it would be smart if it was an extension of their airport base station. so you put it in the middle of the room, not only does it become a personal device but also extends the range of your wifi

"Hey Siri, request an Uber X" Uber.
"Hey Siri, translate "Good evening" to Japanese" Microsoft Translate.
"Hey Siri, order my favourite pizza" Dominos.

So much yes!

Exactly my feeling:

Siri, hahahahaha

"Did you have to be that realistic and mean?"

apple has to invent something no one has ever thought of or even theorized before - and release it in a month - or people here may fully realize the ulcers they've been bringing upon themselves.

Really? Do you really still believe they do not release things until "they get it right" schtick? I point to you "Notifications" and "Maps" as two examples where, they came to the party late and which pale in comparison to the competition.

The article said Apple's been working on it since before the Echo was even released. As usual, Apple takes the time to get the product right and then releases it. When I tried an Echo, I was unimpressed. I hope to be impressed by another Apple product.

I can't wait to yell out my meetings, reminders, and timers into my living room! Activating siri on my iPhone is just too much work.

Siri works great for me.

I'd love one unit that stands alone but also serves as an AppleTV when the TV is on.

P.S. I'm glad people already know that all future Apple plans, decisions, and products will be 100% shocking abominations. Great insight! :)

apple has become a "ME TOO" company. They are so boring lately.
If they are releasing it in a few weeks at their convention you can be sure that they didn't just start working on it a few weeks or months ago, when echo and google home was released. Rather they would have been working on it for many years just like they were with the iPhone, iPad, AppleTV and their other devices.

Apple isn't trying to entertain you, they are instead continuing to build a stable robust ecosystem that continues to grow over time based on user needs and the technology landscape.

I don't get why would apple make a special hardware for siri, it's already on my iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple Watch and soon (hopefully) on my macbook... I personally wouldn't need an extra hardware that has siri on it

You ought to see what Google can do. I asked Siri the other day for flights between two specific airports. She gave me a link to Orbitz. Asked Google the same, it brought up Google Flights, a list of flights, by airline, time etc. Much more useful. Siri is still mostly an underutilized parlor trick.

Yup... Glad Apple is taking their time, especially considering the privacy aspect. There's no way I'd ever have a google product with a live microphone in my house. With Apple, I *might*.

Because it's always listening and you don't have to push a button first. Also, the phone is usually in your pocket so you have to take it out first.

I bet it would be integrated with the APPLE TV. You can sit down on the couch and just say turn the tv on and navigate by voice. No need to use the remote at all.
