I paid £289 for my 42mm Space Grey Sport, it was £50 off at Currys PC World. I couldn't justify paying over £300 for a smart watch so that is why I got the Sport model. If the Stainless Steel model was that price I would of got that obviously.

I'll have to wait and see, in fact, I'll have to wait and see if I feel its worth the $$ to buy another apple watch.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not cooling to the apple watch but I don't see spending more $$ on a next gen apple watch. I'm happy with what I have, but it is a luxury item and I don't think I want to upgrade if I don't have too.

As for SS vs. Sport, as I mentioned I'll wait and see. The logic behind my purchase decision of the sport, was that I get the same watch as the SS, minus the sapphire crystal and stainless steal body. I'd rather have the 250+ money in my pocket then buy a SS watch.

Can't see myself paying anything extra next time. First, this is a device that is going to advance rapidly for many years to come. I doubt I will keep a given model for more than a year or two. Second, no matter how Apple dresses these up, they are still a computer screen attached to your wrist. Third, I have a strong dislike for polished stainless/chrome in almost any setting. Give me a matte finish any day.

I think the SS Apple Watch looks amazing. I was honestly shocked when I first saw it in person. I'd love to have one.

That said, I do not think that a stainless steel body and sapphire crystal warrants a ~$200 price increase. I just can't do it. I think that the AW is overpriced to begin with, "Apple Premium" or not. It's about a personal sense of worth and I just cannot justify $600+ for the Watch, not yet. I haven't been THAT impressed by it.

I like the no-nonsense look and so I adore my Sport model with a white band. It's practical and comfortable for teaching and working in my studio.

And also, to me the Watch is a tool, and so I like the somewhat unconventional look of the Sport.

I have no interest in jewelry and that includes watches. Although I'm still partial to one of the Fossil watches I had back in the day which is a sundial.

i will. really only because the SS is more versatile with bands. however, i might stick with my SG for one or two gens.

Sticking with the sport. I could afford to go SS no problem, but I will be upgrading every cycle, so it is a waste of money to me. Plus I keep mine in a metal Lunatic case most of the time anyway.

Gone the other way.

Initially bought a Stainless Steel. Loved it. Then the oleo-phobic coating turned to crap, with it "supposed to look like that" being the excuse I was offered in the store. So, got a refund then bought a Sport and been really happy with it. Went SS to avoid scratches, and haven't had any on the Sport since July.

No difference between the two in feel (always laugh at people that post about these alleged massive differences, be it the SS having more to it and feeling more "like a watch" or the Sport and people saying its lighter, utter codswallop), looks-wise, depends on the strap. With a sport strap, doesn't matter which one you've got, with the Milanese & link band, the sport doesn't look as good as the SS IMO.

The functionality of the device has me already locked in, so if they bring out a thinner version (as per a concept I saw on CultofMac) then I'd probably get that, SS, probably not.

No. The sport model meets all my needs. I use the sports strap when working out, and a milanese loop the rest of the time. I think the milanese loop looks fine on the sport model from all normal use angles, but I concede that if you look at the watch in profile, you can see the contrast in metals, which can detract from its appearance.

The price jump from £299 to £479 for a shinier shell is not justified for me.

No. I like the matte look plus don't want to spend more $ for a depreciating asset.

If Apple Watch 2 is utterly mind blowing, then I might consider getting one, MAYBE the SS model....but I just might wait until the price drops like this Apple Watch did during the Holidays.

Right now, I'm sticking with my Sport with no plans on getting AW2 on launch day.

I would've went with SS the first time but at the time the space black SS was more than $1000, but now they came out with one for $550 with the sport band. Definitely SS next time.

I first bought the Sport thinking I didn't want to spend the money on the same watch in a nicer case. A couple months ago, one of my good friends decided he wanted to get rid of his SS Apple Watch and sold it to me for a really good price. After having used the SS one, it's definitely much nicer than the Sport and I'm happier with it overall. The screen doesn't have little scratches on it like my Sport did, and the heavier feel definitely seems more like a premium product.

I look at my Watch Sport every day and wish I'd bought the Stainless Steel one - not!!

Very happy with the Sport, but I might Spring for a Gold one next time, hoping there'd be more bands available with matching pins, lugs, etc.

While the sapphire screen sounds nice, it currently is not as good as the Ion-X in sunlight, and I'm not sure if I'd be able to ignore the inevitable tiny scratches on the stainless steel case. It's also heavier so that's not great.

So I'm not planning on replacing or adding a Stainless Steel one, but you never know what Apple may come up with.

I would consider jumping to SS if it was brushed metal look as opposed to shiny like current model. I prefer a more subdued look.

Definitely will buy another black sport unless the SS offered other features other than aesthetic. Otherwise I don't see the value in SS, and the sport at $350 offers pain-free upgrading even if I can't manage to sell it (which I'm sure I can get $100-150 for when AW 2.0 ships).

I am very happy with the case on the sport. Several months in and it has held up far better than I imagined. It looks good and feels good on my wrist. What I don't like is the sport band, which I feel looks cheap and is not a good companion to such an expensive watch. Eventually I will spend the money to buy one of the SS bands for it.

Personally, I hope "next time" is a long way off for me. Apple will have to make some sort of very radical change to get me to want to replace my watch as often as I update my phone. I'd like to think I'll still be using my watch in ten years but I think realistically in 4-5 years I'll be looking to update it.

I totally agree here. I can dump my version 1 for whatever I can get for it and keep my bands. I dont think there will be much difference other than screen and casing. I will more likely stick with Sport because its not as fragile as I imagined.

I'll definitely go SS next, but it's unlikely I'll get AW2 unless they add cellular connectivity

I went with Space Grey with BSB. I preordered only 2 hours after ordering began but this was the most popular option so I waited weeks after others got their SS or other sport color combinations to get my AW. Today it looks pretty much the same as the day I took it out of the box. No scratches on either the screen or case but the band is beginning to feel a little worn. I've had some disappointment with my AW (when I tried using it as a runner's watch) but nothing that could have been solved by moving to a more expensive model.

I think when the AW2 or AW3 comes out, I will probably opt for the aluminum model again unless the price difference is a lot closer than it was when I preordered.

Stainless is nice. Sapphire is nice. But both of those are nice-to-haves. I value the ability to see weather, view and respond to texts and other smart watch features more than I worry about how it looks. Hopefully Apple will offer a model that is more streamlined where the watch isn't much thicker than the band. It's not do-able today but I know it's coming someday. I'd also like to see them do a round version.

Bought the SS on launch, but it got scratches on the casing out of nowhere within the two weeks I had it. Just like the old iPods really. I would probably try out the Sport next time, liking the gold option. Sure, it gets scratches too eventually, but it just seems more durable.

I don't wear watches, ever, so that's why I don't wear the Apple Watch (got only the one to try it out). Maybe I'll give it a second chance if they get cheaper after version 2.0 comes out.
