What is the mess of 14 Pro? I don't see anything wrong hardware-wise ... it's just the iOS, but that's obvious why... because most of the team is focused on the RealityOS.

Flashing horizontal lines
"Sim not supported" (would cause phone to freeze up
Storage full issue
Humming sound from camera (autofocus issue)
Issues with 5G coverage (slow or constantly dropped calls)
Transferring data issue (would brick phone)
Camera shaking rapidly
Very poor battery life

Most of these issues have been acknowledged by Apple. And they weren't just iOS 16 issues as only the 14 models saw these problems.

I have none of this on my unit. I tried really to see the issue with the screen, but it's not happening (thankfully)

The camera shaking was software and was fixed (Of course it was happening only on 14...since they had the new sensor and the software had no clue how to work with it). For the storage full glitch I saw on YT. Few big content creators were talking about. Its again software issue. I see nothing hardware related on your list.

Very poor battery life? As in much worse than the iPhone 13 Pro or marginally worse, but made out to sound like it’s much worse? All I can think of as a possible cause would be the higher clocked A15 known now as the A16 causing battery life to be worse, possibly just marginally. Let’s not discount software causing some of the issues. The camera issue for example was software related.

A16 has nothing in common with A15 aside of the GPU. It's very different CPU in size, cache configuration and with much more modern memory controller.

That excuse works for android, where the os is from Google and hardware from the manufacturer, but apple controls both the hardware and software.

The issue is gone for the people which had it after the update that was supposed to fix it. How are you gonna explain that sir? Sure was hardware problem. 😂

Plus the camera/hardware is from the "manufacturer" aka Sony (Sony IMX803).

Yeah the camera issue was software related, but only if you had a 14, so...

You don't have to be scared, because 1st if there was an issue on hardware level with the GPU core(s) that would be catched on manufacturing stage and the chip repurposed (just like A15 with it's iterations for CPU/GPU). 2nd you will see issues at many levels using the phone, not just booting/waking it up.

Also from what I'm seeing the issue appeared relatively recent and not since day 1 which can talks that specific update from iOS bugged it. The other speculation is that it's affecting just phones with LG screens (newer production started using LG screens aswell for Pro Max), so it can be driver related.

After all if the problem persists for some people even after the update - there is a warranty for it.

From what I’ve read in tech blogs, the memory is the most defining change and otherwise it’s very similar to the A15. Apple was expecting to have a 3nm processor available to them in 2022 and as mentioned here and elsewhere, the A16 was plan B. Not a bad plan B, but maybe there’s a connection between it and the marginally reduced battery life of the 14 Pro if the cause of that isn’t iOS 16 related (unless battery life is better now).

Wrong. It’s a different chip with almost the same GPU, but being an evolution instead of a revolution doesn’t mean Apple is releasing the same SoC. And to expect a new process every year is just unrealistic.
