Even so, people for whom ECG is a prime reason to buy shouldn't have bought until it was released. Stuff happens with promised features.

I trusted that Apple would be able to keep its promise and it’s still time to do that.

In other words Apple is willing to take your $400 to test their product. Well they’ve been doing this for awhile now with iOS and it works and very profitable.
[doublepost=1543667999][/doublepost]
I don't think so because the device received FDA approvals, so it had to be tested and shown to be accurate.
Only FDA approved this device but not in other country. Besides FDA approves drugs that have been killed people anyways. So the FDA approval is fishy just like the drug that helps lower blood pressure but causes heart attack.

So if you drop dead of a heart attack within 45 days of purchasing an Apple Watch 4 Apple will give you a refund?
Yeah i agree haha.
[doublepost=1543669518][/doublepost]All s4 buyers prior to release of ECG app should be eligible for the 45 days extended return/return also to be fair

Also, the 45 day return policy should only apply to new Series 4 watches purchased on or after the release of iOS 5.1.2.

All of you complaining... If you would be buying it solely for that feature/purpose, you would buy it after the feature is available. What would be the point of having it when you cannot do the one thing you bought it for.

...or be accompanied by the proper FDA-required warnings that it is not fully accurate.

Probably because they’re selling a product on features that the device is not able to do on release.

Just as they said XR would be able to replace 3D Touch. But it doesn’t have all the capabilities yet with the update the phone was released. So really that’s lying to the customers. That’s technically false advertising.
But thankfully apple covered themselves by saying, it will be able to replace 3D Touch in coming updates.

So, I now have 45 days to return my iWatch and walk out with nothing. Or, if you “traded” your iWatch 3, you get to re-buy a new iWatch3. What a deal.

Yes and no. Yes, you'll get a refund, no they won't be able to give it to you because you'll be DEAD.

My original post wasn't clear...what I meant to say was, Had I known that Apple would
I agree this should work or you get a refund but to say if you o my knew how the hell did you not know
What I should have said was, had I known that Apple would offer an extended 45 day return policy on the Series 4 after the release of the ECG App, then I would have waited to make my purchase. Of course I knew that the ECG app wasn't functional at the time I purchased. It doesn't seem fair to people who purchased at product release date...just my take on it.

While the Apple Watch typically has a 14-day return policy, Apple will honor refund requests related to upcoming heart health features for up to 45 days after purchase, according to an internal document distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers in the United States.

iphone-apple-watch-ecg.jpg

The document, obtained by MacRumors, states that Apple Stores will refer these requests to Apple Support, so customers will need to contact Apple by phone, email, or online chat to initiate a refund beyond the usual two-week period.

Heart health features include the upcoming ECG app on Apple Watch Series 4 models and irregular heart rhythm notifications on Apple Watch Series 1 through Series 4 models. A separate Apple document obtained by MacRumors indicates that the ECG app, and likely the notifications, will be enabled in watchOS 5.1.2.

Apple Stores are not required to inspect the Apple Watch if a customer has a heart health-related refund request greater than 14 days after purchase, so it sounds like as long as a customer mentions the ECG app or irregular heart rhythm notifications as the reason for the return, Apple will honor it up to 45 days.

Apple's document does not provide any further details, so it's unclear why this policy exists. While the ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications are regulated features, the extended refund policy is not mandated by the FDA, according to a spokesperson for the agency. Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

Perhaps this is simply more time for customers to try out the heart-related features. Apple cautions that the ECG app is "not intended to be a diagnostic device or to replace traditional methods of diagnosis," and "should not be used to monitor or track disease state or change medication without first talking to a doctor."

To take an ECG reading from the Apple Watch, users will need to place a finger on the Digital Crown while wearing the watch. The reading is completed in 30 seconds, allowing users to determine whether their hearts are beating in a regular pattern or if there are signs of atrial fibrillation.

ECG and other heart data will be collected in the Health app on a paired iPhone 5s or newer running iOS 12.1.1 or later.

If AirPower is released and turns out to be a dud, should I be eligible to return my iPhone 8?

There is a reason you don't buy product at release. You have to wait for at least 4 weeks for deep analysis of the product. By this time, most flaws are exposed. MBP thermal issues, GPU issues, Keyboard too shallow, iPhone XR too dim, MBP reduced TB3 speed on one side, Apple Watch battery issue, iPhone antenna gate, iPhone 5 bending, MBA screen too dim, MBA retina screen not P3, etc. You have to wait.

The return policy won't apply to purchases made at Best Buy or other third parties.

Apple Watch has no battery issue.

In fact your post states as fact several issues which I personally know never happened.

Apple Now Offering Free Repairs of 42mm Apple Watch Series 2 Models With Swollen Batteries"

https://www.macrumors.com/2018/04/14/apple-watch-s2-swollen-battery-service-policy/

Apple will repair select Apple Watch Series 2 models that do not power on or have a swollen battery free of charge as part of a new service policy.

apple-watch-expanded-battery.jpg
An original Apple Watch with an expanded battery via Apple Support Communities
"Apple has determined that under certain conditions, some Apple Watch Series 2 devices may not power on or they may experience an expanded battery," wrote Apple, in an internal document distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers on Friday and subsequently obtained by MacRumors.

"Apple will service eligible devices free of charge," according to the document, numbered SN4534 in Apple's internal GSX portal. "Apple will authorize coverage for eligible devices for three years after the original date of purchase."

The policy was issued in at least the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe, so it is likely a worldwide initiative where service providers are available.

A swollen battery can prevent an Apple Watch from powering on or cause the display to burst open. Photos of the issue have been shared by customers in the Apple Support Communities and MacRumors forums in recent months, but the majority of the incidents are first-generation models released in 2015.

Eligibility is limited to any 42mm-sized Apple Watch Series 2 models, including Sport, Edition, Hermès, and Nike+ variants, pending a visual-mechanical inspection, according to a companion document numbered OP1977. The warranty status of the Apple Watch does not affect coverage, the document states.

This new policy does not apply to the original Apple Watch, Series 1 and Series 3 models, or any 38mm model. A few years ago, however, Apple enacted a similar policy for original Apple Watch models with swollen or expanded batteries that offers free repairs within three years of the original date of purchase.

Affected customers can visit the Contact Apple Support page, select Apple Watch → Battery, Power, and Charging → Bring in for Repair to schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar at an Apple Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. There are also options to contact Apple advisors by phone or online chat. Battery replacements are completed at an off-site Apple Repair Center.

Apple advises customers inquiring about a refund for a previous Apple Watch Series 2 battery replacement to contact its support advisors.

Apple has not announced this policy publicly as it does with some of its other repair programs, but MacRumors has verified the internal document's authenticity with multiple sources. However, outside of our control, some Apple employees advise customers that no such policy exists. In these cases, our only advice is to keep trying or escalate the case to a senior advisor if possible.

I guess I don't get it - people who find they have heart conditions through this want to return the watches? Why? You figure if things go from bad to worse getting a jump on it by being notified by the watch.

Or maybe people expected the ECG to be going 24/7 and my thinking is: it's an on demand thing or the battery would die in minutes.
