I have to be honest, when I saw the image I thought it was Apple watch edition pictured from 2 different angles. It took me few seconds and zooming to find out it was another same looking one.

The screen is off. Turn the screens on and there is a HUGE difference in graphics.

Seriously makes me doubt if I'll get the :apple: Watch.. My main usage of a smartwatch will be notifications anyway, so the :apple: Watch REALLY has to have a killer feature that'll make me reconsider. The 10 day battery of the Pebble Steel is just fantastic. Also, price.

The iWatch does look better than the Pebble, but I still don't like the square shape.

Seriously?
We have a new Samsung here.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Samsung's copying as much as the next guy. But it's highly unlikely Pebble designed this thing within just a couple of months after the Apple Watch was announced. It's more than likely coincidence.

I have the original pebble steel. Only 7 days in and I really like it.
Ill hang onto to it until maybe the 2nd gen Apple watch.

I get around 5 days of battery on one charge.

Wow that is just shameless. lool they're trying to get the watch to market before Apple.

I'm waiting for the prices of the stainless steel Apple Watch. Til today I think the Moto 360 and the Apple Watch are the best looking smartwatches just a shame Moto is android only.

Pretty shameless. Pebble produces a great product, I thought them above this kind of nonsense. But I suppose the lure of "buzz" enticed them. Now their new watch can ride on the coat tails of apples.

I Doubt it would take long to gold color the steel watch and add a red strap.

Don't fool yourself. Pebble is most certainly being a copycat.

Actually if you look carefully, the screen is on.

Hey, you're right.... just looked at the alleged 'pebble' screen, and it doesn't look like it's a real pebble screen. There are no pixels. The pebble screen is only like 144 x 168 - no way that is a real screen.

THIS is a real pebble screen:

the watch isn't done yet - these are probably renderings - plus they did every trick in the book to make it look like an apple watch - gold watch/ red strap floating in space - darkened the screen to make it look black - etching added to the button on the side. Really sad Pebble!

There is enough room in the smart watch market. Obviously what will matter to people are the presentation, the internals, the compatibility. I say good for Pebble.

(I have no interest, I want a watch that is good for sports activities, and the steel comes with leather, which I don't wear and a link bracelet which seems like it'd be uncomfortable for sports activities. And gold is still ugly)

I thought the new Pebbles don't come out until May.

Down to the EXACT TIME (10:09) that Apple uses in its promotional renderings!!! (Although I remember hearing before that there is a reason Apple uses 10:09...maybe it's not an Apple specific reason?)

----------

But any discerning eye can tell the real deal from the knockoff...the Pebble looks boxy and not as elegant.

Just to be 1 minute ahead of the rest of the watch industry is the best guess reason.

Most ads for analog watch faces show the time at 10:10 or thereabouts, as that is the best way to position the clock hands so as to not obscure the manufacturer logo and other displays, like calendar, that the watch might have. Apple copied this for their watch face ads. It makes more sense on the watch faces with analog hands, but they used the same time for their digital watch faces. But the use of 10:09 rather than 10:08 or 10:10 or 10:12 is Apple-specific.

You're right - i didn't catch that - good eye! Obviously Pebble wanted to get some attention by doing this - it's clearly a calculated move do drum up tweets and posts - I wonder if it will bite them in the butt? I think their biggest problem is they don't have the man power/money to compete with the "big boys". I have the original Pebble and it looses connection to my phone all the time. The weather on the thing is always wrong - very annoying. Every product has bugs - I'm fine with that - but they need to fixed - eventually... Apple always does - may take them a while - but they do. I don't think Pebble has the resources to keep up.

Ha ha - Apple still has that snarky tone of Steve Jobs - good! Tell the smart watch world to look out - cause here they come to show 'em how its done!

The funny thing is that everyone is going nuts because the new Pebble Time has raised ~$12million already. That's 60,000 watches.

Apple will sell 10x this easily in the first day or less.
