I have zero interest in this Apple TV service. I already get everything I need through HBO Now and the Apple TV channels I already have. Local news might be nice, but nothing to write home about.

What we all really want is a new Apple TV that delivers on features we've been waitings years for.
I really wish that Apple, or anyone, could divorce sports from cable TV.

Every single network app that is currently not on Apple TV. And all other video streaming services like: Amazon Prime, Vudu, Google Play... Etc
Ah, I guess I wasn't really thinking of them as apps but I suppose they are. Why does TV need an SDK to get Amazon Prime on it? Couldn't it be added just like any other 'channel' gets added?

Apple, if you are reading this, I won't sign on for multiple channels for $30-$40 per month. Those numbers sound a lot like the entry numbers for cable and dish. Then the fear of it going up when you aren't looking. Ala Carte is the way to go. $2.99 per channel or something like that, with a quick switch to my HD antenna for local networks (free). I literally only want 3 to 4 channels.
Why are you assuming Apple has the power to make ala carte happen? I think as we're seeing with music and now TV, Apple doesn't have the power some people think they do. If they did we'd have seen an TV update long before now.
