*THEY* do NOT want you to have accurate weather. Accurate weather forecasts and reports are reserved to *THEM*

GET BACK TO WORK
...I don't understand... who is *THEM*? Did you forget to "put /s" in your useless response?
The *THEM* are professional meteorologists. /s

What I more or less heard about Dark Sky is it was too accurate and professional meteorologists were up in arms because it empowered everyday people.

Maybe it's a conspiracy, maybe it's not. Either way we had something really nice for a time and it was killed off with money.

okay...I get it now. And it sucks how "money" makes the rules nowdays...

Money, time, people, circumstances. I was getting a little towards conspiracy before.

Could just as easily be that Dark Sky's modeling worked really well for a time but didn't account for some patterns or geographies and the necessary changes to make those things work "broke" it for others. Or a rockstar weather software engineer moved on to something else.

It's also about presentation. For my area Apple Weather says 30% chance of thunderstorms for the day. Click to the hourly forecast and it shows instead 30% chance between 7 and 8PM. Life isn't a farming simulator game with only one kind of weather for the whole day.

Reporter: What is the capital of Australia?
Norwegian artist Jahn Teigen: Perth!

He knew it wawn't Sydney!

Jahn Teigen was most known for getting zero points at the European Song Contest, twice, in the 80ties.

The very best "weather" app is Windy. It was designed for professionals in the field. it is available everywhere for Apple and Android. one of the overlays is a wildfire map.

What source of data (model) is Apple using? I am long time user of Windy that seems to be on top of the actual weather.

I believe the model was developed at University of Woolloomooloo by professor Bruce.

Does "United States" mean Canada as well? Because I've certainly seen this next hour feature working here.

Incorrect, it's the BoM! 🙄🤦‍♂️
Why are their temperatures different? They may get some if their data from the BOM but not the temps

Check the differences in the graphic I added. They were screenshots within a minute of each other and they may as well be 2 different parts of the country.

Here, this is Melbourne right now. The Weather App is clearly different from the BOM (BOM is first)

Sheesh that is cold.

I received a notification that light rain would hit at 7:41am this morning, and was not surprised to leave the house and find that it was not raining, nor did it rain on my commute.

So the feature isn’t off to a great start.

As I said earlier in the thread, only for warnings. BoM were forecasting a 0% chance of rain at the same time as Apple were notifying me it would rain (but didn’t).
Not for iOS 17. Yes it is still beta but use 100% BOM data.

I’m on the 17 beta, and the data in both apps is completely different.

The BoM app says it’s 12 degrees in East Melbourne, which is the forecast daily maximum, while Apple Weather says it’s 13 heading for 14. BoM says 50% chance of rain, Apple Weather says it’s 90%.

So it’s not BoM data.

I just noticed its presence for the first time on my screen 10 minutes ago. Serendipitous that it's on a day with somewhat inclement weather, too, otherwise it would have gone unused and unseen.
