The all-new Apple Watch Ultra 2 is available to order in the U.S. and more than 40 other countries, with pricing set at $799. The high-end Apple Watch will launch in stores and begin arriving to customers on September 22, but some configurations are already facing lengthy shipping delays as of late Wednesday.

A quick spot check of Apple's online store in the U.S. reveals that models with an Alpine band in Blue in Medium/Large sizes face 2-3 week shipping estimates for orders placed on late Wednesday, while models with the Trail Loop in Orange and Beige for both S/M and M/L sizes face an even lengthier 6-7 week delay at this time. That said, there are still at least a half-dozen band options available with September 22 launch day delivery overall.

The second-generation Apple Watch Ultra offers all of the features of the original Ultra, plus a faster new S9 SiP chip, a new double tap gesture, Apple's brightest display ever, expanded altitude range, quicker on-device Siri, Precision Finding for iPhone 15, and new capabilities for water adventures.

Apple Watch Ultra is advertised as having up to 36 hours of battery life per charge during normal usage, and up to 72 hours of normal usage with Low Power Mode enabled – up 12 hours from the previous generation.

Can't understand this article. There is exactly >>one<< version of the Apple Watch Ultra. All the rest is cosmetics/bands.

If delivery on launch day is important to someone, why would that person not be able to order some other wristband and just discard the unwanted one or put it on Ebay?

Because some people only have exactly 799 in their bank account OK!

That's not really a good option because you would lose some money on the transaction. The best price to value is getting the band you want along with the watch. If you sell it elsewhere, nobody is giving you retail for that band as it is available standalone. And then you have to buy the standalone band at full price on your own.

This article is useful.

Still hoping for the bandless option to save the environment.
Bandless should be an option, but the problem is that people would then want the price reduced which wouldn't happen.

The band Apple included with each watch costs them very little to manufacture, but we can all see the price of each one when you buy it standalone. Including the band let Apple pad the starting price of the watch a bit and they won't be changing that strategy I am sure.

I'd like to see them add the Ultra to the Apple Watch Studio though. I understand those bands are 45mm and not 49mm but as someone who has used a 45mm band on the Ultra, it is good enough. I'd love to be able to purchase a new Ultra with any 45mm band available such as a braided loop and not just the select few 49mm bands.

out of stock due to bands availability…should sell them bandless but EU wouldn’t be happy, Apple selling a watch without a band! unless it’s a wall clock 😉
Has nothing to do with EU in my opinion, see my reply above for my theory on why bandless won't ever happen.

Apple needs to do something about the excessive packaging for bands. There’s no reason you have to open a book to get the band out.

Same for a new watch, last year I had to wait for the worker to get the band from the back. I’ll gladly take a band in a simple recyclable pouch as opposed to a box

100% right. The watch packaging as a whole seems like it can be reduced immensely.

It's cool / cool looking for sure. I am just not sold on smart watches in general. Wish they would release a separate fitness band with some LED's for notifications.
