They should also make different magic keyboards for the Air and Pro ranges...

so if you buy and air and then upgrade to the same sized Pro model... bam... you gotta get another keyboard.

How about going REALLY big to basically resurrect a modern crack at the old arcade cocktail table format...

Apple iTable? But I don’t think it’s really convenient to use, apart from some niche use cases.

I can just imagine someone getting on the train and pulling out their iTable...

They will look across at someone with iPad Pro 12.9 Inch and say, meh... you can't do Pro work on that! You need an iTable

I am all in. I use iPad for personal stuff - tv news email music photos etc (not work) and I’ll happily take a bigger screen on a cheaper model. I’ve never pulled the trigger on the 12.9 pro.

Not a whole table, just table topper… like the truly giganto iPad we know they will eventually build…. about big enough for a party of 4 to take a side and play or do.

I went from the 12 to the 11 and love every minute of it.
Portability weight and screen size are well balanced on the 11.
It’s great to have choices!

It makes sense if Apple were to offer a larger iPad Air, sort of mimicking the iPhone and their regular and large sizes. But the iPad lineup already feels like there are too many different products serving customers that would be happy with less choice. The thing I’d like to see Apple do with the iPad Pro 12.9” is get battery life up to 15-18 hours, before they offer an increased size or foldable option. It’s the one thing I wish were better with my M1 12.9 iPP and has an actual affect on my daily work, especially when traveling. I get that the bright screen, cellular radios and powerful chip takes a lot of energy, and I’d be fine with their increasing the thickness fractionally and use that space for additional battery capacity.

Apple is working on a larger iPad Air featuring a 12.9-inch display, in what would be the biggest iPad Air model to date, DigiTimes reports.

iPad-Air-12.9-Inch-Feature.jpg

Citing industry sources, DigiTimes highlighted that unlike the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the 12.9-inch iPad Air will not feature a mini-LED display. The device will instead feature the same LCD technology used in the current, 10.9-inch iPad Air. The information was shared in DigiTimes' "Before Going to Press" section, so while information about the new device is currently limited, more will follow tomorrow.

The iPad Air has only ever been available in a single size, so presumably a 12.9-inch iPad Air would be offered in addition to a separate model with a smaller screen, just like how the iPad Pro is offered in both 11- and 12.9-inch variants. A recent rumor from 9to5Mac claimed that Apple was working on two sixth-generation iPad Air models. While the piece speculated that Apple could release a larger version of the ‌iPad Air‌ to go along with the current 10.9-inch version, DigiTimes' report is the first specific mention of a larger iPad Air variant.

Together, the rumors suggest that the 12.9-inch iPad Air could arrive sooner rather than later in the sixth incarnation of the device. The current iPad Air featuring the M1 chip launched over a year and a half ago, and a new model with the M2 chip is widely expected to launch in the coming months.

The current, 10.9-inch iPad Air is priced starting at $599, while the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799. A 12.9-inch iPad Air model would presumably be priced between these two products, but it is worth bearing in mind that Apple's next-generation iPad Pro models are rumored to see price hikes owing to their costly OLED display technology.

What do they mean working on? It’s just the 2018 iPad Pro body with a crappier screen and updated chip. It's not exactly something that needs R&D.

Yay. Just what Apple needs. Even more complexity in its line-up. Just gives them a reason to push the price of the iPad Pro up to make room for it.

They really need to split the iPad range further... like have Air Lite and Maxi, Pro and Pro Max

Differentiate it with minuscule differences..

You walk into Apple Store seeking a basic iPad and you walk out with iPad Pro Max (40 inch model) with 5 different cables/adapters and 3 pencils :/
Maybe that is the real Apple car project - making a product line with 100 configurations... all the better to extract more money from you, because you will have to buy the 'package' to get that one thing you actually want...

Well if the 12.9" Pro OLED model is rumored to cost $1800 and the new 11" Pro OLED will cost $1500 then they can make the 12.9" Air cost $1100 like the old 12" Pro LMAO.

I still don't buy the rumor about the price going up that much unless it's for a foldable iPad Pro or iPad Studio with Mac features.

If it's going to be a 60hz display you better just forget about it. Would be a TERRIBLE experience on such a large display.

If they add 120hz display then it would be an awesome alternative for those who don't want or can't afford how expensive the iPad Pro 12.9 is becoming.

I would buy it if it's 120hz. I always wanted the 12.9 model but think it's too expensive compared to laptops.

iPad Pro needs a huge price hike then. Otherwise it will be better to just buy the previous gen iPad Pro over this iPad Air.

I'm looking for a replacement for my iPad Pro 1st Gen (12,9") which already feels rather sluggish sometimes.

This could be it.

With rumors that the next iPad Pro will be getting an advanced OLED display, I wouldn't be surprised if goes get a price hike. I can definitely see a $200 price hike for each size.
