy this site, and yes, I suppose I do kind of get a kick of out razzing you Apple watch owners a bit. So, thank you for the amusement ;)

Were you bullied a lot as a child? ;)

How is you voicing your like for something any less of a waste of time than me voicing my dislike for something?
[doublepost=1465488384][/doublepost]

Just couldn't help myself. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

We like something and so we decide to discuss it. That's how forums come about. Here, we're talking about how often we're now seeing the apple watch.

People voice their dislike here all the time. The difference between that and what you're doing here is you're voicing your dislike about the actual subject of the forum. You're voicing your dislike to a bunch of people who obviously like something.

Why? Do you think you're the first to ever express that opinion? Do you think we might start thinking it's dorky too, if you say something? Do you think we care?

It's odd to go out of your way to say something like that. Seems like something a kid might do.

On topic:

I was at a store with my mother last night. Pointed out that the guy passing us, as we were leaving, had the same SS/Milanese combo that I bought her.

thats incredible! you must have been so proud!

And by the way, I'll freely admit my razzing of you folks here is infantile, but isn't it also infantile to be proud that someone else bought the same consumer product as you? That was my point all along, the whole premise of this thread is shallow and infantile. So just deal with the fact I was just giving ya'll a taste of your own medicine. ;)

No, were you raped as a child? I dont see how either question has anything to do with this discussion.

Wow. That escalated quickly.

No wait, I think I get it: You're saying if I think the apple watch is stupid that could only be the result of a traumatic emotionally scarring episode in my life. Yea right, me and the other 50 million people who think the apple watch is lame.

Actually I was commenting on the joy you derive from putting down others for the choices they make that you do not agree with, but I think you know that. People who enjoy bullying others tend to have been bullied themselves. At least that's one basic theory behind bullying. The counter argument is that are bullies who are the way they are because they were raised as privileged alphas who have no empathy for those who were not born as fortunate. I think the lack of empathy is key, because it's that same lack of empathy that explains why people think that if something isn't right for them it must not be right for anyone... unless there is something wrong with those people. There is a certain inability, or lack of will, to understand the other point of view.

How many of those 50 million (or whatever the actual number may be) actually take the time to "raz" people who do like the watch? See what I'm getting at? This is abnormal behavior, but it certainly isn't unusual. It's just that those of us who do not understand what you are getting out of this discussion wonder about the psychology behind why you do what you do. It's not like you're doing anything new. Internet trolls have been around since the days of the newsgroups, and by now you'd think I would have learned to stop feeding them. :p

Wrong, because, I know it's shocking, but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Apple hasn't released sales numbers for the watch, so people are left to imagine how well it's doing. Many are seeing them somewhat often, so that may be a good thing. It's actually a recurring discussion around here, but that's something someone who does certain odd things, like come to a forum about something, just to tell everyone there how much they don't like that thing, wouldn't know.

Astute observation. And I'm sure it's got nothing to do with it being the first wearable item they've created...

how quickly the 'victims' of apple watch bullies become the bullies themselves. Talk about insecurity!

You hide behind that attempt at smart sounding psycho babble but you and I both know youre talking out of your a--- and it's just an attempt to bully me. Lame dude. Try another tact
