Have you looked at the alternatives from Garmin etc?

etc.
I like the Garmin better since batteries last way longer. I have the latest SE and don’t wear it. Probably will give to my daughter. Really don’t like the battery life for the iWatch. I’m not really a stay connected kind of person though. I just wear my titanium Casio Pathfinder Solar that I never take off.

Completely disagree. Which Garmin watch looks worse than this?
Pretty much all of them?

I mean, they look okay for a Casio / G-shock kind of design (which probably makes sense, considering the environment they will be exposed to, and nothing wrong with that - I wore G-shock exclusively as a kid), but I wouldn't wear them to a formal setting.

Conversely, the Apple Watch (and arguably even the Ultra) look equally at home in a suit and tie setting (I believe MKBHD recently wore his Apple Watch to the Met Gala) as it would while exercising. So I think Apple has done a fine job balancing both form and function here, and that appears to be something the competition has a hard time catching up to. They either have the form (Swiss designer watches) or the function (eg: Garmin) but not both.

I live in the bay area. No chance of me walking into an Apple Store and getting one of these on Day 1. Looks pretty nice though.
Still some in stock in the Bay Area. This morning there were many in stock.

I finally got mine and really love it. Its just enough for me and the fact that the battery life is a lot longer makes me like it even more. Now I'm contemplating not trading in my Apple Watch 6 since the trade-in value is only $90. I'd rather just keep it and use the Watch 6 for special occasions since it looks much better on my other watch bands. Still undecided.

I’m not even an outdoorsy person. I love the Apple Watch Ultra for the chunky fashion statement.

For the price you're paying Apple should provide LTS options for the high-end watch, They might sell more if they said they will provide software support for the next 10 years or say that the logic board can be upgraded to the next generation, something to assure people that you're not buying an $800 watch just for five years.
Nope we are spending $800 for 1 year, then upgrading again. It’s the Apple way!

I love this new Ultra edition. Everything about the look, size, fit & finish is exactly how I like my traditional analog watches. (Big and chunky.) If only I had $800 lying around, I’d trade up my Series 5 in a heartbeat. Maybe I’ll sell a kidney.

This has to be one of the most meh new releases apple has ever done from a redesign perspective. I think it’s absolutely hideous. Some apple fans will buy anything. The posts of this thing on small wrists are pretty cringe.

Returned mine an hour after I received it from UPS. Way too big. Not what I expected.

Yep, designers must have been on acid & closet Steve Jobbs haters, who scribbled this design on the rear of a cigarette packet on a Friday afternoon while wearing +3.5 correction lenses & had a bet with each other to see who could make the biggest mess up. Maybe it’s meant to be worn above the knee?

Absolutely hideous, the only thing they missed on the design was adding a pair of wheels and 2 handles and calling it a wheelbarrow.
