Let's be cordial. I used to love Apple, but honestly nothing "wow" has come out of Apple for years. They're simply following the road map Steve Jobs laid out. Now that the road map is ending, they're just copying other companies and rehashing old designs.

Fair enough, the smartphone market has stagnated significantly, but iPhones still lack basic upgrades for a smartphone, an OLED screen, curved glass, proper construction of the camera module into the body.

If I don't like the way a company does business, then why would I not take a stance? They don't pay enough taxes, so I choose to no longer buy their products for this reason and others.

Oh and the price in the UK is £600. For a phone. They know who'll buy it, it's not people who like innovation or technology, it's people who like fashion.

iPhone has curved glass and most flagship smartphones have camera bumps.

If OLED is a big feature for you then iPhone is out for now.

I think the iPhone screen is just fine.

I'm not ignoring the fact...AT ALL. What's obvious, and matches with the rumors we've heard, is that Apple can't make enough iPhone 7's this go around because of component constraints. [/QUOTE]

Well, yes. Production shortages mean fewer units for sale. My point exactly when I keep telling you that "selling out of stock" is an empty phrase unless it's attached with actual sales numbers. But Apple has routinely has productions constraints and it's never stopped them from announcing sales numbers. In the past when supply was truly small it also limited initial sales to one or two countries, not the dozens this round. So color me skeptical that slow sales are due to suppliers.

Also, I've been using Apple products for 30 years. Owned AAPL for 16. I love what Apple has brought to computing and CE. That doesn't mean I have to also believe every press release or explanation given from Infinity Loop. Apple isn't perfect.

I want to know if this analyst always looks behind his back for someone trying to get him....

Geez, where have you been - corporations and political candidates are constantly polling and running focus groups AND they never share that date publicly - they just react to the results, as Apple has in this instance. Statistics 101, son - if you get a chance take it as an elective, you'll be better off for it.
I don't really understand what you're saying.

You said overnight polling shows little interest but now you're saying the polling data is never shared publicly?

And I'm not sure what Statistics 101 is. Is that the company that did the polling?

I just want to know where you got your info from!

Google is your friend...
There's something on 9to5 Mac, but that's from July. Google isn't really bring my friend on this as "iPhone 7 poll" isn't bringing up any "overnight figures"

Time Magazine's take on the announcement:

"The news not only erased any gains Apple posted on the back of Wednesday’s iPhone 7 unveiling, it sent the stock down nearly 3% Thursday, reducing the company’s market value by $15.4 billion in a single day. Rather than shrugging off the news and taking Apple at its word, many observers interpreted it as an awkward attempt to conceal a potential weakness. If anything, it heightened the concern that Apple, still the world’s most valuable company, is struggling to maintain the iPhone’s popularity."

If anything this counters the "Apple only does things for financial gain" crowd.

I think it's Tim continuing what he started last year: preparing investors for inevitable sales slowdowns as the world market matures.

The days of always guaranteed hearing "more sales and margin than last year" are going away.

(They would've already gone a couple of years ago if Cook hadn't reversed course and come out with larger displays. That bought him a respite.)

I don't think it's that per-se. I think they are getting away from instant reporting; which makes sense.

Yep. From years of listening and reading his transcripts, I think Cook has disliked having to figure out ways to come up with ever increasing numbers.

Getting away from constant reporting, helps avoids that pain until a quarterly call, where he can control the conversation more.

I disagree about the comment about "increasing numbers", which was my original comment. They started the trend with the Apple Watch and maybe we following Samsung in this regard.

Correct. The fact that they're doing that now when there is a high probability of lower demand/sales is merely coincidence. ;)
Absolutely. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.:D

This is just crazy enough I can't tell if you're serious or kidding... Do you think they're lying about being second to Rolex? That would be no less illegal than any there false disclosure of financial performance by a corporate officer...

Apple does not release watch revenue in any of their financial reporting. This hides the fact from their shareholders that it is a failure.

While what they is not illegal, it certainly is deceptive spin. Placing themselves second against other watch companies for an arbitrary time period of their own choosing is BS.

Try to find quarterly sales figures for the watch.

One, anyone with a brain can subtract the other category it's wrapped into and you're left with Apple Watch sales, which were in the billions of dollars. Secondly, it controls 80% of the entire s,art watch market.

The time period isn't arbitrary, it's the year of 2015. It wasn't chosen by them, it was chosen by Vontobel. The slide is sourced.

Apple does not publish quarterly watch sales, so it's still a smoke screen. Nothing beats open disclosure.

ya so much demand that i somehow completely avoided watching the keynote which i have done anxiously every year since 2007. who cares about people like me though when you can hypnotize the average uneducated consumer with glossy black paint

This number has ALWAYS been "how many phones did Apple produce for launch weekend", same went for the watch. It's been pointless to look at until supply becomes greater than the demand. For those saying it they should make more, the amount of phones they produce for launch is, every single year, a herculean feat. Most phones do not sell that many throughout the entire year...in fact, most CE products of any kind don't even come close. In one weekend, more iPhones will be sold than Xbox Ones and PS4's sold in their launch year.

Lack of demand? Pretty sure you'll find out immediately when preorders start that they're sold out.
[doublepost=1473346565][/doublepost]

No, it is just a window into how many they were able to produce pre-launch. Something that may lead to even more "scrutiny" by forum trolls.
Still plenty available to pre-order - I've never seen that before, usually the wait is long

Oh this isn't an Apple fan website (anymore), it's infected by trolls.
Nah, I remember what I used to be like on this site, with all the trolls, I hated it, now I've seen the light.

Perhaps troll = people who are on their way to leaving the cult...
