The watch bands being in front of the watch face is super distracting. Not to mention inaccurate perspective and scaling.

Perspective and scaling are unimportant nit-picky details. The article talks about watches in shortest supply—those with the link bracelet, leather, and modern buckle. The image shows those bands better the way they're arranged.

all the other countries who can not buy it now.
are allowed to buy it.

before the start, let the first countries to wait for a month.

I have been an Apple customer since 1978. I still don't get this product.

Wake me up when the whole iPhone fits in the watch. Otherwise, it seems like a $350 mouse.

Why do you want to operate an iPhone on a tiny screen? That would be useless.

A mouse doesn't provide me notification, at a glance info, stop me getting my iPhone out of my pocket...

Well the SG Sport seems to be in limited supply so they might get a few in the store and someone who did not preorder could get one before people who preordered get theirs. We can TRY to grab one in store but it will probably be limited supply. There is no excuse for having people who did not pre order get theirs before we do.

I think it is unlikely that they will have stock of non-fullfilled pre-orders in store. Hence the late June likely availability.

However if they have stock of items that are not on backorder (for want of a better term) why not start selling them in store.

Yep, this is the screw up that makes this Apple's worst launch. If you had ordered a 38 SS with a W or B SB, I bet your wife would have had it. I also bet you ordered a sports band of some sort for your wife's watch and would be happy to have that and wait for the elegant MCB. But since you paired the SS with MCB, you are delayed. That is the big miss on Apple's part. I understand why they want folks to be in the habit of buying the watch with a band included. And I understand that they had to start with this process from the initial sales to develop the habit. But it has messed up some of their best customers' experiences.

But I would not say that you are close to missing your window. Really there is a lot of time left before the 28th. Should you be annoyed? Definitely. But if you wanted to bet if that watch was going to show up on or before the 28th, I don't think you would find many takers for 29th or later. It is only the 19th and the time between charge and delivery is turning out to be three or less business days consistently.

Yes, I know... you certainly are correct regarding the question of am I "close to missing my time window" for the wife's watch delivery. Even though the entire purchasing process has been completely exhausting from the start, and even though I received my watch ahead of schedule, the extreme close proximity between her estimated shipping date(s) and mine (1 day) that was provided by Apple presented an allusion, even an impression if you will, that the delivery dates for the two watches would be within close proximinity of one another (1 day perhaps based on delivery estimates provided). In the end, the estimated delivery ranges were ultimately laden with false hope and misguided foresight to any real clue of the slightest possible wait mate of an actual delivery timeframe lol. And as you said, if I were a gambling man I would bet heavy on the wife's watch actually being delivered to our home BEFORE the close of the estimated delivery window provided by Apple.

The major frustration you mention comes from exactly the direction you identified; the realization (after the fact) that had I ordered the watch with an alternative band combination it would have already been delivered, with us simply waiting a few days, or even a few weeks yet perhaps, for the other, additional bands we ordered for the watch. But because of the specificity of the exact watch/band combination ordered, the delay was considerable from the moment I placed my thumb to the glowing Apple Pay logo.

That being said, this whole delivery issue, missed time estimates, inaccurate preorder information, the Apple site online not being available right at preorder launch, and now with stores locally claiming to be likely recipients of Apple watch product to sell through store outlets while loyal Apple preorder customers have yet to even receive their watch (yes I know this a loaded statement to make with a ton of built-in acceptable assumptions I'm assuming that will all be true in JUNE simply for the sake of discussion) is going to essentially hurt Apple in the long run. Loyal customers who were once willing to wait in line all night long for a release-day product, or wake up in the middle of the night to preorder a new device, are now all turned off by this experience moving forward. People pay the "Apple Premium" not just for quality hardware and software but for the entire "Apple Experience," and every little thing that goes with it; the comraderie from waiting in line with strangers, the niceness of the packaging, the great customer support, the question-less returns with product defects or issues, the feeling that you are getting a better experience. Now people are so agitated by this mess that it has left a sour taste in their mouth and in their wallets. My use case is a perfect example: I ordered both the watches at the same time so we would both receive them at the same time. We were excited and couldn't wait to get the shiny new Apple toys. Well fast-forward 4 weeks and I receive mine. I was excited and about the device and was glad I made the purchase. However, it was hard to stay excited about MY watch because the wife's watch is still NOT HERE yet. So now the watch for ME has lost some of its luster and shine due to the fact that it only benefits me in a selfish way and the process has dented the excitement that my wife had for her watch as well. Hopefully the mood changes upon arrival of her watch but honestly I am not sure. Being honest, if I asked her now, based on me having mine for the past 3 weeks and her not having one (had we both not originally ordered the two for us both), if she wanted me to order her a watch to be delivered in a week I think she would say NO. The emotional let down from all the delivery issued and inaccurate delivery and production data has been visibly disheartening.

I know this seems dramatic and extreme, over a silly watch, and maybe it is; however, for a family of TWO that spends an annual budget close to $12k a YEAR at the local Apple Store, whether silly or not it has caused extensive damage to the way this household collectively views Apple moving forward with products and services. Yes I know it was a new product category and yes it was run by a new VP and yes it was Cook's first product alone (not technically but I will allow it) and yes, yes, yes... But, look at the past two years of the product cycles, look at the recent product launches, and compare the differences now and in the past. And I am not looking at Apple financials because YES Mr. Cook is doing a GREAT JOB increasing the share price of Apple stock ten-fold and I am thankful for his hard work as an investor. That aside, an honest, non-biased totalitarian assessment of everything Apple over the past 4 years will provide all the information I am alluding to now. I hope it changes, I really do; from a product and services standpoint as again I implore Mr. Cook to please continue doing whatever it is he is doing to generate the returns on Apple stock he is earning.

Wow what a really, really long post. Sorry forum readers. Guess I had more to say than I thought lol.

Thanks for reading.

Best

You all are freaking out about this launch, try some of the other launches starting in the 80's. Anytime there's a new product there's glitches in the launch or complete failure in general. iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 4 white, iPhone 1, numerous iPads and iPods, Mac Pro, iMac G5, iMac G4, Cube, Newton, Original Macintosh, Apple 3, Lisa... all bad launches or failures (failure being a failed product or completely unavailable at launch.) Most of the failures were on Jobs watch, but damn that reality distortion field. No company has never been perfect but I got my Watch on "launch" day and it has no glitches and does exactly what they advertised it to do. I figured I'd choose the basic SS with WSB as the CEO wears himself and upgrade to other bands. They probably should have just offered the WSB and BSB with all models but then people would bitch about having to buy extra bands yet secretly they would buy them all. Why do you expect perfection on the watch launch? There is no logical reason to do so.

I haven't "technically" missed the Apple estimated window yet; however, it is getting close.

On 4/10 @ exactly 3:01 AM (EST) - an added minute of time passed waiting for the site to load of course - I ordered a 42mm SS with BSB for me and placed be order through the Apple App using Apple pay. Totally transaction time under a minute to complete and received the email confirmation from Apple stating a purchase time of 3:02 AM (EST).

I immediately (literally after that order said paid and not waiting for the email confirmation before ordering a second watch because I did not want to waste time waiting lol) ordered a 2nd Apple watch for my wife, also through he Apple App using Apple pay as well. Her watch was a 38mm SS with Black Modern Buckle. Order went through at 3:04 AM (EST). Received email confirmation from Apple with a purchase time of 3:05 AM (EST).

After the two watch purchases I then went back to the store and made again 5 separate purchases from 3:08 - 3:17 AM (EST) for additional bands and charging cables and accessories. I figured this way the watches could get ordered, processed, and establish a higher queue ranking that will be determined by purchase time; did not want to extend the time while shopping for the accessories lol.

All said and done I received the estimated shipping windows below:

42mm SS BSB - May 14-27th
38mm SS MCB - May 15-28th
ALL Bands - 4-6 weeks - May 15-28th
Charging cables - 4-6 weeks - May 15-28th

As time has passed now, I RECEIVED EARLY the 42mm watch (mine) about 2 weeks ago; around May 2nd. Great. Figured the wife's would be here anyway thereafter since the delivery estimate was off by ONE DAY from mine.

It is NOW May 20th and the 38 SS BSB is STILL NOT DELIVERED; it remains in "Processing" status. The window is May 15-May 28 so there is STILL some days. BUT.... I have NEVER had a preorder EVER get delivered AFTER the 1st day in the estimate window, and everything is usually shipped early (like my watch).

To add injury, ALL of the bands and chargers and accessories have ALL been DELIVERED!!!

Not sure WHAT is going on, but I am keeping a close eye on things and trying to determine what is happening with the SS MCB orders/deliveries.

And input would be greatly appreciated if you ordered this watch setup.

Thanks

There's a very long thread on the Apple Watch forum here on MR about the Modern Buckle. If you haven't read it already, you should give it a look. You're not alone.

With an order time of 3:04 EST, I'd say your wife's is about to ship and will make the delivery window, given the reports in the thread I mentioned.

42mm Sport SG BSB ordered 4/29 estimate June 17-24

Hi
Currently I have:
Processing Items Available to ship: 5-6 veckor Delivers: 17 Jun, 2015 - 24 Jun, 2015

Does anybody know how long time from when it changes to :
Preparing for Shipment:

until
Shipped: (in hours)

then until
Delivered to my home in reality... (rough in days or hours)

I might have to change delivery address based on this, so need to know.
(If nothing happens before June 15th, and estimate from Preparing to home delivery is over 2 days, I have to change address for delivery)

Thanks :)

My order for a 42mm Space Grey Sport placed on 25th April has finally updated from a vague shipping date of "June" to a more accurate but slightly disappointing "5-6 weeks (22nd to 29th June)" - I was really hoping for early June rather than the last week of June.

I'll be upset if they are in the stores before my online order arrives...

Something is not right on their queuing system. I ordered the 42mm Apple Watch with link bracelet on April 27th with estimate in "June". Two days ago it updated to delivery by 22-29 June. Funny (not so) thing is that if you order it right now you get 5-6 weeks, which means exactly the same delivery date after I have waited almost a month!. How is it possible?

Cherry on top of this sh * t cake is if watches start being available in stores at the same date or earlier than my 9 weeks wait. Not happy.

For the record: bought and to be delivered to Munich, Germany.

I hate that I ordered my watch April 10th and you guys ordered way latter then me with ship dates the same as me!!! Something doesn't add up. Apple is handling this launch very terribly. Then again I really should stop stressing. I get the watch when I get the watch. Nothing I can do. There are starving kinds in China and I am here moaning about a stupid watch. First world problems I guess lol.

So, the question is.....When in June? will they be early June? I would imagine, just guessing tho, it would be early June in stores. I would also guess that everyone's April orders will be fully fulfilled by the end of May.

Hope your right I have a ship date of June 22-29. And as I stated I ordered on April 10th. Would suck to see people go into the store and buy one while I wait for mine.

----------

I ordered a blue sport 42mm 4/27 and got it today.

@##$%^& YOU I PRE ORDED AND STILL WAITNING. I should have gone blue lol. I went pink because its my favorite color. Oh well good for you I guess.

p.s. I orded 42mm Aluminum Pink Sports band.

A month ago some people were screaming at Apple for not having them in store. Now some people are screaming at Apple for having them in store.

Apple sells through multiple channels. It's ramping up supply, and it's about to start feeding another channel. Apple is NOT going to freeze all channels until the first one is completed!

You ordered on 4/11, a full 24 hours after the launch, when it was already common knowledge about supply constraints. You are a long way down the queue. A different queue is going to start moving.

I hope the complainers on this thread aren't like this in supermarket queues

I ordered on 4/11 and I'm not 24 hours after the launch, that's after pre-orders began. The point of preordering an item is so that you'll be one of the first to receive said item.

I ordered 30th and have the same. Ordered same Watch. Was hoping the same as you but maybe a positive that can be taken from this is that orders 5 days between each other are being lumped together now. Maybe this means less orders = quicker delivery (hope that makes sense). I'm in the UK, by the way. Are you the same?

I ordered on the 13th and I have, basically, the same shipping window.

Well, I have 18/6 to 26/6, actually, because I'm in China and in the same city as the factory.

I ordered my wife's 38mm green on the 30th April - over two weeks after mine - and it was dispatched just now for delivery tomorrow. I knew I shouldn't have gone for space grey :(

42 Sport SG, BSB

42 mm Apple Sport Space Gray with Black Sport Band

Ordered April 29th. (Germany)
First info: Ship in June.
Info May 18th morning: Delivers June 22-29
Info May 18th afternoon: Delivers June 17-24

I wonder - will this continue as they are getting a more stable and foreseeable production process.

I mean, will they soon change to "Delivery June 10-17" then "Delivery June 3-10" then "Prepare Shipping" etc?

What do you think? So bad that they do not communicate to all loyal people who have already ordered.

Excited to see the watch in shops on the 30th of June.

Imma beat you by like 24 hours even though I ordered on April 19. WOOOOO. /sarcasm

I understand there are real problems in the world. But damn this is a tough wait. I have this hope that in the next week all of a sudden a stash of 42mm SS models will get unleashed and my date will move up like a bunch of people with the same watch in the Sport model.

Have they missed a specified shipping window yet? The rage confuses me. If they promised a Watch on a date and didn't deliver it, then I understand the rage. Otherwise, this just comes down to how fast they can make them. And they obviously can't make them fast enough right now.

We have many special snowflakes.

We have many special snowflakes.

I'm a special snowflake, my momma told me so.

Honestly, with all the complaining it should be made mandatory that in order to do so the person must provide their order date and shipping window. My guess is that nothing has been missed yet.

You are assuming all models/band options will be plentiful at all stores. Very unlikely, probably only the watch/band combinations that are listed on the online store as shipping immediately will be in the stores.

Yes I am assuming that most people do not care for smart watches and supplies will improve to a point where you can pick up any combo. We will see.

The launch has gone well for Apple stock but not the customer base.

I found it a jarring experience to go try on watches last weekend then leave empty handed.

I've gone for a BSB rather than the Modern Buckle so the watch should arrive quicker. I also want to see what the longevity of those bands are before dropping £200 on one.

i do hope they fulfill their pre-orders first. Ordered mine on april 12, and it's set to be delivered last week in june. Won't be happy if it turns up in the stores before mine arrives.

Available to purchase in store and actually having stock in the store are different.

Think the gold 5S. There were available to buy in store post launch but no stock for the longest.

I see there being s few watches here and there in stores for a while once avail.

Very right!

So people will he able to walk into a store and buy the Watch basically at the same time when my Watch that I preordered on the first day will be delivered??

I get the fact that you want you're watch as soon as possible - I do as well (Can't even order one yet in Denmark), but it says it will be available - don't think for a minute they will flood the stores before pre-orders have been fulfilled. So easy mate ;)

I can't get my watch till late june. The saddest thing, they cant change the delivery method, from snail mail to in-store pickup once I've ordered.
