I wouldn't have it even if Apple sent me one for free. It's by far one of the ugliest Apple products ever.

Yup it’s a pig. I’ve got one with a trail loop on order. I think it’s going to be great.

I just wish there were more band choices.

It is compatible with the 42-45mm bands.

Even if I wanted one, which I don’t, after last week it might be wise to wait for the initial inevitable bugs before rushing in. Just saying.
Yeah I just cannot justify another $800 (especially after upgrading to my new 14 ProMax LOL which I did want). My AW 7 does me just fine. I am not an athlete (am 72) or super outdoor hiker, climber, or diver so what would I need it for? Niche product it seems in my needs. UPDATE: But as someone correctly stated I cannot generalize for all just more my age group that is not into level of activity in most cases.

Even just for the sake of battery, I think Apple Watch worth it for folks who needs to wear Apple Watch away from their iPhone often. I bet half of the people ordering this Apple Watch don't give a **** about those "advanced" features designed for athletes.
Another bonus is the flat surface. I find it irritating to tap the corner of the screen just to go back to the previous level, or do anything that needs me to tap the edge. Flat screen is definitely a welcome change IMO.

This is going to be a very niche product.
9 articles on the home page exclusively on the watch may create some interest though. I think it'll be a bit like the SS watches but easier to tell when someone has it. What I think will be niche is the number of people who use the additional features. I think this will be mainly a fashion accessory for many.

After years of resisting I decided to get an Apple Watch. I’ve had a Garmin for a while and really liked the 2-3 week battery life but I’d rather not take my phone when I go running. Ordered a Watch 8 with cellular this morning and then saw this. Looks like there’s decent availability for these in DC so I switched my order to an Ultra. Primarily I just want the longer battery life and I like the fact it is more durable. Yes, is is $274 more than the Watch 8 cellular but battery life is pretty important to me. I just wish there were more band choices.
Yeah would like the battery life that it gets but most of the other features are not for me my AW 7 does all I need for exercise tracking (walking in my case at 72 years old LOL)

I would like one simply to get the larger screen. As it has the same CPU as my old watch though, I'll wait for a significant sale or gen 2.

at $750, you need to be sure you actually want/need this. I checked and every single store in my area has them available.
For folks that were paying for the SS or titanium version already, the price I don't think was an issue, this looked like a value compared.

No offense intended, but you appear to be in a different, perhaps narrower niche demographic than the one to which this is targeted.

2 hours after store availability opened up at my local store and you can still pick up an Ultra with Alpine today. If mine was not out for delivery today I would have pounced.

I was pretty sure some people would be snatching them up and then reselling on CL in my area to take advantage of those on the late October list. But guess I am wrong.

While they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I appreciate many will love it, I personally think this is up there as one of the ugliest Apple products ever designed.

at least you can use any 44mm/45mm apple watch band with it which is kind of nice

EDIT: many others beat me to it ;)

72 yrs old. It’s not for your targeted age group. Of course you see it as a niche product and that’s fine but you can’t make a general statement for an entire group

I get why this watch is an attractive upgrade - unsure why people with first gen AirPod Pros would feel they need to upgrade.
I am upgrading. Had the AirPods Pro since launch and it’s almost 3 years old. The battery has degraded quite a bit. You’re right the upgrade is modest, but when you add it all up it’s worth it for me.

I waited a few days before deciding to order the Apple Watch Ultra. Estimated shipping is in October. Cancelled web order and picking up in store today. Nice surprise for me.
