It's about time they finally copied all these features from Android. I wonder if they held off because they didn't want it to look like they copied from anyone else. I say, who cares! If there is something good already out there, copy it!

right on, brother!

Why would they want to hide it so badly?

probably ashamed of yet another blatant ripoff of an android feature.

Sniff... sniff... smells like a troll in here..

so anyone not bowing down to the 'almighty' steve jobs is automatically a troll? right....

So, Android users had been using this for years but was it fun? Did they had an enjoyment of discovering the feature hidden by Google and then discussing it on GoogleRumors? They did not.

right, i'd much rather wait several years for a feature to be introduced just so i can find about its eventual introduction on a rumors site!

Please, please don't make this an iPhone 5 exclusive feature, Apple! My iPhone 4 can handle it, I swear!

should've got an android mate.

This is nice, but I'm hoping for a more comprehensive voice recognition, I'd like to see a solution where I can hold down the key on the headset and say "Text to <person>" and the phone acknowledges this by some sort of audio cue to tell me the phone is ready for transcribing.

I have a WP7 with mango, and personally, this is the way to do it. apple should follow this to keep the iOS crowd coming back. I for one wont call it copy, but integrate to build a better product for their users.

Hold the logo key on the phone to pull up voice command, and "Text so and so" works. Also through bluetooth headsets and cars that dont steal all the control ( Benz and most BMWs ).

Seeing system wide S2T would seem a bit over the top.. i dont need to talk to safari for a search... between hitting the button, talking, waiting for the processing, and correcting potential mistakes would take longer than just typing it myself.

Just put it where it makes things convenient..

Although it is quite clear what your differences are, you don't need to worship Google and/or Android.

Android is stuck in a lawsuit with Oracle vs Google; infringement looks quite clear to me.

The space bar is important and I think making it smaller is going to cause problems.

Also its the most used key, so I could easily see the Microphone button being accidentally pressed all the time!

What a nightmare ...Can we all agree that it would be better to place the Microphone button next to the Camera button !

Apple ! Please, if your listening....Change it

they could easily move the mic-button next to the camera one. that would make sence

Dear Apple: If you want to hide something from hackers, hiding it under "Dvorak" is not the brightest idea you've ever had.

Why not just name it something less attention attracting, like "ForbiddenAPIofMystery"?

True, if the Spacebar gets too small, it's a pain. However, the Apple microphone placement matches the Android one, which works just fine.

Well, okay, the Apple one also has that optional World keyboard choice button.

Interesting that everyone uses similar icons, btw. Wonder how many kids have ever seen such a microphone.

If this functions well inside text messages, it will certainly make the roads safer, due to the whole texting while driving epidemic (which I admit I've been guilty of).

no, it won't, because youll still be fiddily-farting around w/ it -- addressing texts, correcting voice recog mistakes, etc..

just dont do it.

Android has the Globe button, as well.

I'd never heard of Dvorak before.

Interesting article for anyone interested in it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvorak_Simplified_Keyboard

It's an alternative layout for keyboards (as opposed to the QWERTY layout that is so prevalent,) that supposedly allows:
1.) People to learn the layout in 1/3 the time it takes to learn QWERTY.
2.) People to type 2x as fast as they do on QWERTY.
3.) People to suffer from less muscle strains from extended typing sessions.

My brother committed to this years ago, and he's now blazingly fast. Ironically enough, he's also pretty fast on qwerty from all the computers for which it is too hard to change to dvorak.

Note how Apple actually paid money to purchase Siri, and is holding negotiations to licence Nuance's technology.

THAT is how a mature company behaves. When they use someone else's ideas, and technologies, they pay for it.

Google simply goes ahead and steals it.

hi there, do you happen to know the amount Apple is paying Google for the notification system? please share. thanks.

Agreed! Move the button somewhere else! Space button is already crippled by the switch keyboard button.
