Time to kill the Apple Watch. It has not caught on, and has had several years to do so. It is an extremely niche product, that makes Apple PENNIES, even less the their Mac lineup nowadays.

Concentrate on fixing iOS and some fresh, new design and stop wasting resources on a product that isn't growing.

Are you kidding? Apple Watches are becoming nearly as common as iPhones are in Charlotte, NC at least. I'm honestly shocked at how quickly they've picked up steam. And if you can't see the long-term arc of how transformative this product will eventually become, you seriously have no vision. Apple Watch truly has potential to be as impactful (perhaps more so to some people) as iPhone as more health features get added. This is merely the very beginning. It's a humble beginning in some ways to be certain, and there are plenty of kinks to work out, but the future is very, very bright.

I know a bunch of nerds who have Apple Watches. They mostly don't use them for anything, they just sorta have them and think they'll be cool someday. You're probably like these guys.

Last week my parents came to visit me in NYC. My dad has had an Apple Watch for a few months; he bought my mother one just before they left. In the week they were here, they…

- used their Apple Watch for their boarding passes (Delta app)
- paid for their taxis and bagels using Apple Pay
- were showing off their "steps" (you walk everywhere here)
- Dad was keeping his eye on his heart rate like his doctor asked
- Mom got taps on her wrist to remind her to take her daily meds
- Mom got in an accident and wound up in the hospital. She couldn't reach her phone from the bed, but was able to tell Siri to "call Eric" and give me a shopping list.

oh, and I bought my mother a fancy "tea rose" band from Coach. It's nuts and she loves it.

I haven't seen them react to a consumer electronic like this since the iPhone. It's a cliche, but Apple designs goods for normal people, not nerds. The Apple Watch is gonna be a slow, quiet blockbuster.

George Lucas was more instrumental in Pixar becoming what it was, Jobs just happened to purchase it for a steal, it's not like Pixar wasn't making ground breaking CGI before Jobs came along....sure, Jobs is entwined in Pixars history but he had nothing to do with Pixars creation.

Not the animation, the management. Recall that Lucas dumped it long before Toy Story, def. long before Disney entered as a partner. Even Jobs struggled to keep it solvent until his team got Disney on board. Without Jobs' managment they might have never been a Toy Story, or at least as we now know it. Jobs was not just a passive investor as you make it seem.

Did Steve Jobs create Pixar?

Get some Marvel or Star Wars characters and I'm on board. Toy Story is cute but I don't know if many people are really excited about this.

Apple Toy Watch ... It is what it is

Micky ..Mini Mouse now the whole Toy Story Gang.

Goes well with Nemo on iPhone 8.

Apple is a Toy Company

Personally I think it is all about future generation of capital and customers......you get the kids of today on board early with the AW as the faces are cute....they are more likely to buy Apple products when they grow up. If you were to focus on the current consumers they are more than likely already got what they need and so is a limited revenue stream for product.

Generate future customers today and build the brand

Wake me up when Apple introduces a Felix The Cat watch face.

You could screenshot a photo off the Internet of an image of your choice, save the image to photos and then import the photo from your iPhone to the Apple Watch, and use it as a background. Slight work around, but it would work for something somebody wants.

Watch will become a standalone device in some years and a success sold as a bundle together with airpods.

Those were out of stock in the brown color for the longest time but OMG the brownie points I got when I managed to get one for her :D

If a popular childrens game is available on android or windows, does it make it a toy? Does it only count in your eyes if its available by default? How do you feel about candy crush being bundled in Windows 10 then? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

Anybody thinking these are ugly? I mean: the time is fixed in the right top corner and the animations go behind them. It looks so amateurish.

I expected something sleek by now but watchOS needs a lot of polish before I'll use it. Not to mention the nerdy watch design that I would only wear in the gym.

They pivoted. The first gen was absolutely intended to be a fashionable, be seen type of product.
Latest gen is so much more aimed at mainstream fitness users.
It's still not cheap, but consider Garmin's are the same if not more.

I would still call the steel and ceramic high end - not luxury category like Rolex etc. but high end nevertheless when you can spec it above USD 1.299 it's fairly high-end

I think these are fun and it isn't just kids who like Pixar movies (guilty). Seeing as using these is entirely optional, I don't see any need to be po-faced about it (pun intended).

I agree that there should be a wide variety of different faces available, I find it crazy that there aren't more already. I think it'll end up as a store like sticker packs for iMessage. Also I would love to be able to easily make my own animated faces.

Seriously? Watch faces are the big apple watch news? What I'd give for a new killer app for the watch but ....those are more rare than an honest politician.

I think we are going in circles here and have now come 360 so I'll refer you to my initial response to you.
I don't care really, my comment was Steve jobs didn't create Pixar and he absolutely didn't.
I don't know why that's so hard to acknowledge........

Toy Story not appealing to me aside, it's yet another watch face with the same basic layout as the bulk of the digital faces. It's like they ran out of ideas three faces in. So many with the digital time on the top right.

I've worn an Apple Watch with the modular face every single hour of every single day since release and I STILL sometimes find myself reading the date that I have set in the middle of the face instead of the time. No amount of muscle memory has fixed this.

Glance at Watch: it's June 23rd
Put my arm down.
Realize I meant to read the time.
Raise my arm again.
Oh that's what time it is.

Only digital option with a centered time is the giant digital face that stacks the hours above the minutes, requiring the brain to read two lines to tell the time. And there's not a single Complication either.

I'd say Star Wars will be next seeing it's also Disney property now. Who could resist Dark Vader telling you time in his darkest voice.

No he didn't.

Yes, it is Pixar first full length movie.

Oops.. my bad. No, Jobs didn't "create" Pixar. He bought it from G. Lucas.

Personally Apple beat the competition, ALL of them - including SonyEricsson > Sony who really started this space over 8yrs ago (yes they did)! Apple's sales figures are beyond the competition by ALL together vs Apple so it's not so much a 'niche' as you think. By the same measure, Apple vs the competition ... their Desktops ... usually bundled with ALL computers is dismal worse in percentage comparison than the 'Other' space which includes Apple TV + Watch + Accessories + Speaker/Headsets.

Show off:
Cyclists,
Gymnasts
Bodybuilders
CrossFit champions and competitors alike,
students in highschool/university
etc.
use cases of the product is what people need to find a reason to purchase, use, and continue to use or evolve with.

iMac and iMac Pro this winter should serious increase sales by single (and if we're lucky double digit percentage points in USA alone ... seriously lucky on a global scale)! Is it me or is Apple NOT doing enough to advertise just HOW or WHERE their computers can be used vs overglorifying their beauty! it's a computer not simply an art-piece in desktop threads to be shown off just how little wires you have on your stupid desk!!! Grrrr! Apple you can still remain COOL but time to show OFF Programmers and PROGRAMS (highlight partners big and small) show off your demographics of users actually USING your computers and the sales will immensely increase! Highlight accessories especially those you don't have hands in their pockets with!

Remember 2002 show off your partners and sales growth occurs!

Star Wars, BSG, Tron even has better more mature audience ... but I'd honestly think t

And why are you comparing a Mac to an Apple Watch? What does iOS have to do with WatchOS?

well for one updates for WatchOS come through iOS on iPad/iPhone ;)
configuration of what faces beyond the stock setup ... via an app on iOS ;)
pairing the watch for security and notifications and complications ... via an app(s) interfacing from iOS ;)

I'm sure you know this ... but I know you meant what does the core reason for being of WatchOS have to do with iOS ... their almost and quite possibly be one and the same beyond SDK coding at the core of each being related.

Um actually Steve jobs was approached by the creator of Pixar and they together funded it's start. Jobs was FULLY involved by the creating Pixar.
