”I agree I wanted it for the bigger display now knowing it’s the same why would anyone want a huge ugly case and get bigger bezels and screen, the normal watch is durable enough, and I wanted the brighter display and louder speakers but not gonna get it just for that, it’s a shame the series 8 is a useless upgrade.”

“Because it’s ugly and huge and not sleek, and I change the watch every night anyways and now it has low power mode, the ultra isn’t a good option at all they should of made the series 8 better”

”So silly the watch is huge because if case and bezels they should of made the screen bigger in sticking with series 7 horrible Watch updates this year”

So, you bought the watch anyway! You bought so you could return it, after complaining about it. Pathetic.

a problem with the new ultra even tho it says it has a slightly bigger screen the text on messages for the contact doesn't show the whole name while on the series 7 it does, both are set to smallest text size but for some reason the ultra cant show the know name so its actually a down size, this watch is going back, the only thing I like is the brighter display which they should of given the series 8. also the bezel and case make the screen look even smaller than series 7, this isn't good, its being returning asapView attachment 2076725
Why are you ignoring that the S7 cuts off some of the text box at the top? The Ultra screen is bigger and shows more vertical info. It has rounder corners. But you seem adamant about complaining.

This is hilarious

Just rewatched the Apple reveal video for the Ultra and it was touted as being "the biggest, brightest display ever in Apple Watch." However, technically, I am not so certain that it is a bigger display, and if so, it hasn't been optimized well in the examples shown in this thread.
Technically it is a larger screen and undoubtably it is the brightest; but anyone purchasing the Ultra for the screen size is kind of missing the point of the Ultra.

I'll agree that the difference in screen size is not as remarkable as the difference between the 41mm and 45mm despite the there also being a 4mm case size difference between the 45mm S8 and 49mm Ultra but the Ultra does not have an edge to edge screen like that found in the other Apple Watches so that's to be expected. Apple is also not touting the screen size other than mentioning it's the largest and brightest both of which are technically correct and none of their promotional material is indicating that the screen is remarkably larger than the 45mm whereas it does specifically call out that it is double the brightness.

No argument with that statement

Meh. I don't think I've ever looked at the messages app on my watch. I just use siri and AirPod Pros.

I noticed this immediately on Apple's website last week, that the Ultra has more rounded corners and shows no more information in the corners. It shows slightly more of the map at the straight edges, but nothing more in the corners. I then realized that the rounded corners would not be good for text.

Yeah, that's a total fail for me. Books is my most used watch app...

…did you adjust the font size in the settings and see if you get the result you’re looking for before returning it?

Also, 3 pages in and from what I saw only one mention of this setting? This site use to be a place for advice instead a place for lousy “hot takes”. What gives?

Of course they didn't. Isn't it much better to slam on Apple than to try and fix the "problem" by themselves?

Every september is the same:

  1. new stuff announced
  2. 90% of people here in the forums slam on Apple, the other 10% rejoice
  3. There's a problem with a feature: "Appel bad, REEEEE" "muh Samseng much bettar"
  4. Apple fixes something: "about time", "nice QA from Apple, LOL", "bla bla random rant"
Rinse and repeat ad infinitum. But next year they're upgrading from their last year Pro Max 1TB for the new shiny one, even though "it's not much of an upgrade, but...".

apple should never have said the biggest Apple Watch display ever as it really isn't in a way

I want a brighter screen louder speaker that should have been on series 8, most people that are buying the ultra are not extreme sport people they just want the latest and greatest and series 8 has nothing, apple said bigger display that is what I wanted
Then you and others who have the same thinking as you bought it for the wrong reasons then. This ultra watch is not your normal run of the mill everyday Apple watch, it is a watch designed for a very specific purpose in mind.

Which Apple Watch has a larger display?
the series 7/8 the ultra is tiny bigger but you dont notice side by side, but the corners are more round so its smaller at the top so cuts text

He said on the second line of the post you quoted..."both are set to smallest text size".

I don't understand why this guy is getting all this grief for pointing out a strange functional anomaly. The majority of posts about the Ultra are about appearance.

Because he claims the ultra's screen isn't the biggest when in fact it is. Now he's backtracking and moved the goal post and saying it's a "tiny" bigger. The pic showing the text screen is a single case. In both cases I can see the same stuff. It doesn't prove anything other than the texts are shown differently. Show me the other apps like Maps. I wish I had a series 7 or 8 to compare.

Edit: There's also a matter of optimization. This is their first go at this size watch.

Lol. Apple designed it to sell to the masses. The purpose as you put is simply how they’re marketing it.

Yep. It's like they've never heard of SUV's and GoPro's. Most people who buy these never use them as they were marketed.

Yes he is wrong to say the screen is smaller, it is slightly bigger but a slightly different shape which causes some text to be truncated. You can chose to call it "shown differently", I call it "truncated". It really isn't a big deal and wouldn't stop me getting the Ultra but it is very surprising to me and I think Apple will fix it in an update.
