Is the Space Gray the same as the iPhone 6 Space Gray?

For some reason the pictures on Apple's website look darker than the Space Gray on my 6.

I wanted the silver with the black band but now I'm starting to question if that will even be an option since the Black band is pictured with the Space Gray watch.

Supposedly yes. That's what I have heard from reporters at the keynote. I'd assume it would be anyway since they are both anodized aluminum. If you look at the Apple site for the Space Gray 6 it looks similar to the Watch. I think the Watch might look a bit darker because of the shadowing.

Interesting, I never even noticed that there wasn't a Silver/Black band option shown.

Edit: I think you might be able to substitute watch bands on the site. If not, they will most likely be sold separately as well and considering all Sport bands (minus the ones on the Edition Watches) will have Stainless pegs they should match.

I'm hoping to get the Silver Sport with Black Band. I'm hoping that is possible. Who knows.... Hopefully they do allow purchasing the watch series with the specific band you want.

I like the Space Gray and I plan on using it with the black band but are their any comparisons with the Silver/Space Gray Sport for comparison.

I like Silver because I believe scuffs won't be as visible.

I like the framing the silver offers over the all black. I think it allows more versatility with different band colors. I was initially set on the black but after seeing how many options blend better with the silver aluminum I think i prefer it.

I do want something semi-classy though at the sport level pricing. Thats why I'm hoping to get the silver sport with a black band.

How do you know? The prices aren't even announced. I don't understand.

Just based on the fact that it takes them 9 hours to make each one. So I'm just guessing that'll it'll be too expensive for my blood. But I could end up being pleasantly surprised come Monday.

I feel the same way!

It takes them longer actually. 9 hours of milling. Then probably 3 more hours to assemble and polish it.

I'll be getting the silver sport. The only one, in my opinion, that looks good with almost every band they made. Also, it's a first generation product, no way I'm buying a black coated product meant for the wrist. It will look terrible after a months usage, in my line of work.

I'll go SS after the third iteration. Makes more sense money wise to me :)

I’m still hoping for the best on SS pricing, but I’m not willing to go near Gruber’s latest speculation.
With that, I’d like the silver aluminum with a black band (even though that combo isn’t shown in Apple’s Gallery).
I will likely want additional bands for different occasions and I think the silver aluminum is more versatile than the gray in that respect.

I wanted the stainless steel, but given I'm using it primarily for the health features while I'm in the gym and running, it seems stupid to get that much. So I'm forced to get the cheaper sports model, which suits me :p

Space grey with black band :)

After looking at more pics I think my first choice may be Black Stainless. Followed by Space Gray Sport. The silver / aluminum is starting to look a little too plasticky to me. Both of the SS may be too shiny for me though. This is a tough decision. Pricing tomorrow will narrow it down significantly.

But how many are they running at a time? It might take 9 hours from start to finish, but they could have 1000 on a line at a time. Do we know how long an iPhone takes from start to finish?

It takes 15 hours to build a car in a factory, but after waiting that first 15 hours you get a new car every minute!

I was wondering these same things. The space gray watches definitely look darker than the iPhones on the website. And I really hope when it comes time to order we can pick a watch and then pick a band. If they are pre-bundled that is just stupid.

We already know they're pre-bundled so don't waste your time with wishful thinking.

Aside from it being that way on the site now, how do we know for sure? I really hope this isn't the case.

Edit: What I mean is hopefully that is something that changes on the website when pre-orders go live.

It's obvious from apple.com which only shows the ability to select the various models (complete with a band) to choose from. Any more than that is wishful thinking on your part, unfortunately. You may, however, purchase a different band separately as an extra.

Agreed. The only options will be the preselected ones already showing on the web site. If someone wants a different band they will have to buy it separately.

Is true that silver looks better with other bands

Silver may...
Aluminum certainly does not.
The Space Grey aluminum almost hides the fact that it is the cheapest material.
With the silver colored aluminum it is blatantly obvious. I wouldn't get the silver colored aluminum model if it was on a $50 discount even...

The space gray aluminum seems more like the 5S space gray, darker than the 6. My 6+ space gray looks silver to me.
