You would probably be better off. That way you know it is brand new vs refurbished.I wouldn't pay the 500. I would just buy a new Ultra.
I thought the watch is rugged and tough to withstand extreme activities.
If you can afford to replace a product, insurance is always a bad bet. If insurance was not a good deal for the seller, they would not offer it. Liability insurance is different.I have no idea why someone would get a marquis smart watch and *not* get AppleCare. That's just pure folly.
Well… maybe. Have to look at the cost of the AppleCare and the perceived chance that you’ll have to use it. Most product insurances are a ripoff to the consumer (read: profitable for the company), or else they wouldn’t exist.Sheeesh! So it's best to purchase Apple Care for this Apple Watch Ultra.
Correct. So you bought 2 years, then moved month to month?
I think I'll buy it on my CC for their warranty.
I agree with you in general, but sometimes you have more knowledge about your situation than your insurance provider does. If you wear your watch in high risk situations constantly then your insurance cost is subsidized by the people buying insurance on their Watch that they only wear on special occasions.Well… maybe. Have to look at the cost of the AppleCare and the perceived chance that you’ll have to use it. No, it really isn't either of those two thingsIt really is comical ... and criminal ... how much Apple charges to repair their devices outside of Apple Care.
What law are they breaking?criminal
Yes, it really truly is.No, it really isn't either of those two things
It's a figure of speech. If I say I'm watching a movie that's so boring it's killing me, it's not literal. What law are they breaking?
In the US that’s just a trade off cost for people with the median income. You want the watch so you skip a few expenses for awhile. Other nations may vary.Hard to know how to respond to such a comment.
So, you say "it really truly is" to it being criminal. But then say next that the criminal part is "It's a figure of speech"...Yes, it really truly is.

Or in poorer countries, there have been stories of people literally selling their organs to buy Apple devices. D:In the US that’s just a trade off cost for people with the median income. You want the watch so you skip a few expenses for awhile. Other nations may vary.
Same thing as the way people say “literally” and then follow it with something that can’t possibly have happened. So, you say "it really truly is" to it being criminal. But then say next that the criminal part is "It's a figure of speech"...![]()
Dude, please just stop. It's both comical how expensive it is and criminal (in my opinion, which despite your best efforts, I'm allowed to have). Criminal can be used in a sense that says something is disgraceful or bad.So, you say "it really truly is" to it being criminal. But then say next that the criminal part is "It's a figure of speech"...![]()
Except that has no comparative circumstance to anything I just said. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing.Same thing as the way people say “literally” and then follow it with something that can’t possibly have happened.
AppleCare covers more than just accidental damage. Battery replacements and warranty-type failures are free. Toss in a few of those over the years and the cost/benefit can be a lot more reasonable. This is for the new Ultra:
499 to repair without AppleCare
99 for AppleCare + 79 for a single repair under AppleCare. So, 178 to repair with AppleCare
That is a 321 difference
If you had 4 apple watches with AppleCare over the years and never had an incident until now, you would have spent 475
If you had 4 apple watches with AppleCare over the years and never had an incident you would have spent 396 (for nothing)
If you had 4 apple watches over the years and never bought AppleCare, you would have saved 396 that could go towards the 499 repair and it would cost you only 103 more than you saved
If you had 4 apple watches and never bought AppleCare over the years and never had an incident, you would have 396 extra dollars in your pocket
And... if you NEVER bought ANY warranty for ANYTHING over your lifetime, I promise you will come out way ahead, even with repair bills like this.
You are making hyperbolic (at best, false at worst) statements about Apple products that some people might misconstrue. I am not arguing semantics, I am clarifying your hyperbole (That you doubled down on when I mentioned that the exaggerated nature of your statement) so people know that repairing/replacing a very tiny wrist computer is expensive, and there is nothing criminal or comical about it. I don't have to stop.Dude, please just stop. It's both comical how expensive it is and criminal (in my opinion, which despite your best efforts, I'm allowed to have). ": DISGRACEFUL It's criminal how unfunny this comedy is."
Please stop arguing the semantics of language over my opinion regarding Apple's repair prices. You're also completely wrong regarding my use of language. So please go be semantic somewhere else.
Except that has no comparative circumstance to anything I just said. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing.
No, you're just arguing for the sake of arguing. There is zero hyperbole in my comment. If you want the simplified version that doesn't offend your sensibilities, I could have just said, "Wow ... that is really expensive!"You are making hyperbolic (at best, false at worst) statements about Apple products that some people might misconstrue.
