I’d love this but also a little worried about burn in here. Phones are fine as you rarely have the same app open for long periods. There is a lot of switching.
But iPads, especially for power users will have the same few apps open for long periods of time. Should be interesting to see how Apple have dealt with this.
Maybe the same way my Kobo and presumably all eInk displays work -- a nice full screen refresh every couple of minutes!

It will not get as bright, but you will also not have any of the backlight blooming we see now since OLED is self-emissive (so no backlights).

And depending on the OLED tech, they could hit higher nit levels even if not as high as Mini-LED.
Also, if the iPhone's OLED is an indication, an OLED iPad will have much better off-axis viewing than the mini-LED model. That display in particular has an awful haze when viewed in any way other than head-on.

Looking forward to this, but I want the iPad Pro to keep it's current brightness capabilities. If OLED means dimmer screens than I prefer they don't bother with it

Maybe nice to get one of those 11.1 inch OLED iPad Pro's and keep my M1 12.9".

like this user said about 14" ipad and after some time it says is never happening...expect this here too....Apple will not release pro models with oled panels. This will be the air or ipad mini with oled, and he will come back, like he did with the 14" ipad and it will say etc etc Apple is no longer plan etc

Unfortunately this Ross Young its becoming the next Kuo, he was so reliable and now he starts to make a lot of speculations , without any proof to come months later to say no, its not happening, ill made all up. Early days only came to tell only whats for sure and he was always right (with some minors errors )

Or maybe Apple is changing their minds more frequently during development than they used to.

Let us not forget Apple's "100 No for Every Yes" so I would not be surprised if Apple has a shedload of prototype iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and standalone displays using various display technologies (OLED, Mini-LED) at various sizes just to see how they look and work.

We also know Apple is constantly pushing the display manufacturers to improve the quality of their products for use in Apple devices. Witness the article today about how Samsung Display uses inkjet tech with the iPhone 14's pill and how Apple helped Samsung Display improve the quality of their OLED displays that went into the iPhone X compared to what they were making for the Galaxy line.

Young and Kuo both get their information from sources inside the display supply chain so I expect they hear about all these prototype devices or new technologies that could be used in Apple devices, which they then report on. It could also be a case of the display manufacturers themselves planting rumors with Ross and Kuo about their technology being used by Apple to get Apple to actually look at it.

This will be cool to see when it releases! I’ve been super impressed with the mini-led display on the M1 iPad Pro. It’s hard to imagine getting better than that but I’m excited to see what they do. And like others have mentioned, bigger is better. 🤓

I think I'm going to go from the 12.9" iPad Pro down to the 11.1" OLED the next time I upgrade. I think I'm going to move down to the 14" MBP when the M3 or M4 chip comes out, depending on whether they put OLED into the MBP, and then maybe upgrade my iPad the next year. Maybe the 14" MBP, which is 14.2", will get a bump up to 14.5" when they move to OLED? That would be great. I went with the 12.9" because of Mini LED and the 16" MBP because at the time the 13" was all that was available so the display was a bit on the small side and it didn't have the fastest CPU or GPU since they were still on Intel. The 14" MBP will replace my 16" MBP and my 27" iMac, so I will need to buy a 5K display. Hopefully by then 6K displays are more common and affordable!
