a thinner controller
I can't wait!

Honestly, gaming is one area that Apple needs to just leave to the big boys. Even Microsoft have poured their respects for Nintendo, who are arguably the greatest first-party developers we've seen.

You can't buy brand recognition or years of experience and legacy content. And people aren't going to buy an Apple TV for a freakin' Breath of the Wild clone.

The current controller can't be the one they intend to use for games. I would suggest that they could make games compatible with Bluetooth Xbox or PS4/5 controller, why reinvent the wheel?

Plus, taking the expense current controller out of the box makes the package cheaper.

Because switching between an ATV, iPhone, and iPad with a DS4 or XBox controller is a pain the ass. A service intended to work on all those devices should have a controller that seamlessly switches between all those devices.

I think Apple has heard the complaints about the current Remote. It was a noble effort, but a downgrade from the previous aluminum remote in terms of simple usability. Let's hope they learn from the best of the best remotes out there without making it too complicated. And I hope they retain the trackpad, but figure out how to make it detect when the remote is in the palm of the hand so it doesn't respond to unintended touches.

Gimme a fully-featured HDMI 2.1 interface on whatever is coming next. Viewing content with all kinds of FPS and I notice stuttering very quickly so VRR support is a must for me.

The current match framerate output option is just a crutch - UI animations at 23.976 fps suck pretty hard.

The Apple TV isn't updated often so it makes sense that they put the most current CPU whenever they do update it.

Apple is on fire. They did the biggest purchase when they get the chip masterman from Intel back in 2012, since then Intel is going down and apple is going up
Thank god with qualcom otherwise antitrust was on apples head non stop

Its an overpriced device hope they lower the price a lot... my 4k is nice, but it really isnt worth the going rate compared to Roku which does the same thing (plus Airplay 2 is coming to Roku and on a growing number of TVs). Gaming on it is pretty lousy, so that's not an improvement.

Make it $99 and it has a shot against the Roku, maybe...

a thinner controller
You need something you can easily hold not this thinner is better with a remote.

If they ever want to be taken seriously for games, they need their own controller.
Whats wrong with using some of the mainstream wireless game controllers? Apple has zip experience doing this.

Looks like A14 will be very Powerful! It must be very efficient and effective chip.
The graphics capacity of the ARM needs to be better than a A12X, the A14 in the iPad Air 4 only equaled that single/multi geek bench score if Apple wants to push Apple Arcade better they need something really nice. :)

I am always ready for a new Apple TV. I have not played games for quite a while. Road racing games on my 55in Sony X950H might be thrilling. I am ready to pass my ATV 4K onto a family member. And yes how about an Apple TV remote this isn't a Jony Minimalist POS. I use my Sony remote because it works so much better. A smaller Apple remote with plenty of real buttons would be much appreciated.

If they're going to release console-level games, they're going to need a lot more storage on the device. Or the ability to add storage. Definitely like the idea, though.

If Apple could bring Xbox level games to the Apple TV and also make the Apple TV into a WiFi router and a main unit for additional Apple Wi-Fi mesh access points, this would be a killer device. The more powerful Apple TV could be the main WiFi router/ mesh unit, while the less expensive Apple TV (without the parity with the Xbox) could be satellite Wi-Fi mesh points.

This would encourage people to buy an Apple TV for every TV in the house because they would also help blanket the house in Wi-Fi. Say the more expensive Apple TV is priced at $299 and less expensive one at $199. To blanket a 6,000 sq ft house in Wi-Fi, one would need at least one high-end Apple TV and perhaps 3 lower-end ones. So, that’s $900 worth of gear, but for the price the customers would get one Xbox competitor, four steaming TV boxes and the all-house mesh Wi-Fi system. I think it’s a good deal for both Apple and the customers.
