Technically, they're not even good for "thumper music":

Yes, they emphasize the main elements in low-end heavy music. But the artists in these genres already mixed the audio to (over) emphasize the low end. They didn't intend for there to be added even more low end and even more treble (high end) to be cut from the high end.

But even if they were really good and on par with AirPods but a little cheaper, I'd still go for AirPods just to avoid the terrible Nicki Minaj/Will.I.Am/Megan Thee Stallion "Urban High Gloss"-music video aesthetics that I get from beats.

And besides personal preferences -How on Earth is my white behind supposed to pull of these colors? I might as well wear a sign around my neck that says "HELLO -I'M CAUCASIAN!".

It's clear that Apple does not want me to buy beats!
They "beat" the stupid airpods pro white earwax leaking out of your ears look and they also stay in your ear when doing anything, again, unlike the plastic garbage airpods....so there is that!

Oh, btw, nice racist comments there too! I think apple would be with you not buying ANY products.

I love mine. It's weird how unpopular they are.
People wear them all over the place here in NYC -- like, you can't take a subway ride without seeing several people wearing them. Mostly it's fashion-conscious younger people, maybe 20-35. Maybe they're "unpopular" on tech nerd forums, but they seem to be doing just fine out in the real world.

Zero issues with mine. They've been the most rock-solid, trouble-free Apple product I've ever purchased.
Same. Mine have gotten me through years of pandemic with zero issues here as well. My battery is wearing down (only get maybe 6 hours out of it now), but I must have a couple thousand hours of use on them at this point.

I've been a Solo user for a long time, still have my Solo 2 and they function perfectly since 2016. Bought a pair of Solo Pro's on closeout, those are terrific; but the optional wire is the biggest glare I see with it. Wonder if they are going to take any ideas from those discontinued Solo Pro headphones?

Hope the faux or real leather doesn't fall apart after a while. I took my Beats out of storage last month and the material crumbled in my hands.
Faux leather sucks. If it doesn’t crumble it gets sticky as the plasticizers leach out. My Beats are still holding up though. But my AKG wired cans got gross. I took good care of them, too.

I’ve had a pair of Beats Studio 3 since 2017, and still am very satisfied - ANC was great then and is okay by today’s standards, sound is fine, they fold for travel, come with a good case, and work well with Apple devices. If Apple updates the ANC to AirPods (Max) levels and adds spatial audio and USB-C, Beats Studio Pros could become an affordable and travel friendly alternative to AirPods Max.

Based on the name, the Beats Studio Pro will be a new version of the current Beats Studio3 headphones. The Beats Studio3 are several years old at this point, and there have been no new Beats-branded over-ear headphones launched since 2017.
I hope this is factual, as Apple needs to diversify their audio products line up.

This news sounds great if true, and the pricing of the AirPods Max is ridiculous compared to what Beats Studio Pros could be priced at. :)

I do think the new Beats Studio Pro models will use H2 and might even support (gasp!) Sony's LDAC, since Beat headphones are intended not only for iPhone users, but also Android users (LDAC is fairly common on high-end Android phones).

I still think, however, that Apple in iOS 17 should move wireless headphone support to a separate app. That way, you can connect a Bluetooth 4.2 or later wireless headset from any manufacturer easily.

Apple Beats gives me hope that Apple might one day buy Logitech.
The trade-offs of Apple's magic keyboard and mouse might very well be the right ones for the Apple brand. Matching the materials and colours latest macs out of the box, Agnostic of left or right handedness, simplicity for their most entry level customer, minimalist and ultra thin aesthetics, environmental impact of thin packaging, and I'm sure saving on freight when they pack tens of thousands onto airplanes and ships...

But I want a mechanical keyboard with key travel and TouchID and also an ergonomic mouse with Mission Control gestures. How about a webcam with TrueDepth so my MacStudio can FaceID pay and log me in like Windows Hello, and do AR stuff like Memoji.

Buying Logitech would give Apple stuff they can sell sub $300 to people in their 2nd and 3rd years of Mac ownership.

With Beats getting U1 chips, it's not out of the question that Apple might want some of that sweet after-market peripheral money by putting their tech into a side brand.

maybe they can get rid of that loud creaky noise when folding and unfolding. it's the cheapest of sounds. but also, i would never buy these, i only got one because it was "free" with a macbook.

Hopefully they have better cushions. Mine are peeling off all over my face and ears when I wear them and I've only owned them for about 4 years with very little usage.

Had the same issue with Audio Technica's as well though. Maybe it's just a me thing.

The ear cups on every single over ear Beats headphones dissolves into a crumb mess. Fatal flaw that has been ignored.

They could fix that easily if they allowed replaceable detachable ear pads that could be used for multiple headphones. Lots of Synthetic Leather examples out there.

This ear cup deterioration will also happen on Bose headphones. Had it happen to a pair of mine. I was able to get replacement cushions from Bose. I remember my Koss PRO4AA headphone ear cups also doing the same thing. But I sold those headphones, which was a mistake. No noise cancelling but a truly awesome sound and comfort.

I don't know about Sony. I suspect it is a problem with most high end headphones. Making the material comfortable to wear over the ears and provide a seal requires material that is not meant to last forever.

I still like my Bose.

Apple brilliantly fixed this flaw with the AirPods Max magnetic ear cushions.

No one needs magnetic attachments though (added cost). They just need a press in arrangement of plastic pins that effectively snap it into place for a good seal. Not like a design is that tough to implement. :D

Yes but that sounds un-Apple like. Magnets are truly Apple magic. 🤣

So magnets stop material degradation...🙄

Who says I didn't? Trying to adapt the flux capacitor to work in my Prius is proving to be a challenge.

Maybe you did. But to post it in 2023 makes it wrong... by a decade. The Solo 2 came out in 2014, and sat on Tyll Hertsens Wall of Fame as the best on-ear headphone until the day he retired. Ahead of Sennheiser Momentum and V-Moda X.

Could always just read it yourself, from the most trusted name in headphones. Complete with scientific graphs to demonstrate the sound profile.
