This will change everything! Never have to use cash again, and have confirmation of payment. Both will make my life easier, in addition to an easy, cheap, and fast way to pay non-local contractors (if allowed). I have two banks that I use that have free ACH transfers, but they are relatively clumsy and can take two days.

im not an android guy but I have to give it to samsung pay .. they did a good job with it working on non nfc terminals

Yep. Thanks to extreme resistance from retailers (most of them would still be cash only if they could get away with it!) I can easily see Samsung having the majority of the mobile payment market in the US. Samsung needs to dramatically increase the number of banks it supports, however.

Chipped cards aren't required until the end of next year and they've been proven to be no more secure than normal cards.

Apple takes a piece of every transaction too. That's their entire reason for creating Apple Pay. They get a processing fee every single time.

The 3-5 day transfer time PayPal requires isn't their fault, it's your banks and it's mandated by the US government.

The liability shift for EMV happened a month ago. And while bank transfers in the US are slower than elsewhere, most places can definitely transfer a lot more quickly than PayPal.

Sounds like a cool next step. I would think that payment is made from a credit card and you just designate a deposit account on your Apple Pay app and then everything is taken care of and banks don't have to be in the mix at all.

i love how Apple copied Google Wallet.

What?
Samsung is already working on phone to phone payments. They've got everyone beat on mobile payments. But good effort from Apple.

You don't find it odd that this story is 3 days old... Hummmm.... since this is vapor ware too, do you think it could be that Samsung caught wind of what Apple was doing? Or maybe, it's just a logical step based on customer requests?

I would think it has to be a debit card or there would be a fee. Otherwise it would be a loophole for cash advances.

I already have PayPal and Chase Quickpay. Why would I want yet another such service? Quickpay lets me send money to anybody with an email address, is free, and works through my automatic bill pay service with the bank for recurring payments if needed.

What, like with some manner of certificate that can be freely transferred between people or other entities, in exchange for goods and services? And that's not tied to any particular company or hardware? If only there was a way to accomplish that without introducing a middleman and proprietary hardware and software. Like with a printed bill that would fit in one's wallet and is accepted anywhere?

The key to the whole thing will be that it is built into your devices out-of-the-box. There are a lot of apps out there today that can do this, but they'll never get the share of mind that something installed by default gets.

It will be just like Apple Pay in a retail environment. People will prefer to use it, but if they have to resort to getting out a credit card they'll do what they have to. It doesn't mean they stop using Apple Pay altogether because some places don't support it.

Good point, but (I didn't explain this well) Square's business model is largely built on merchant services and providing the software and hardware to accept payments. Apple doesn't compete with that model. In fact Square's new NFC + Chip hardware works with Apple Pay.

Well hopefully this feature will be rolled out to everyone not just in the countries where Apple Pay has been launched.

This seems a bit silly. If Apple entered the market today, it would be entering a fairly saturated market already. Doing it a year from now will be far worse.

oh ok,,,, just by the fact one company Google has a wallet system, and someone follows that we say its "copied" how does that work ?

Thank goodness i don't come with my own mobile payment, otherwise i'll be labeled as a copycat. for life... good heavens .. what ever will i do.. almost like no other company can get a their own payment system and there only has to be one only.

If Apple wants to do one, good on 'em, but i won't be using it :)
